I noticed this myself and thought it was just spaghetti code. Turns out its intentional, probably because they're tired of bug reports from people too lazy to drop their landing gear and land correctly

Actually not just for people who are lazy. Sometimes when you are damaged and lost your landing gear you can't go too slow on the landing, otherwise you lose control.

This comment gave me a stroke lmao. If you're asking why this feature exists, then I have no idea and it wasn't my idea. But as far as i can tell, it looks like it's there intentionally. I'm just showcasing what I found and sharing it. (Also it's not like war thunder is realistic anyways with pilots pulling 13Gs and still being alive)

It was a really interesting video btw. I always have a harder time landing from the other side of the airfield and now I know why that is.

@@benjaminvleugels5609 I do appreciate war thunder for being a nice middle ground between being completely arcadey and a full on simulator, at least in the flight model department. I definitely don't agree with all the choices they made especially with balancing but I guess they put this in just so that you spend less time landing/taking off and more time doing the more interesting fighting

I do land like this since they addedit cause it's legit faster and safer than doing it the proper way. But I also dont want to go back to how it was before where a broken landing gear meant death.

@@hungryhedgehog4201 Look up the overhead break. tldr: 1. Fly millitary power or even WEP/afterburner on towards airfield at 1 km RALT 2. Cut power after crossing airfield treshold, deploy airbrakes if present and descend to about 700 RALT 3. At middle/rear of airfield bank left/right completely depending on easier approach and pull 2-6 Gs as you turn 180 degrees in a level turn 4. Manage flaps, power and airbrake to maintain safe landing speed as you descend to about 500 RALT. 5. Disable airbrake, manage power, flaps and deploy gear as you make another 180 degree turn onto the runway 6. flare before touchdown. Done perfectly with the right timings, you'll be touching down at the runway with a 5m/s sink rate and the appropriate landing speed for your aircraft (150-250 for props, 300-400 for jets).

Could u see if u land with ur gear and j out near the runway will ot kick you from battle cause it sometimes happens to be even when im right next to the runway and undamaged

I've had that happen to me a couple times before too, my best guess is that I took a tiny bit of damage that the game doesn't show on the damage indicator and so I can't j out without waiting for the full repair. Still idk if thats actually true but it happens rarely enough and I don't know what triggers it so I can't really test it efficiently

@@CatWerfer I always use the xray before i j out, sometimes you receive a tiny bit of damage so small that the aircraft damaged icon doesn’t show on your hud, but you can still see a little hint of yellow on the xray. I do this especially whenever i fly close to enemy AAA or when i received glancing shots from enemies

@@magicmissile7533 when you J out if it says kill will be given to... the you will be counted as killed if you J out but if it just says leaving your aircraft you will be fine
