The Gamo Swarm was excellent with the tight grouping. I fault the shooter for "Not having rezeroed the scope" to accommodate for the high grouping. In the beginning he had a strong preference for "HIS PERSONAL CHOICE!" That rob's the viewer of a fair and honest evaluation!!!! It's not the Magazine that won either!

Didn't zero the scopes first. Didn't use the same weight of ammo. ~12 gr vs ~18 gr. The shooter shooting the Swarm prefers the other airgun. Hmm. Not sure I like that.

@@stevenrobinson6296 that’s because the Terrus is a spring powered plant and is more hold sensitive requiring the artillery hold. The gas pistons are normally a little less hold sensitive

Before buying, I researched and bought gamo magnum 22 cal tried different pellets at targets to get a feel for it.open season on iguanas in South Florida they didn't have a chance last year over 165 killed from New born super small ones to the 5 foot and bigger. Love my Magnum😁

@@scouttrooperhh-1487 Ah yes the problem with airguns is they are relatively inexpensive, and you just want to buy more all the time.. I have the same issue with Real Steel weapons too. :(.. But the Valiant is a nice platform. Did you get it in .177 or .22? The only reason I didn't go with a Magnum Springer, is because I really have no use for it. Most of my small game hunting is done in the woods either rabbit or squirrel, and really the only open field I have is my back yard, which I can usually lure the critter in to between 20 - 30 yards. I don't need to kill a squirrel or rabbit at 100yds lol. But Im also fairly certain my Gamo could if I hold it 2 feet above its head lol. Its still pushing around 8 fpe at 75yds and 6 at 100yds. (With Predator GTO 11.75gr)

I've had my Swarm .22 for around 7 or 8 months now and the only problem I've had with it was the factory scope. It's probably had 4500 pellets ran through it and I can put all ten shots within the size of a dime at 25yds. I've taken raccoons, rabbits, squirrels, doves, sparrows and even a fox with it! Great gun at a great price!

Revo Joe depends on how much you want to spend. I just got a cheap centerpoint 3x9x32 mil-dot reticle and haven't had a single issue with it. Glass isn't the best but it gets the job done.

Fun and informative comparison guys. I just ordered the Walther Terrus in .177. The Gamo Swarm (in .22 cal) is on my list as well. My current favorite gun to shoot (and most accurate) is a Gamo Whisper G2, I shoot at 35 yards and consistently shoot half inch groups with Tomahawk pellets so your results did not shock me. The Terrus will be a nice compliment to that gun.

My first Breakbarrel was and is a Crosman MTR77 NP Scoped Air Rifle Caliber .177" (4.5mm) but it is only accurate for squirrel or rabbit hunting @ 20 yards, so today I ordered a Gamo Swarm Magnum 10X GEN 2 Caliber .22 (5.5mm) hopefully I can hit head shots on squirrels & rabbits @ 40 yards.

I have the Gamo Swarm .22 and really like it. The 10 shot magazine is great! The points brought out in the video are accurate. Mine does groups under an inch at 25 yards and I plant to test to 50 yards at the range. It is fairly easy to reset. Recently I also purchased a .177 Umarex Octane. WOW! Almost liking it a bit better for its accuracy over the Swarm. Very tight groups, but it is a bit louder. It does auto safe with each reset and the trigger is stiffer. It is heavier and I'm not sure if any to carry it around if hunting. The scope that came with the Umarex is solid and nicer than the kit scope from Gamo. I shoot the Crosman domed and hollow points through both. Overall, both are nice rifles. I like each for different reasons.

I have a Swiss arms. It puts out a reliable 1250 - 1370 fps. It will penetrate a street sign , if l use plastic skirted pellets, at around 30 meters.

It looks like the sites on the Walther would slightly interfere with the scope view and the pellet magazine would majorly interfere with the scope view on the Gamo. You didn't mention if they did or not.

