The 125 puts 33fpe in 25 depending on the size of the pellet

The gun is really accurate, and powerful...I'm enjoying hunting with this gun. It's a bit of a handful, but the synthetic stock isn't too heavy and the cocking effort is manageable.

I have the 125 TH model myself. I opted for the .22 with the nitro piston so my gun is less hold sensitive. I also opted for the 10 for 10 test when I purchased the gun from Pyramid Air. Mine was sending RWS Hobby pellets out the muzzle at an average of 1010fps, that's 26.98 foot pounds for this light pellet. It also belts the JSB Jumbo Heavy pellets out the muzzle at over 890 fps, that's over 32 foot pounds. Your .25 should be producing similar energy levels. Over 30 foot pounds is typical for the .22 and .25 caliber versions of this gun. Mine really likes the JSB Jumbo heavy pellets. I have gotten groups as small as .22" at 50 yards with them and average group at 50 yards with the JSB pellets is .33". That's well under 1 M.O.A. At .66 M.O.A., even my 30-06 barely achieves that. As far as I'm concerned, this gun is great for hunting at least out to 50 yards for medium size game with a well placed shot. As you probably know, well placed shots are a piece of cake with this gun. I only wish it came with a wooden stock.

I have the 22 cal and have been looking at the yardage possibility's .Take the swfa 10x fixed scope, it has perfect tracking and range of elevation 30 mil. which graphs according to my Hawke chairgun pro program will allow me to shoot out to 187 yards at a 30 yard zero and still be on a mil-dot for a aim point with a 14.3 gr pellet and still have 2.68 fpe when it gets there. The Sightron 10x fixed with exactrack has 44 mil elevation adjustments which means you can hold your scope on a mil dot on your target over 200 yards away. At 205 yards it still has 2.05 fpe which is good for field mice or to knock over the small metal airgun orange silhouette chicken ,pig turkey or ram . What scope do you have on your gun.

For all these really hefty magnum springers, a sling is a must. I often use a safari sling so if the gun doesn't have studs installed, I can still sling the gun.

@Obeconobe710 жыл бұрын
Looks like a near perfect pellet rifle for squirrel hunting. For hunting purposes I think it's far more ideal than an expensive rifle with show quality wood. Who wants to scratch up a nice stock thats expensive yet to boot. Curious as to whether the springer or the new vortex would be a better option based on a review you did concerning gas pistons/rams. I know Rick Eutsler from airgunweb reviewed this same rifle and stated that it was a small game hunters dream. I intend to use whatever rifle I choose primarily for small game hunting and plinking more than serious target shooting or competition. So should I go for the spring powered version or the gas ram powered one? Thnaks
@americanairgunhunter10 жыл бұрын
I do like this gun, it one of the better shooting springers I've used in recent years and as you point out, at a reasonable price. The firing cycle is solid in the mechanical spring guns, I haven't used the Vortex yet. I met with the the management of Hatsan USA while at the NRA conference over the weekend, and will be getting some of their guns to test out in coming weeks. Will report when I have more info.

Hi Sir, Nice video. I have a question for you. Vortex or Spring version for Hatsan 125 sniper? Which is more reliable?
@ecoovert10 жыл бұрын
I have a Nitro Piston version. I got mine before they came out with the Vortex version. Mine produces over 32 foot pounds in .22 caliber. It also prints groups as small as .22" at a measured 50 yard distance with JSB Jumbo Heavy pellets. I never tried it with the spring but I do have the spring if I ever should need it. What I can tell you is at least the Nitro piston is much less hold sensitive, can be cocked for indefinite periods of time and makes the gun slightly more quiet. I'm not sure about the Vortex version but I'd bet the advantages are similar. I have heard that you do pay a slight power penalty with the Vortex version but can't confirm that. I can tell you however that 32 foot pounds in .22 is at least as much as they claim with the spring piston version. That's about what you might expect from the .25 version. I chose the .22 for the flatter trajectory while still maintaining plenty of energy at long distances and for better pellet selection. If I'm in a jam, I can always pick pellets up at Walmart for example. Not so with .25. I know you didn't ask me directly, but I would opt for the Vortex version for the reasons I listed above.

Mr Chapman, l have a problem with either my scope nikko stirling 3-9x42AO, or its one piece mount or the gun, the Hatsan 125.25 cal. when zeroed, it hits pellet on pellet groups no matter the distance. The next day, same distance, same pellet, same grouping but 5" off the center crossing, either left or right, up or down. every 10 shots and it makes groups all over target. Whats going on?? you ever had an issue like this?? it drives me crazy. Please answer... Thank you!

You said it puts out 22-23FPE,I have this in the Vortex(gas ram) and the springer version both in .22cal,mine did much better than that,I got 29FPE from the spring version and 27FPE from the VORTEX gas ram version..I love shooting both,BTW great shooting!
@ecoovert10 жыл бұрын
I agree with you on this point as well Renrick. I think I got lucky with the numbers mine is producing but with the right pellets in .22, 30 FPE is quite common. Mine is the nitro piston version and even with light RWS Hobby pellets it averages 26.98 FPE. With heavier pellets it does much better.

