Can you show update on this pond? I would love to see how well this filter works after a few years.

Great video! Question: I currently have two retrofit bottom drains with the air stone attached. Can i just attached my drains at the end of my grid? I'm trying to re-purpose instead of having to buy another set of airstones.

We use 12” air stones or diffusers. I would not think it would work unless you salvage them and retrofit them into the lift tube

@Steele's Landscapes , LLC. The Water Boss Yes, my retrofit drain would be at the end of the grid, opposite of the pump. I sent you a message on your website, hoping to get a return email so I can send you a drawing of exactly what I mean. Thx.

Hi: I am watching your YT video on Airlift suction grid and have several questions. I currently hoping to upgrade my pond (19 x 10 x 2.5) to a (19 x 10 x 4.5) with bottom suction grid. I plan to use 2” spokes on either 3” or 4” main pipe. I know that I can run a 2” system , but pondering about the 4” main section and Airlift… I will have to have an adapter from 2” to 4”. Which is not clear to me if it’s a good solution. Or I can have a 2” airlift. I could not find Cross adapter that is 4” to 2”. , but I can barely see you are using these in your tutorial video. Can you please send me the PN air description of the Cross 4” to 2” Slip part. Another question is how do you extend the Airlift below the Bottom of the pond ?? I only going to use the Airlift to circulate the pond water. , ie. the outlet of the A.L. Is submerged just below the surface. To spin the water towards the skimmer. I will appreciate your feedback. Thank you

It’s a 4”x2” Sanitary Cross. Google PVC parts online or go to local plumbing supply store. The bottom of airlift tube is installed inside liner. Dig a hole before liner and form liner in hole then the lift tube

This is super helpful! Thanks! I would love to see a similar walk through of an airlift up-flow bog filter system. Is it the same system of perforated pipes except with 12" of gravel instead of 6"? (i see 12" recommended a lot for bog filter depth) If the airlift has an under gravel suction filter on one end and an up-flow bog on the other does the 15'x15' rule still apply?

by perforated I mean holes drilled in the pattern that you talked about in the video. Sorry I'm not sure if you mean you don't use this hole pattern from the video or you don't use pipe that was manufactured with holes in it. I think I'm confusing my self now :/

You mentioned in the video that this filter will work up to 15'X15' pond. Would I need 2 filters for my 18 foot circumference round pond? I'll also be using a large Helix bio-mechanical reactor filter.

You could go up to 18’ diameter and still get good performance. We’ve gone up to 20’x15’

@@steeleslandscapesllc.thewa4902 I have read Mike’s article “So, you want a crystal clear pond”. He seems to indicate that 60lpm will generate 10,000GPh of suction, which is incredible. Are you using 120lpm per 15’x15’ area to get 20,000GPH of suction?

Would the airlift for this work using 2" pipe instead of 4" with a higher volume air pump?

@@steeleslandscapesllc.thewa4902 Thank you again Jason! I guessed that the extra volume of the 4" manifold would be necessary for an airlift configuration. In order to keep the cost down of the pond I plan to construct next year, I had already decided to go with the suction method but thought I would ask as I have absolutely no experience with airlifts. Keep up the great work. Love your videos. I'm also a fan of Eric Triplett and Leslie has been so helpful in planning my project over the phone and via email.