Gamo Swarm Maxim .22 My review after 7 months and 4000 pellets. I have been shooting airguns since 1972 at the age of 12. So i have had a variety of air guns in my 47 years of shooting them. I was excited when Gamo introduced a break barrel rifle with a 10 shot rotary magazine so I ordered one with 2 mags. Like any airgun you have to get to know its likes, dislikes, and pellets it favors over others. I have read a lot of bad reviews, experiences, about this gun and I feel most of those were from people with just not enough patience, or time, to get to know this gun. I love this gun, but it has taken time to learn it for its true potential. I have shoot 8 different swarms all .22 cal so this will be for that caliber. I shoot to a maxim of 40 yrds most times so this will cover that range and some to 50yrds just for testing purposes. I have shoot this gun to 75 yrds, but in my opinion that's max for a humane kill with it shooting 16 gr. pellets. I tested with the included scope and a Centerpoint 3x9x32. Shooting and barrel conditioning, So I set up target at 25 yrds and just did a basic scope sight in with the supplied scope. Not a terribly bad scope but could use a much better one. Grouping at this yardage using Crosman 14.3 gr. round nose pellets was 1 to 1.5 inches. I wasn’t disappointed with this for the first few rounds. Some barrels condition up with 100 to 200 rounds, some take more as we all know. This particular one took almost 400 rounds to get the grouping consistent to a 1/4 inch shooting 10 pellet groups, of course there was the occasional flyer which i left out for grouping measurements. I’ll talk about how I prep my pellets later. Holding, and resting, the gun for accuracy, So once i started getting consistent groups I played wit different types of bag rests, and holding the gun loose and tight. This gun is not that picky for this but it takes practice, practice, practice to find the best way for you to become consistently accurate with it. I shoot from a sitting position most of the time off a modified tripod rest, or table, so I will explain how this works best for me and the fill in the bags I found this gun liked best, Yes that's right I try different media in my rest bags and it truly does make a difference in accuracy with airguns. Ill explaining my testing of this for this gun. as well ans the padding i tested for my tripod mount as well. I have found white rice to work best for me so that is what I started with and it seems to love that best. I used light media and my grouping was very bad. I used sand and same results, Grass seed and wasn’t to bad but still not consistent as it was with rice. I use a firm hand grip with a gentle shoulder pressure with the stock resting midpoint on the bag and that works for me. But like I said you have to play with this gun to find what works best for you but you will be rewarded with a very nice gun if you are patient and learn you gun. I have several friends that have bought this same gun and some find it great, some have cussed at me for getting one and they have brought them to me to shoot and tune for them. I have worked on 8 of them so far and all of them shoot great for me. but learning your gun takes time and patience and I have a lot of that. I have found that all of the ones I have shoot like the same way I rest, and hold, them for me and all are just as accurate, but with different pellets Pellets I have tested these guns like, Dislike, Basic pellet conditioning to start with is washing and sizing all my pellet skirts, I dont worry to much about head size as long as there 5.50 min. and 5.53 max. This gun doesn’t seem to be affected by that size for accuracy in my tests. some like Crosman, some JSB, some Beeman, but not a one likes the h&n pellets. Some will even shoot Ruger superpoint 17 grain, Mine loves them, just fine and others miss the target completely. So each barrel likes something different. Just because its your favorite pellet doesn’t mean this gun will like them. I couldn’t get a single Gamo pellet to shoot decent groups from any of the 8 Maxim’s I shot. Not sure why but they don't like them I shot 4 different Gamo pellets and the only ones that grouped decent at 25 yrds were the rockets. 3/4 to 1 inch groups firing 10 for measurement. Odd they make the gun and their own ammo doesn’t work well with the ones I tested. You may have better luck but I sure didn’t. I have ordered the new JSB Hades pellets and have yet to test them but they look promising to me if conditioned properly for my gun, I hope. LOL. How I conditioned different pellets for testing for best accuracy for each type of pellet, This is rather in depth and will cover a lot with this gun and how it performs the way I do my barrel and pellets for accuracy depending on the range I will be shooting at, as well as the pellet I am choosing to shoot that day. So i’ll start with shooting at home for squirrel, House sparrow, control at 25 yrds. I primarily use crosman round noise, and hollow points, for this at 14.3 gr. at a velocity of 748 fps. They are deadly accurate and rarely do i ever need a follow up shot. These pellets are washed first, Sized skirts, and lubed lastly. I use a 2 cycle oil for lube and do it a certain way so as not to get them over oiled. Over lube can cause sever in accurate pellet groups. I will shoot these pellets out to 40 yrds this way. Now I shoot the Ruger super point 17 grn with no lube and just washed and sized. They dont group well when lubed. To condition my barrel for these pellets I run a few patches soaked with GOO GONE just for a light cleaning of the lube then run a few dry patches through to clean any excess Goo Gone off.. After shooting 2 to 5 pellets they come into play very nicely and group well for me. i use this pellet for Rock chucks, Yellow bellied marmots as some call them, for penetration and deliver a very distinctive wallop on impact. The JSB’s I use occasionally I condition same as the crosman and weights from 14 gr to 18 gr shoot very nicely as well, The JSB’s are a softer lead than the hard lead from crosman, Ruger, so skirt sizing must be done carefully for these pellets. Now about the Magazines every one complains about, I, like many others, hated this magazine when I tried to load shorter pellets into it. They would not slip into the magazine all the way without using a lot of force or a small plunger to load them in it. Well after about 400 rounds they loosen up enough that now all my pellets slide in nicely and fit snug still. Love loading this magazine now, Quick and easy. 400 pellets to loosen it up was a pain but worth it. I can easily slip shorter, or longer, pellets into them with ease. So even if you don’t shoot every day like me just run pellets through it while your sitting relaxing and before you know it you will be as content with them as I am. The auto loader, I have never had an issue with the loader, Pellet feeder, in over 4000 pellets of different head sizes from 5.50 to 5.53 ever. I know some have . But all 8 i have shot, tuned, worked on and with have feed flawlessly for me. It is a bit to learn the best way to disengage it for barrel cleaning though. Other than that I like it a lot. The CAT trigger, We all know we like our trigger feel different. So this is just a set up i do for myself and what i like. Well right out of the box the trigger is pretty good for 1st, 2nd, stage adjustments. However Gamo could still refine it a bit more, But for $200.00, I got mine for $154.00 shopping around, it is pretty darn good. I shoot it for a couple hundred rounds like it came. But once my groups started to come around I removed it and polished the innards to take off the rough edges as well as adding a longer second stage adjusting screw. Now my trigger releases at just under a pound at 15 oz and it has an almost hair trigger. I release the safety and its glass smooth with just a slight feel of the second stage restriction just before it releases. I love it this way and set all my triggers up similar for my tastes. Finishing this up, I’m not a pro at this but I do know it takes time, and patience, with any air gun, they all shoot pellets, but that’s all the have in common… every one is different in its own way and taking the time to know your gun makes it as accurate as your capable of. If you expect miracles from it you better be the miracle shooter to make that happen. Few are. But you can make a Miracle happen with it for you if you devote your self to knowing your gun. I hope my review, researching, of the Gamo Swarm Maxim can give it the real credit it deserves as it truly is a nice, accurate, air rifle.

