Every band that had to follow them onto a stage regretted agreeing to the line-up!
@VincentAgostino-gy6hr5 ай бұрын
@@dancarter482 Reminds me of when Alice Cooper was just starting on their Love It To Death tour. They weren’t headlining yet but any one group followed them was in audience hell. I saw them as the 2nd of 3 bands at the Fillmore East in 1971.. Everyone was expecting a female singer, instead we got Vince, the snake, the straight jacket, The Ballad Of Dwight Frye, a kickass band and a theatrical execution. Poor Bloodrock (the headliner) never knew what hit them.

The monologue was David Lee Roth talking to a woman in the studio who was wearing old-school stockings w/ garters instead of pantyhose, and evidently some sexy heels. They just mixed it into the song, much like the monologue in "Unchained" where he was teasing the producer.

Y'all want a HOOK from Van Halen? Man, don't even look past their "Fools" from this same album. Blazing guitar solo entrance, then down to the baddest riff biz maybe they've ever done. "D.O.A.' is another one, not the greatest song overall, but the hook is sick af! EDIT: Just heard La say "Damn Skippy!" re VH as Top Five material, lol. "I grew up with them, and didn't know it!" = classic quote. Such lists are so tough, man, once u know some bands. Zeppelin is #1 for me, no question, but then I have like ten Number Two's LOL.

I've seen Van Halen a few times. I saw them on this tour. Alex had this insane rotating drum kit with flames and fire that would rise up, suspended. He wore a bug eyed helmet(fire protection I guess) and, whew, it was awesome. Never forget it. Was at the old Omni in Atlanta.
