When I was 20 years old I was training in a boxing gym. The old guy who owned it would pick one of us for a “lesson” each week. This particular week was my turn. Cut a long story short, this little 70yr old man beat the shit out of me 😂. After we’d done our training and were on the way out he called me over. What did you learn today then Jeff? he said. Leave my ego at the door, I said. He smiled, patted me on the back and said good lad. Never forgot that man’s generosity in teaching me that valuable (and painful) lesson 😂👍🏻. Just bought myself my first rifle, a Remington Sabre TH to practice this new hobby of mine. I’ll keep my ego in check as always and just try to enjoy the experience of learning to make the thing shoot straight. And I will of course listen to those who have nothing but lessons to teach. The rest don’t matter.

Great comment Jeff, and I learned the same lesson in the same surroundings way back when. Boxing should maybe be taught in schools. You'll have a great time with that Remington. Two of my most used rifles are modestly priced Remingtons and I'm well happy with them.

This one really hit close to home. I was swatting a fly away at the exact moment this dropped. You get rid of one and two come back in their place. Folks are so different face to face. A 90lb woman barreling down the interstate in a Chevy Tahoe is as bold as the man-child who gets his kicks from bothering folks online. Watch the fangs and claws disappear when you can look them in their eyes at their respective locales, at the grocery store, etc. Interesting times…

They’re a strange bread the fan boys, you find them in all walks of life like you said. In airguns it’s usually the ones who are obsessed with a certain german manufacturer which I can’t spell 🤣 if it doesn’t start with a HW it’s shit 🙄 absolutely ridiculous. In motoring the VW crew are the same. No van is worth having unless it’s a VW 🥱 You even find them in the building trades, if you haven’t got the right brand of tools your commiting sacrilege being on site 🤦🏻‍♂️ like you said it’s all down to their own insecurities but it’s fun to laugh at the walleys. Buy what you like, enjoy and what does the job you want it to. What else is there to worry about 🤷🏻‍♂️ life doesn’t have to be so bloody complicated 😂

Yeah I think every brand has them, maybe the only reason we may see one particular brand more than others is - I think - because there are many more of those rifles sold? But yeah you're right, everywhere there are people who incorporate their chosen brand into their identity. Most outgrow it I think. When I worked in the hot rod industry there was the whole Ford/Chevy thing. I'll admit that I fell into the trap myself as a young man. But I figured it out thank fk.

I was given a very old and knackered BSA meteor about 8 years ago , I fettled it to get it shooting OK , it got me back into shooting after 35 years. I then bought a used Pro sport and it lit the blue touch paper for me , I gave it a service and it shoots great. Next gun was a S400 which allowed me to take my grandson shooting (hes 12) , so I had to get another one as he is so good I gave him the s400. I now have a Daystate revere and its amazing , but I always start a shooting session with the Pro sport, its that springer thing 🙂

Very well put...I use what work good. Brand doesn't matter to...for instance almost everyone hates on HI Point, but I absolutely love their carbines. Yea they're cheap, but they are just as reliable as any $800 rifle.

I completely get what you're saying here, people get the best gun they can justify and that works for them, who am I to criticise? I've been lucky enough to be able to afford a couple of Weihrauchs over the last three years but four years ago all I had was a cheap Chinese CO2 rifle. Which I loved to bits, I still recommend the Artemis CP2 to any new shooter. I have 2 Edguns and a Kral and I'm done getting any more except I want a good quality Springer either one like your ProSport or a HW97KT or a TX200HC. I know it's a different kind of shooter but really want one when I can manage to save the cash for it. I mainly shoot targets but occasionally do some pesting.

Yeah at the moment I'm working with a woman who's putting an album together of songs I wrote for her. Mostly been playing session work on and off for maybe 30-40 years - guitar/banjo/dobro - but pretty much hung it up now. Yeah that peacock likes to hang with me while I work. He has a wife and 5 kids and I think he just likes to get away from them... Love him, he's gorgeous. Must be the most photographed peacock in the world!

The Air Arms Prosport was demolished and rebuilt as a 10M target rifle with Parker Hale SMLE rear sight and Anschutz fore sight...(because nearly every Pardini/FWB/Walther fan person (pronoun: It) said I couldn't so I did anyway. And my cameras sorry Guvnah do love a bit of the old Exakta Varex in 35mm. Any way its now snowing so no range work today, let me know when you want me up to yours and you can shoot the Prosport Target. ATB ATT J

I have a 97 that i could shoot a rabbits left gonad off at 45 yards,loved it,i had a tx200 that although felt smoother,i couldn't hit a barn door with it.I put Shefield c700 stocks on both,now i love the tx200 and struggle with the 97.Same size/shape stock,different gun.Proves that each gun suits each shooter differently.Just watched a video by Big Dans Guns and he gets a better group than i did with my hw80 and i thought that was pretty dammed tight,i was proud of it,with a sub £200 springer.His skill levels are on another level i guess.Excellent channel sir!

I eventually gave up air rifle shooting because of some nasty b*stards at my local club. - At 16 I got my first job and saved every penny I could to trade up and up until I had the best FT rifle and scope being made at the time (GC2/ Leuopold). It took me eighteen months and I was really proud of my acheivement. I could shoot it pretty well too. Then the bullying started and I haven't shot since. This was 1991.

Wise words , I suspect at sometime or other virtually everyone will have been a fanboy of , Ford or Vauxhall or Audi , Rolling Stones the Beatles or Hollies , Norton Triumph Bsa , Yamaha Honda Suzuki , etc.etc. Thankfully I mostly managed to grow out of those flaws , but I'm only human and do have My favourites - as do We all . if it's an old brum built one get it! i had a rough one with the stock refinished with brown boot polish i picked up for £60 that outshot the numerous lightnings i've worked on by miles, shame as i really like the lighnings looks but couldn't get them to group well at all.

Dear lord where to start, there are so many excellent air rifles these days and you really don't have to break the bank, I never even dreamed of a PCP bolt action multi-shot air gun when I had my old BSA Super Meteor .22 (Mk5 I think). Ignore the trolls, love watching you shoot different air rifles, and for anyone on a budget if an old SMK B2 is your bag, then go to it say I, better to start with what you can than to wait for the best. Keep up the great work!

I'm lucky enough to have a bit of a collection both budget and high end and they all put a smile on my face and surely that's what it's about. As long as it chucks lead down range and makes the user happy who cares who makes it and how much it costs

On the theme of not having a rant, I have been rather disappointed by the growing number of U tubers shooting pellets at tins of meat, This must be really upsetting for people slowly dying of hunger not to mention that an animal has been slaughtered to produce this product. Now I am no vegy but I find this behavior really thoughtless not to mention quite pointless, it proves nothing of any real consequence except maybe the shooter is a bit of a Pxxx.

Funny you say that, it's never sat quite right with me either. I once shot a pack of out of date bacon in a video - but when I say out of date, I mean green and almost moving of its own accord...

I like what i like , dont care of the name of the rifle if the rifle feels nice to shoulder and handle reliable and accurate i like the rifle regraudless of the name or the price. Like with my car i have a ford focus i have that car because i enjoy the way she drives i love that car couldnt car less that it dosnt have a merc or a bmw badge i like the car.