As much as I appreciate German craftsmanship I am also very familiar with the Gamo air rifle systems and remember reading an article years ago when Senior Gammo picked up a rifle that had just come off the production line and then proceeded to fire it for several thousand rounds, maybe 10K (?) with no problems. This impressed me to say the least, but only because I have several air pistols and air rifles already and primarily due to work I did not have enough time to shoot the ones I had so I put everything on the back burner - until now, so sometime tomorrow will either pick up a Swarm Magnum or the Swarm Maxxim in .22 Caliber since it has the technology that I need and want, and nothing more - meaning what I find unnecessary. The only fault I find with the design is the height of the loading system, anybody with any shooting experience knows how irritating it is to have anything to distract you while shooting with a scope, such as a front sight, and with this design it appears the rotary magazine is going to cause a problem even though it proved quite accurate during the test. So for me, if I were to take to the field to target shoot or to hunt small game, the loading sysyem would come off ASAP until I was convinced it did not bother me when shooting. For the price and technology in this offering I definately need one in .22 - and maybe even one in .177 since I have several thousand pellets in .177 cal. which I have accumulated during the last few years. I own both, and will take the Walther every time. Not even a debate worth having. My Gammo swarm is not the most consistently accurate shooter I've come across. In fact it's one of the worse in my modest stash, but my stash is Walthers, Weihrauch, Diana, Hatsan, and a couple of Crosman's from my ignorant youth. Must admit to loving the 10-round magazine and it's absolute reliability.

I noticed 2 things. He used a different grip for his Terrus than he did the Gamo. Also, he used lighter faster pellets in the Gamo and we all know those typically aren't as accurate as the slower heavier lead pellets. Make of it what you will. Both look like great guns.

How did you mount the Bug Buster to the Swarm? I'm using the tip off mount that comes with the bug buster & the rail adapter inserts. However after about 8 shots the scope begins to slide off the rail.

