If you like this mode so much, genuinely, why not play shogi? You can use international pieces which denote their movement (shogi cz) so you don't have to lose your mind remembering the kanji.

@@williammitchell6254 just google shogi playground and in settings select shogi cz. I prefer those, they keep the kanji, but have an icon showing the movement, whereas the international pieces just look like a mess, even more so than regular kanji.

You can only get an extra queen by capturing a queen or promoting. Your opponent can only get their queen back by capturing your queen or promoting. Apparently if you capture a promoted queen it only counts as a pawn (or maybe that was because the promoted queen was captured immediately). I think the max you could get, therefore, is 10 queens and you'd have to have both players coordinating to accomplish it.
@skywarka
@skywarka 3 жыл бұрын
@@solh0029 You can capture the opponent's 8 pawns (or promoted queens), then place and promote them yourself. 2 original queens + 16 pawns = 18 queens maximum.

Yo, NL I actually just learned today that in the Ruy Lopez if you take that's actually not a free pawn at 16:35 (at least in normal chess, no idea about this) because he has queen to d4 attacking both the knight and the pawn.
@etopowertwon

According to lichess Qd4 is a draw, but after. It thinks Qg5 is better move since white bishop is gone and Qg5 threatens both knight at e5 and pawn at g2. Then white has to defend with N@g4, protecting the night and blocking g2 pawn. Then black captures Bxg4, white recaptures NxG4 and black already winning as it has BN in pocket, while white has BP.

Hey NL, just because you're trying to learn opening theory, in the Ruy Lopez exchange variation (following 4. Bxc6 dxc6) you do not actually have a free pawn, as 5. Nxe5 can be met with multiple queen moves to win back the pawn, and castles is the main line (and strongest in the position i think?). Anyways great video, crazy house is entertaining, though I am looking forward to the return of normal rapid games as well :D

Is there even a shogi variation on chess com though? There's a Chaturanga variant, but it has different rules from Shogi. And obviously Japanese chess works very different anyway (no colours, but directions of pieces, each piece can promote differently and the way pieces move is VERY different). Heck, the playing field is different with being 9 x 9 squares and having three rows that can promote a piece, if you desire. Pawns only move up, only take up. Stuff is _very_ different. In my humble opinion, it's not as versatile as traditional chess. Even when still a lot of fun to play!

@@PHeMoX it doesn't necessarily have to be on chess com. there's 81 dojo-- and heck at this point i'll even accept him playing shogi in clubhouse games i understand how different it is, but that's why it could be a fun video.
