Awesome! I made it to private pilot and feel very fortunate to fulfill my childhood dream! When I was a child in the 70's, dad used to take me and my siblings to the airport (Newark International), so that we could watch the airliners takeoff and land. I wanted to be a pilot for as long as I can remember. Finally achieved that goal at 32. Unfortunately dad (and mom) had passed away by then. I know he would've been my first passenger! I never made it to the military but always wanted to fly fighters, so the best I can do about that is enjoy DCS WORLD in my motion rig and VR 😂 BTW, like the amazing Captain in this awesome video, I was the only black student in my flight school when I enrolled in 1998. However, that mattered not to me because I was on a mission. I'll admit, I was a little surprised. Felt kind of strange, like I was in the 1940s instead of the 1990s. I'm just glad that I didn't make any excuses after I finally had the money to do it.

Impressive lady with a great attitude! We did not have any women going through UPT when I was in and her being one of the first was added pressure. In spite of that she did very well. Would have been a real pleasure to have gone through pilot training with her.

She is awesome. I cant imagine how she felt being black and a woman in those days becoming a pilot. Trailblazer for sure.

Look, she's very inspiring, probably the best at anything she does, and to be honest, who I aspire to be. But look at the comments made on the YT shorts you've made of this interview, most of them are about this yellow lighting that does not flatter her natural skin tone, and to be honest doesn't look any better on the interviewer's skin as well. As a long-time follower of this channel, it's my opinion that this type of production quality error is not acceptable. Please up the production value, and maybe ask her on site, to talk about the T37 in person, of course without this terrible lighting.

Who cares? Skin color doesn't matter, right. What matters is competency. And she is amazing.

@@dp92492 couldn't agree more. But it's a bit sad that all of the comments, at least on that very short, was about her appearance.