The rail adapter inserts are great, but not for powerful break barrels. We recommend BKL one piece mounts because they will lock down very tightly and not move a bit. If you have barrel droop, you can buy the BKL adjustable one piece mounts for a little more money.

I'm looking at buying my first air rifle and leaning towards the Gamo Swarm, hope this isnt a dumb question but I assume if somehow the 10 shot cylinder were lost or broken I could still do a manual load single shot?

There is another video on you-tube which shows the Swarm Maxxim being shot after having the system removed, so yes it is still capable of some very nice shooting. Sorry I can't recall the name of the person who put up the video but it is here somewhere with the other offerings. The Gammo's are an excellent choice for their quality, reliability, and price so you can't go wrong with one. I have several different models of air pistols and air rifles from 1960 till now and as long as you know their limitations you will enjoy shooting them. One of the guns I still enjoy is an old Marksman single shot, break barrel, patterned after a 1911 Colt 45 auto, and after 30 shots you're pretty sure you can feel muscles in your hands and fingers, but the neat thing, is how many people I have taught gun safety and how to shoot with this little gun. You indicated you were new to the sport so one of the first decisions you will need to make is going to be whether you might prefer a break-barrel, side-cocking, pump, or under-lever style of system to shoot. If you live here in the States there are a lot of retail stores where air rifles can be purchased for very reasonable prices. With Big Five, target and Walmart coming to mind and so far I have purchased a couple of my guns from each of these businesses, while also buying a few through the mail order from some of the ads in the gun magazines such as the Chinese offerings, one of which is a side-cocking weapon which is both powerful and extremely accurate and for $50.00 was one of the best deals I've ever made And for the ones you don't care for, there is always the wall, or e-bay where you can get rid of them in case you don't want to look at them again. Find a copy of "Air Rifle" and read what they have to say, as a matter of fact the Chinese Break-barrel I mentioned was featured and they had several nice things to say, considering it was a plain Jane, low cost item. When you are getting started keep it simple, good quality is a must, and there are always sales where you can get one for a decent weapon for a good price. One last item, when getting started you might consider keeping your first airgun's caliber to .177 since the pellets are cheaper and this way you can shoot all day without having to worry about the cost.

@@larrywhalen127 thanks so much for the info. I've had old Daisy's and crossman, even now I have a benjamin 392PA i just play around with. But all that pumping gets old. Lol. I'm looking for an affordable, accurate and quiet .177 and i really like the idea of that 10 shot swarm. Think I'm gonna pick one up at my local Academy. Thanks again for all the great advice.

In the last test... the single one start without ammunition and the other one start whit the full holder pellets out but everyone inside... to be equal the 10 shot barrel need to be empty

Isn't it better if a trigger pull is consistent with little variance more than a lighter inconsistent pull? Walther win if that's the case?

bag man Ask yourself that again. Would you rather a heavier trigger pull, or lighter? The Walter breaks better but Gamo is by far smoother and lighter. I own both guns. I hate the trigger on the Walther Terrus. It’s very thick

I never see reviews on the Benjamin Varmint .177. I own one and it’s a really good break barrel. With Gamo Tomohawks I can shoot the center out of a beer can at 75 yards. And it’s great for hunting too, as I’ve killed large skunks with a headshot at 50 yards multiple times. Please do a genuine review of this gun and maybe some of the other budget break barrels besides Gamo. Thanks.

Which optics are you using in the swarm and which in the terrus? The last one looks huge!

The Swarm has a 3-12x32 Bug Buster scope on it and the link is listed in the description. The scope on the Terrus is a Hawke Vantage IR 4-16x50 AO and the link is also in the description. The Hawke is a lot bigger scope than we would normally put on the Terrus, but it was what we had laying around.

You cant do an accuracy test between two diff airguns without matching those guns to the best firing pellets for the guns best accuracy. If only one pellet was available, thats one thing, but theres hundreds. You want to test both guns at their peak unmechanicallymodifier forms. if you did test between both using only crsman hollowpoints or something and then tested with the most accurate pellet would be good, and really informative. But not like this. IMO

Well, the Terrus has a big brother, the Parrus, but there are a number of magnum springers out there. The problem is finding something that can stack up against the 10-shot magazine, and magnum springers are harder to shoot accurately in general so that complicates the equation. That's a good question!
