WOW....The Airfix Ford Trimotor - another of those kits (like the Skyvan) that back in the halcyon mid 1970s days I'd see in Woolworths - and give a wide berth. I knew I'd never be able to do it justice. As ever Greg you have. Wonderful build. Bravo.

A great "Blast from the past" build, as good as the Ju-52 you built nearly a year ago. I'm always impressed by the way you build these old kits, it takes me back to when I was a young kid when I put Airfix kits together; tube glue, no paint. As to your introduction keep it as is, it is unique to your channel. Looking forward to the next classic build.

WOW! Truly impressive job, the finished kit looks awesome! Amazing how my front canopy/glass has the exact same imperfections! No question on the Airfix DNA! When I was 11-12 years old back in the mid-'60s, I made mostly 1/72 single-engine airplanes from both world wars. Revell models were more available in the USA at that time. Occasionally, I would find an Airfix kit of an airplane I wanted to build. These kits always seemed cruder, with a poorer fit, and were harder to build than the Revell kits. The decals were more likely to fall apart during application than the Revell decals. And the clear plastic parts were generally terrible. You have done a very nice job with this Ford Trimotor kit from the same period.

I remember building one of these when theyf irst cane out. I can remember it was not an enjoyable build, but I persevered. I do recall it was never displayed with my pother aircraft models, nor can I recollect what hppened to it. 'I simply remember being considerably relieved that I finished it. For that I was grateful, it was simply ticked off my list, with a mental note NEVER build another.. My reason for buying it , in the first place, was simply that ot was unusual, and a tad quirky. 'Lesson learnt, and moved on.. Well done for tackling this kit, and turning it into something others can enjoy.

Just finished the Dragon 1:35 befehlsjager ausf M. One of the Smart Kits with all the bells and whistles. What an amazing kit. As a casual builder I have to say its just off the scale compared to others. I did the Takom Jagdtiger before that and even that is not comparable. Literally no reason to get aftermarket parts. Definitely looking forward to doing more to complete a selection of tank destroyers. Am tempted to try a Mini Art Russian destroyer next!

Hi Greg - nice tri (free pun with every comment...) Couldn't agree more - said it before about the Rotodyne - it's all about capturing the 'look' with these old kits and you've done exactly that, super job as ever. Yes get rid of the wave , I don't think your channel needs it. Just a hi or hello would be sufficient imo. You did great on the tri-motor considering how basic and old the kit is. Always good to watch your videos. I, like yourself and I guess many other modellers get the modelling blues and go off the hobby for a while, it takes a while to get back into it sometimes, a visit to a military show , museum or airshow often reignites the enthusiasm, well for me it does. Keep up the great channel, I look forward to your next build.

Another beauty, Greg. It will fit well on your vintage Airfix airfield of aviation memories. Looked it up, the trimotor still had fixed props. Not sure whether there were left and right turning props in the kit as it was a way to reduce yaw forces when an engine failed on either side. The left would have been right turning and right left turning. Not sure if Airfix or Ford used this principle or solely relied on the little blue men to save the day with skill and muscles
@GregsModels Жыл бұрын
Yes you're right, most twin engine prop planes have the prop's going in opposite directions. The Tri-Motor, Tin Goose, all three went in one direction, don't know why, early days of multi engine aircraft perhaps?👍
@loken67 Жыл бұрын
Nicely done. I tried to build this kit as a kid and failed with the motor struts. The instruction was quite vague in this area. Pleasure to see it finished by an expert modeller now.