Hello, I love your air gun squirrel hunt videos , I am thinking about buying a pcp air rifle, what would your top pick recommendation be for squirrels in 25 caliber, I have always used a 22 rifle, I value your advice as you are very knowledgeable about air guns. been looking at FX wildcat and Daystate huntsman regal, senaca aspen to name a few or are there better choices out there,thanks
@americanairgunhunter5 жыл бұрын
I wrote a replay earlier but just noticed it didn't post. All three of these are nice rifles in their own way, and you wouldn't go wrong with any of them. The Daystate Huntsman Regal is accurate moderately powerful, and IMO the prettiest air rifle ever built. The craftsmanship is really outstanding in every respect. The Aspen is a good budget friendly rifle good accuracy and power, and of course it frees you from an air supply but still provides PCP features. But of these three, my choice would be the Wildcat as my main hunting gun, great accuracy, power, compact and ergonomic, fast cycling action..it has it all going for it. While I like the Regal more on aesthetics, the Wildcat is a gun I'd use heavy, bash it around, and think it has an edge on performance. I think in this group, the Brocock Bantam is one to look at as well. Again, depending on your taste and what you want to spend, any of these could make you happy. Have fun with whichever you choose, come back and tell us what you got and how you like it!

Jim, in your squirrel hunt, were you using the spring piston or air/gas piston. I ask because I have the spring piston and the recoil is really big. I didn't see much movement when you shot, which is probably technique, but I thought I would ask. I also ask because you were using some type of bipod, and I thought a bipod couldn't be used because of all the recoil. I'm a beginner and trying to get a handle on this monster of a gun. Thanks
@americanairgunhunter9 жыл бұрын
onthehighCs Hello, I was using the springer. When shooting a springer, especially these magnums with larger caliber, I use the artillery hold popularized by Tom Gaylord. Make sure you hold the gun in exactly the same contact points (forward hand on forestock, cheek weld, etc.) hold loosely, let the gun move without trying to rigidly grasp it or trying to prevent it from moving. When shooting off sticks I'll either lay my open hand on the bipod and the gun on my open hand, or I'll choke up on the bipods rifle rest and actually lay the gun on the web between my thumb and forefinger. It looks like its on the stick, but actually contact my hand which helps dampen the recoil. Hope that is of some help, any way you cut it, it takes a lot of practice to get good with a magnum springer.

So I'm going to be getting this gun in .22 caliber. I'm not sure to either get the spring or the nitro piston which one will preform better for small game, power, and accuracy?
@ecoovert10 жыл бұрын
Springers are known for being hold sensitive, particularly when you are talking about ultra magnum guns like this one. For accuracy sake I'd go with the Nitro piston or Vortex version. They are much less hold sensitive and can remain calked for as long as you want. .22 is the caliber I chose as well. .22 will have a flatter trajectory than .25 and ammo is much easier to find and has much greater selection. Truth be told. When you are talking about a gun that produces over 30 FPE. in .25, you won't have any power issues in .22 either.
@Kurtdog633 жыл бұрын
That's awesome Jim. Do you think there are any break barrels powerful enough to take coyote? Thanks for sharing.
@americanairgunhunter3 жыл бұрын
The first coyote I ever killed with an airgun was back in the late 90's, and it was with a Webley (Patriot as I recall) .25 magnum springer. What I do remember clearly is that it was a head-shot at 25 yards and it was ugly. So my answer is yes, but not the gun I'd recommend for this application... there is zero margin for error, and it's still not a guaranteed clean kill even if you do everything right.
@Kurtdog633 жыл бұрын
@@americanairgunhunter I shot several coyotes with subsonic .22 LR at 1050 42 grain. Looking at Seneca Aspen in .25. Magnum springers seem to be hard to cock. That would get old fast.

@Islandboi82110 жыл бұрын
The .25cal is suppose to give out more energy than the .22cal with the right pellet
@ecoovert10 жыл бұрын
That's also what I hear, but my .22 version still puts out over 32 foot pounds with the right pellets. With .22, you will never have a problem finding pellets that fit your needs. I know I can find pellets as heavy as 25 grains in .22. I can't see the need for anything heavier than that unless you are talking a guns that produce over 50 foot pounds or so. Back to your comment though, you probably gain 1 or 2 foot pounds with the .25 version over the .22 version.

RWS is a much nicer gun but the Hatsan is more powerful. If you're going to be using it out in woods and weather maybe get the cheaper Hatsan since it's synthetic stock is better for handling weather and scratches and is probably lighter to haul... Plus it comes with a sling. Can't really ever go wrong with a RWS though

@americanairgunhunter10 жыл бұрын
Its about much more than power. I've got several of the Benjamin NP Springers and they are good budget priced springers (BTW, I put the Hatsan in this class as well), This Hatsan has a smoother firing cycle and can out-shoot them consistently (in my hands). I'm curious,,,,, have you put your gun over a chrony? I ask because mine (I've got two in .25) are putting out in the 28 fpe range. At any rate the difference between 23 and 32 fpe is much less important than accuracy.
@whiff196210 жыл бұрын

Edgar Lombera Oh, sorry. Didn't mean to troll on ya. But yeah, Hatsan does real well to advertise what the gun actually shoots. My Mod 125 .22 shoots at a max 980 fps, with an average of about 975, over a five shot string. Not bad for a company that advertises the .22 to shoot at 1000 fps.
