I thoroughly enjoyed this. So much better than the salesman bs reviews that last 2 minutes & only talk about superficial stuff like promos. I think you've helped me after 3 weeks of research I've been looking at everything. The one you didnt touch on I have looked at also is the Just1 j12 model. Which seems very similar to the airoh model twist I'll probably end up getting. Thanks for a stellar review. You say you wear an XL, my head measures 60cm so I'm going to try a large twist 2.0 & hopefully that'll be the end of this helmet saga 🤦♂️🤦♂️

The Just1 helmets from what I understand are DOT approved helmets made by....Airoh. How did the fitting go for you on the XL?

I was looking on the next for some exhaustive video review pertaining the Twist 2.0. I got it. I am thinking about upgrading my Downhill helmet to a safer MX one. Thanks mate!

UPDATE: My Airoh Twist 2.0 helmets have been my go to this season. I did take a header crash and my RACR visor cracked but I was able to use a bit of electrical tape to fix it back up. I have cleaned the helmets several times with no effect on materials. I did use one of the Airoh for a 3 day Dual Sport ride on pavement and gravel at high speed, up to 80 mph. I did remove the visor, and the helmet was great for pavement with goggles. I did that to avoid wearing a heavy street helmet for 3 days.

How your head feels in a helmet when riding slow isn't much about air flow. But, a properly fitted helmet that isn't heavy will certainly feel better than a tight helmet that is thick as a brick. I know that there are times when I'm exhausted and stop on the side of the trail and literally gasping for air, can't get that helmet off fast enough! Blessed is the helmet then that is light and has good easy chin straps to allow for easy off and on.

It would be nice if the manufacturers spent a bit more time and effort into making the internal pads better. That is where much of the energy absorption comes from and needs more material that lasts longer, it also needs to be tough enough to handle a machine washer. A person washes their socks each use, a helmet liner full of sweat and grime also needs to be regularly washed. It's also a matter of comfort. Would be nice if there was a company that specifically made these as an upgrade. All of this does add to cost, but I'm a person that is happy to pay for that.

I wished you would have touched on ventilation I have the Bell motoflex 9 and I love it it's the nicest helmet I've ever had and I think that one of the reasons is the ventilation on it is so good I'd be interested into knowing what the competition has in that regard

Only the cheek pads should come out when you pull the emergency strap on the aviators. The foam part is supposed to stay put inside the helmet.

GREAT videos on helmets (needing a NEW helmet myself now) - no price is to high for safety. Never put much thought into the internals part (goin to have to really be more picky now).
@dagsterblaster49734 жыл бұрын
That carbon Bell is a very good helmet, available in many colors and graphics. Those magnetic internals are nice, and the total quality and functionality is excellent. The internals and all parts can easily be purchased if you need a replacement. That helmet is indeed going to be safer than a Airoh I showed, while being a little bit more heavy. I'll always own a Bell Helmet while having a Airoh for slow hard core rides where weight is key.

@@dagsterblaster4973 the mx 9 is it good?
@cust893 жыл бұрын
I own the bell mx9 adventure and after 3 years of use, I have to say, it's a bad helmet. I have always irritated eyes after riding with it. This is because if you drive above 50-60mph there is wind constantly blowing into your eyes. I tried to close the vents same the chin section but it doesn't help that much. I ride a Husqvarna 701 supermoto, only on the street.

What's your head shape? Mine is round, and I'm having a hard time finding a comfortable helmet. Are Airoh helmets made for round heads?
@dagsterblaster49734 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure. If you can fit a Bell helmet without an issue, then an Airoh should work. One guy I ride with uses a beanie instead of the upper helmet liner. It gives him a better fit, higher quality material, easier to wash. He does keep the side/ear pads on.
@shoua74 жыл бұрын
@@dagsterblaster4973 I've tried on a few MX helmets at my local Cycle Gear, and the Bell (not sure which model) fit okay. For street I wore an Arai in medium, but for some reason for MX the large sizes seem to fit better. Besides that point, most helmets squeeze the sides of my head.

Thank sir, How about Airoh Aviator 2.3 AMS2 or 2020 ?
@dagsterblaster49734 жыл бұрын
I bet the high end Aviator is fantastic but it's a ton of money and the replacement cost of visors, I'd buy at least one at purchase...pretty expensive. Considering it would last for only 100-150 rides, that's a bit less than 2 years for me.
