I love your videos man! seriously, they're helping me out a TON! I'm 39 years old and getting back into Bmx. I haven't been on a bike in probably 20 yrs up until about 2 months ago. I thought I would be able to do everything on a bike that I could do when I use to ride a long time ago. I quickly realized thats not the case. haha. Thanks for posting and helping us beginners out.

Aird Bmx hows it going buddy.. I'm getting better at manuals, I still cant manual for a really long distance but, I've found my 'sweet spot' and know where I need to be to balance the bike out. I guess my question is, is it better to get in your 'sweet spot' first (or lean back) and then lift the front end or lift up the front first and then lean back? I've been doing it both ways.. I'm just not sure which is the right or proper way.. again I love your videos!!
@AirdBMX7 жыл бұрын
Its going good! Good job getting the hang of manuals, so the way that I do my manuals is it is all one fluid motion to pull up into a manual. I lean back and pull up my front tire at the same time. I slightly bend my knees and get close to my manual position and then i lean back which makes my arms straight and pulls up the front end. Hope this helped!

Key tip Your knees and shoulders should be above your seat and have your back leg strait, don't look at the front tire, look strait 👍👍 and you don't learn it in one day

I'm 46 years old, and getting into BMX racing as my 5 year old son races at a local club track. I've been trying to nail manuals, to the point of becoming slightly obsessed, and it's so much harder than it looks! Today I had my first major loop-out, smacked the back of my head (I always wear a full-face helmet, so no damage done) but really damaged my left arm/elbow because my body landed on it. I thought bailing out of a loop-out would be a simple case of jumping back off the bike and landing on my feet, but it happened SO quickly I didn't have time to react.

Thanks for this! Might be the best BMX how-to-manual video on youtube. How tall are you? I'm trying to relate my body position to yours in the still @ 5:01 -- I think you may be way taller than me? (5'6", 20.5" tt/13.75" cs) But it's possible my beginner positioning is just jacked.
@AirdBMX5 жыл бұрын
I'm about 6'1", and I run a 21" top tube. So as far as body positioning goes, it varies based on the person exactly how and where you can find your balance point. But normally if you aren't able to lock into them it's because you don't have your butt either low enough or far back enough. Hope this helps!

How do you prevent yourself from leaning too far to the right or left? That's pretty much what I'm having trouble with right now
@AirdBMX7 жыл бұрын
It's all just trial and error of finding that balance point, you just have to keep trying them. Don't get frustrated they aren't easy to learn, but they are a lot of fun once you do!

Whats the best size frame for manual'ing when you are a short ass 5' 6" ?
@allymitch857 жыл бұрын
I noticed you have the hoder btm frame. What size is your TT? I have the same frame in a 21.5 and I think It's too big. Trying to find super short stem to compensate. I'm 6'0
@AirdBMX7 жыл бұрын
+allymitch85 I'm about 6'1 and i ride a 21" TT
@allymitch857 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply! I was just trying to gauge if I made a bad decision buying such a long frame. My bike definitely feels long but, I found a stem that has a reach of 36mm, so It should put my bars at the same length if I were riding a 21" TT with normal reach stem. Anyhow, great vids man! They've helped a lot!
@AirdBMX7 жыл бұрын
+allymitch85 nah, you should be good! It will have some benefits over shorter frames too! That stem should help too!

Just gotta keep trying man, these take a long time to get them down. Just make sure to keep your butt low over your back tire, that's the biggest key

I was doing so good looping out and my feet got stuck to the pedals. Fell flat on my back, It didn't really hurt when it happened but my back has been screwed up for a week now. Seriously tho wear a helmet... It doesnt actually look dumb, and it will stop you from getting brain damaged. Theres really no recovering from that. You never know even if youve fallen a hundred times.
