Thanks for taking the time to watch this one. It was quite an adventure and, again, super impressed with the entire flight crew and the organization as a whole. Let me know if I can come check out your helicopter and operation! Stay safe, everyone!

@ well yes, you are correct. On the aviation side, we refer to the programs that Metro provides aviation services to as Metro programs, so that’s why I worded it like I did

This video was awesome! Thank you for putting it together. I love working for the AirMed. Team. Just FYI and to make things even better, AirMed staffs Reapiratory Therapists on their Peds/Adult team as well We fly with them in their Rotor and Fixed wing teams. AirMed can configure their crew members according to their patient needs. If an adult Nurse and Adult RT and a perinatal nurse os needed, we will make it happen!

@TheDrMedic we in Iceland could surely use the H145 ems helicopter..but there is resistance..cost!!! But with difficult terrain/weather/lousy road systems , the time factor is a strong incentive for a EMS helicopters...currently the coast guard H225 is used, a very capable helicopter but very expensive..and at times this resource is taken for the ems/mountain rescue..when in fact ther main purpose is offshore use...you should go to Iceland to check out the coast guard ops. ..they do a fantastic job..anyway fabulous channel..greetings from Spain/Iceland

Loved the video! Great seeing the old photos of the "BK" MU-2s, and the 1990's silver paint (though I much prefer the white, black and red). I was a little surprised that you didn't mention the 222 accident, given your focus.

Great video. And I agree, 24 hour shifts are extremely unsafe; both for ground and air. There’s some really busy ground services who’s standard shift is 48 hours.

Technical term: Horizontal stabilizer On the EC145: The left horizontal stabilizer is simply the left side of the tailplane. Function: Maintains the helicopter's pitch attitude by adjusting its angle of attack #teeshirt

16:31 & 17:25 *minimum* required shift time for the week, for full time paramedics & nurses is 36 hours. Not sure how that makes sense but when you said it twice… Perhaps I've misunderstood something but should it be *maximum* 36 hours for the week? Great video though!
@TheDrMedic
@TheDrMedic 9 күн бұрын
Hi @alanm8932 Every employer has some form of minimum hours to be considered full-time. The minimum at this service is 36 hours from three 12-hour shifts per week. That is the minimum. Many agencies the minimum is 40, 48, or even 56

WOW, awesome review and what an opportunity to participate in an actual mission. Hopefully it turned out ok, but even if the outcome was not successful, from the video, you can see that no effort/resource was spared. At then end, you looked so cold and I was like, "where's your hat?". Would have loved to see the FW platform as well, but you were busy. One question: What prevents the rotor blades from freezing in flight? I understand they are covered on the ground, but what about in flight?
@mattfisher5195
@mattfisher5195 8 күн бұрын
This type of helicopter doesn’t have any sort of blade de-ice. Some airframes do but the ones in the video do not. If you aren’t operating inside actual clouds, rain, ice, snow (any kind of visual moisture) at below freezing temps the blades won’t ice up. This aircraft is prohibited from operating in known icing conditions to prevent things such as the blades icing up

Do they not put their helicopters in a hangar?
@jaredd9716
@jaredd9716 8 күн бұрын
If the weather is forecasted to be really bad, they will reposition to their main hangar. However most of these HEMS bases are based at a hospital or leased from the city, like the base in the video, it’s a water reclamation plant; so no hangar.

23:55 -5°. Are we still on °C, like the pilot talking earlier or is this -5 °F? (-20 °C). Guessing °C as uncovered head & hands but sunny & no wind, so who knows?
