Pretty disingenuous to keep saying the pro 2’s are double the price. 180*2=360. They’re double the price of the regular 4’s but those are also lacking key features. You’re gong to get better noise cancelling on the pros because of the silicone tips. That plus MagSafe charging, precision find my, and the hour of extra battery life are the reason they’re more expensive. I don’t think the 4’s with anc should be 180 though. Those would be a better value in my eyes at 150.

I was planning on getting the new AirPod Max’swhen they released. To say I am disappointed is the understatement of the decade so far. The fact that they didn’t add anything new besides a different port but they kept them the same price is ridiculous. And what’s even more mind boggling is that the cheapest AirPods have the H2 chip but the Max’s don’t.

I wanted an over ear headphones for a while and saved up some cash for it. I didn't want 4-year gen1 tech, so waited for this event to get APM2. Right after the event I immediately ordered Sony XM5.

Noise canceling is always going to be better on something that fully seals in your ears with tips like the pros. Unfortunately I've been getting ear pain from pros so probably will try the 4 non-pros with ANC. I want to see reviews first though since I don't suspect the ANC will work very well on the non-pros given the lack of sealing. Might just end up with the regular 4's.

for me , i find that the airpods 4 ANC is a major upgrade on airpods open fit because we don’t say anything about the quality of their products and for me , i think that the normal airpods with noise canceling is a promise that maybe Apple can be the first society to get the best open ear earbuds to have this functionality and i have to say that this function will be better on this product than the other one So , i think this is an innovation that nobody talk about

I got airpods pro 2 with USBC and I got ear pain after wearing them for an hour and I didn’t even have the music up loud at all. Don’t know if its the silicone ear tip being my ear to long or what, but hopefully the airpods 4 are more comfortable

It’s more like they are closer in value which makes people think between the two and if they are already considering AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation, they are more likely to buy AirPods Pro 2

It’s a bull**** Apple move to release a 4-year-old product as brand new, simply because they’ve changed the charging or connectivity port-and still charge the same price. By now, those headsets should cost half of what they’re asking. It’s like buying a 4-year-old iPhone for $1,100! I’m seriously considering switching to another brand next year because I’m tired of Apple’s tendency to either keep users waiting or overcharge for outdated technology. I’m really looking forward to seeing how the Sony WH-1000XM6 performs next year. I’ve waited over two years for the AirPods Max 2, and this latest Apple announcement has been incredibly disappointing... like the worst kind for me, the last straw. They are really pi***** in every apple fan out there...

Let’s just agree that they didn’t need to improve on the sound because they’re that great. The fact that they didn’t change anything and left them the same price is absolutely ridiculous. They should have dropped drastically. The other thing that is crazy, is that the cheapest AirPods (at $129) have the H2 chip but the most expensive ones don’t. Makes zero sense.

The blink and you'll miss it refresh to the Max shows to me that Apple isn't serious about competing in the over the ear headphone market. None of their competition would wait 4 years to add a USB-C port and no other changes. It's pretty disappointing as I would have been interested had there been more changes/updates to the Max headphones. I'll still pick up the 4's with ANC but it's a much different experience than an over the ear headphone.

I presume they didn't want to upgrade the hardware because they didn't want to add "Adaptive Transparency," which a person would most likely use outdoors. They don't want you to use it outdoors because it isn't waterproof/dustproof, etc... The reason they didn't want to do that was probably because they would have had to change the entire design of the AirPods Max since they likely prefer the comfort/aesthetics of the mesh design. Thus, there would be no reason to upgrade the hardware or redesign it for outdoor use and are pushing users to get the Beats Studio Pro with lossless for those reasons instead.

I agree, I was extremely disappointed to see a lack of any internal updates for the AirPods Max. I was holding out for the 2nd generation, especially that purple color, before buying them. But to see that they didn't even give it the new chip, I'm frustrated and probably won't be buying them any time soon.

I think Apple made a mistake. The H1 in AirPods Max should’ve gone in the AirPods 4. And the H2 in AP4 should’ve gone in the AirPods Max “2”.

There are several important differences between AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods 4 higher model. But the reason d’être and main difference is that there is a sizable market of people, such as me, who don’t like the feel of noise canceling earbuds which all seem to come with silicone tips and the way they feel in our ears: the pressure that the seal creates, but still want noise cancellation. I’m very excited about trying the new 4 and possibly unloading my 3! I’m with you on AirPods Max anemic update.

Why change something that is exceptional. Except the old lightning port that was bad ⁉️

I find it actually pretty simple: if you don’t want/can’t use rubber tips, but want most of the features from the pro then you go for the 4 with ANC And if you don’t mind rubber tips and want better noise canceling, then you go for the pro2. I’m not sure what’s so confusing about that.

I think the pricing and features of the airpods 4, 4 with ANC and pro 2 makes sense. You are right about the naming though, base airpods 4 should have just been SE, 4 with ANC should be just 4. I think the airpods max refresh was forced because the usb-c requirement in the eu, apple wasn't ready to release the max 2 yet. They probably would have done the max 2 in fall of 2025 and they just couldn't force an early release for 2024, that's why all they changed was usb-c and new colors. Now since they were forced to refresh they will probably push the Max 2 back to fall of 2026.

I agree about the Max even though I’ve never owned them. To me, those are not Max 2. They are just a relaunch of the originals ones with USB-C. The only reason I can think of as to why they didn’t upgrade anything else is that they plan on releasing and actual upgrade in 2025/26 and they have some tech in it that’s just not ready yet. Because of this, they didn’t want to have those lighting variants on the market anymore so they did the relaunch and added a few colors as a bonus🤷🏾‍♂️

Airpod 4 ANC version does make sense. A lot of people don't like closed earbuds, but would still like the ANC feature. I have Samsung Buds Live which are open ear, and even though ANC wasn't the best, it was still decent.
