Hey Harry, I'm sure you know that not all sand is the same. Playground sand is tumbled and has less sharp edges then construction sand. Silica sand is a carcinogen and also has less sharp edges then construction sand. River sand, desert sand, and beach sand are also smooth. The jagged edges of construction sand is best because it keys itself into whatever application. Construction sand is man made by crushing rock and that's what gives it its sharp jagged edges. It's also the cheaper sand. It might also be called plaster sand in some areas.

Redefine Living Thst what i have always thought. Some sort of agragate or other binder for strength. Ive seen many new products that could replace agragate but never have sern the cost comparaison. Great videos. Others talk about creating domes with aircrete but rare if at all see a product through building to finish. Thanks a bunch.

I am impressed that you took the time to make a video in the middle of doing your foundation! Editing too. Thanks for sharing Harry. Seeing you tipping the barrel over makes me think that there must be a way to tip it over a 8x8 chunk or something so that you don't have to get the barrel right in the slop on the ground. Oh well everyone is an expert hey. I just found your channel yesterday and I am so stoked to go build some aircrete walkways and a foundation for my sugar shack! Thanks Harry!

Hello, thank you for replying so perfectly to a previous question on different video, I plan on happily purchasing your stuff, I'm thankful for the groundwork and science experiments you have been doing. Currently I'm refreshing my mind on the details with building domes, preparing to build, spray, single airform 20ft dome this next year, south Florida, I plan to follow your advice and technique. Epic mix etc. Basalt rebar, mesh. Do you know if concrete formula would be different for environment South florida? Also, it has been a while since last updates, is there any updated version of mixes or materials, versions, formulas of concrete you discovered or plan to add to your website? I'd like the best version when I purchase plans 🙏 Thank you, maybe a phone call in future.

Looks like you forgot to leave a good thick solid ring to support the walls Harry. Good first experiment though, but expect the floor to crackaround the perimeter from the weight. Although it is light, that edge is thin.

No plastic vapour seal under the floorslab? Capillary effect will transport the moisture up and the insulating properties are minimalized...

@@AircreteHarry - In the long run you'll see it's one of the smallest investments either money or time wise, in a construction. The return is years of moist free upper structure or rooms. Totally worth the 30 minutes it takes to set it properly. ;-) One other tip. Always start dumping your concrete on the point further away from the material "entrance". Saves some head aches walking/moving over already poured material. ;-) Cheers

The reason your aircrete is so brittle and weak is because you're adding aggregate. Adding sand as an aggregate + air lessens the amount of actual cement you have in your mix.. with actual aircrete air is your only aggregate. for someone who calls himself aircrete Harry, you seem to know very little about how to make aircrete.

Interesting - So what would be the 'stronger' mix or ratio for the foundation pour? Simply less foam? and never use sand?... I like the thought that the skin to each and every bubble is what creates the 'aggregate' - assuming that is what you are suggesting? which means that all you can do is increase the strength of the bubble skin, true?

Portland cement for a foundation plate?! Seriously? Good luck with that. Portland cement is used in Germany ONLY for wall topping! It will not withhold any pressure. Guess how I know. Right. Had to get rid of it and do it all over again. Yes. I was young and believed the sales guy more than my architect 35 years ago. Never again.
