9:30 for me cutting big decal in smaller segments and then adjusting 'em on surface makes a trick. as for a tail I'll probably just cut off blue segments and apply them one by one

Very nice little aeroplane - nice kit too overall but be careful with some of the parts as they are a bit fragile to come off the sprues!

Actually been a bit slack of late - although my Vulcan has taken awful lot of my time...

With those fragile undercarriage parts I think there is an argument for the manufacturers to have deliberately moulded some flash or mould them too long so they can be supported by the surrounding sprue whilst being cut. Then as you always do Gary, just file off the excess, as I think filing them would give less chance of them breaking than cutting. Plan b would be cut off the sprue around them so you can support the part itself as you cut it off.

Airfix should make a 1/24 Skyhawk.
@garys_stuff2 жыл бұрын
That would be quite something, but not too huge!

Very cool! Quite simple, but nicely detailed! 😎

Nice build but I think the air brakes are sticking out at too great an angle, I think they should only come out about 60 degrees, the ones on the kit look like their almost at 90.
@garys_stuff Жыл бұрын
Must be an optical illusion because they don't stick out at right angles - about 60-ish degree sounds about right - Ive packed the model away somewhere so I can't be more specific!

Can you show us you painting the kit?
@garys_stuff2 жыл бұрын
Jake, I will do in future videos. Thanks for the suggestion.

Yeah I second this, would be great to see how you painted it! (Airbrush I guess?)
@julianmhall Жыл бұрын
With the airbrake decal.. could you dry fit the airbrake closed, apply the whole decal and /then/ once it's dry use the edge of the airbrake as a cutting guide? Then you can fit the airbrake open and know everything is aligned properly.
@garys_stuff Жыл бұрын
You can provided you can flush fit the part - some open airbrakes come with angled bits to hold them at the correct angle and they won't go into the space flush. Certainly helps with things like undercarriage doors too!

Do you use airbrush or brushes?
@garys_stuff2 жыл бұрын
For this one I airbrushed the top and bottom but all the detail and things like the fuel tanks were brushed.

No pilot figure? That's unusual for Airfix I think?
@garys_stuff2 жыл бұрын
Hi John, they come with pilots but I rarely use them, very few kits I make are 'wheels up'. Maybe I'll start including a few now and again...
@goingbork15222 жыл бұрын
In your opinion, is this a good beginner kit?
@garys_stuff2 жыл бұрын
Probably not for a complete beginner. It isn't too difficult to put together, but some of the parts are fragile and easy to break getting them off the sprues. I also found the decals tricky. If you want to make it as part of the Dogfight Double set with the MiG-17, then doing them as if they are flying and putting them on their stand they can be done by pretty much anyone. But to do them wheels down, airbrakes out and with these decals then I'd say it is for someone with just a little more experience.
