Excellent advice! Lots of great points: Launcher should be stage not stored, Cameras, advantage point, don't use launchers pushed to the limit for defense, don't over use the launcher(s) you will be counting on. I could go on, but, it is better that people watch the video and take notes. Some will say I know all of this, BUT, knowing is not the same as implementing. I watch your channel because there is often something new presented, even though I am thinking a long the same lines. This channel needs to take off, because there are too many people working on their 100j launcher or thinking their 12J launcher is good for self defense, etc. Keep it up!

Thanks! Hopefully viewers know 90% of what I'm talking about. It's the other 10% that they might have forgotten or didn't know that is my mission to bring to them. I was camping last night and i ordered an air bottle and remote line for my van set up. It got c0ld in there last night ! And now i'm thinking about building a simple hpa fsc like you recommended a couple yrs ago.

If I were shopping for something now, I would like the FSC just like that with HPA in back in a short carbine format. So many options to make it functional for less lethal defense. HPA is one of the few "upgrades" that I strongly recommend.

Although I know this stuff from previous training, its always a good thing to be reminded of how to do things properly when it comes to the safety of your family and yourself as its very easy to become lax when everything is going well and no one is presenting a threat to you. Thank you for taking the time to make their videos to remind us of the things we should always be thinking about. I'm curious how many Joules you recommend for home protection vs personal protection? Are they the same or is one higher than the other in your opinion?

Thanks. I enjoy the process of packaging information through this platform. I do think that home defense should be 40+ Joules if an airgun is used. There are some great PCP air rifles that aren’t less lethal but might work well because the pellets penetrate deep. I just caution that air-power has its limits and to respect those if you want reliability.

Hey ScaredyCat, off topic question but I was looking into getting a VKS, then I see they now have a VKS Pro. Whats the difference between the two? Is one better than the other?

The VKS Pro is the new version that they are selling. I happen to prefer the look and function of the old style Picatinny rail but it's a little heavy. The new furniture on the VKS Pro is lighter and more "modern". Other than these decorations, the internals of the launcher are the same. If you buy, get one stock and don't pay anyone for costly "upgrades". They aren't necessary on the VKS. It's a complete Less Lethal launcher out of the box.

@@joesolo7719 The stock VKS barrel is 12" and will give more power than an 8" Grimburg barrel. The 8" is only useful if you want a "shortie" but still want to get as close as possible to 12" power. I prefer a more realistic looking AR-15 style weapon so I use the stock barrel.

@@joesolo7719 If you turn the velocity screw all the way clockwise, it'll run at 55-60 Joules out of the box. But the firing bolt o-ring isn't built to handle that much air, so it should be changed to a stronger one if you plan to shoot over 25 Joules regularly. Grimburg Less Lethal sells an o-ring that is perfect for it. That's the only thing that novices need to learn is how to change that one o-ring.
