Great tutorial . Thanks very much. Just one comment it is fashionable at present to do a panel wash on aircraft , however if we go to a aviation museum and checkout panel lines on aircraft you just don't see it. It is a military thing .
@ModelMinutes2 жыл бұрын
I think that there is a bit of modellers licence on how models are weathered. I also think that aircraft in museums are usually much cleaner than they were during use

Hi. Good film. How did the Humbrol react to the Tamiya x20a? I usually mix Humbrol acrylics with water, seems to be ok. Was there any advantages to using X20a? Did it bite into the plastic better? When i wash my palette the Tamiya paint is harder to remove than the Humbrol...thats for sure.
@ModelMinutes4 жыл бұрын
i find the thinners work to make the humbrol paints thinner on a chemical level - spreading the pigment out etc. Water just doesn't seem to quite do the same

Technically the US entered the war actively during 1942 not 41 as Pearl Harbor was not attacked until 7th December 1941. If of course Lend-Lease is included then the US entered the war in a passive capacity earlier. IIRC the two small windows in the bottom of the fuselage were for the dive bomber role, so the pilot could look down and see the target to time the dive. Simple and effective.

@@ModelMinutes Random thought for holding parts together as they glue. Masking tape across the joins? Then peel it off when the glue is dry? Stronger tape even as the parts aren't painted yet. For narrow joins clothes pegs?

Model Minutes Oh , thanks :) I usually prefer to buy a kit without paints from another company and then the one with from Airfix. Now i have King Tiger starter from Italeri and ill use its green for my Ju-87 Zvezda. And then Tomahawk paints may be used for Panzer IV +E-75s And the FW or BF for infantry+ AAs for the dioramas. Its a plus that i get 5% total off due to being registered and in another site i dont pay shipping for same price. (5 paints for the price of advanced airfix kit seems strange with 6+)

Hi guys I’m wondering if anybody could help me, I’m fairly new to scale modelling and I’m currently working on a 1/72 typhoon. I painted about 3-4 thin layers on humbrol 30 and it came out really nice. However when I was rubbing some other paint off with a cloth I noticed that it had left slight peel or scratch in the paint work which had gone down to the original plastic of the model. What can I do? I’ve tried painting over it but it doesn’t seem to do anything. Hope this makes sense and any help would be appreciated :)
@ModelMinutes5 жыл бұрын
Yes, i've seen this before. A primer can help paint stick better, before applying the top coats, but if you've already got a scratch and can't repair it, i'd recommend making it look like chipped metal or weathering?
@StoneMustang5 жыл бұрын
Model Minutes thanks for the reply. Yes I weathered the model around the area with the scratch and added bullet holes as well to give it a battle scared look. Thanks for the advice and keep up the good work!

Nice guide man thanks! I've got a 1:48 hellcat sitting on my shelf. its been there for far too long, and now I have a pretty good idea where to start. (I've been too busy painting up wargaming miniatures) So you don't worry about priming?
@ModelMinutes5 жыл бұрын
Thanks! No, not really. It depends on the paint and plastic, if i find that it's not sticking to the plastic well, i'll quickly remove it and then prime it. I think the last kit I primed was the Airfix Banshee (dauntless) if you want to check that one out. My aim is to try and make the videos simple so that beginners can get good results

Your builds would be 100% better if you dash them paints in the bin, I picked up a set of script acrylics from aldi £7 and there ultra flat and paint without brush strokes easily. I find the start set paints too bitty I always end up with hard bits in the finish when I used them. I built my first 3 kits brush painted with the starter paints. As soon as I used diffrent paints the issue never happened to me again.
@ModelMinutes5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, i've had the "grainy" paint problem before. Fortunately the ones included in this set didn't have that issue
@vasili12075 жыл бұрын
@@ModelMinutes sorry I didn't mean it to be a dig, it's just the issue almost made me not build anymore kits when I started. I just assumed it was model me, and not the paint until I come on youtube and seen almost every kit painted with the starter paints had the same issue, I think what happens is when in transport some paint dries then gets back into the mix . I understand your probably making the video's for the starter model maker thats totally understandable maybe you could recommend the retail humbrol pots also because of the bittyness . Regards vas
