@@shadowios7033 It very possible that they are comfortable, I haven't used them for any extended period of time, but the use of plastics or other composite materials is defintaly justified in the name of eight saving. You see this on high end headphones like the hd800s and the Abyss Diana phi.

The engineering is very impressive. I want to buy a pair, but I don’t like over-ear headphones in general. The small compact size of AirPods Pros have really spoiled me, and the fact that I can have one in at a time is just very convenient.

I gotta break it to you, plastic and metal both have their own advantages and disadvantages, where plastic doesn’t leave scratches on the surface but metals do, plastic doesn’t deteriorate in water over time while metal rusts, metal is harder to break than plastic but plastic is more elastic than metal, plastic is light while metals are dense and heavy, metals are more “precious” but they both are very fashionable, metal is advanced while plastic is simple, etc. It’s no controversy, it’s just that everything has a trade-off caused by a change in the product, both for the better or for worse. I would still get the Sony M4s over the AirPods Max.

@@afill471 The AirPods Max don’t need to go into a bag, the transparency mode is so good (the Sony sounds like a microphone from a child’s toy, so I understand why you’d put it in a bag more often), and they’re so comfortable, you can keep them on your head all day with absolutely no issues. Otherwise, just put them in the case, and stuff em in your bag. They’re made out of STEEL, not plastic, they have a SMALLER foot print than the Sony’s because they are wider, and thinner. So they don’t bulge out like a damn football like the Sonys do.

@@shadowios7033 Actually, the weight of the headphone is said to be kinda heavy for some consumers of the headphones and the band is not made out of steel, it’s just the extension part that’s is made out of steel as the rest of the headphone is all aluminum and plastic. I would never see myself stuffing a “purse” into a bag as it’s purpose is to protect the AirPods Max, which unfortunately does not do it’s job as it’s not magnetic enough to stick onto them. Yes, the sound is pretty great, but for something you can get for lower value. I’m not saying you’re incorrect, but I use the Samsung Buds+, something thats much smaller than headphones, has ambient sound as most wireless headphones and earbuds do, has great quality sound, which can adjust to your preference in highs and lows and its half the price of the Sony headphones, and 400 bucks cheaper than the AirPods Max. About the footprint, the cushioning area of the headphones are exceptionally larger than the Sony headphones, which of course makes it more comfortable, but again, I wouldn’t pay over $500 over headphones that have similar specs as the headphones that cost $279, small changes are just a beginning of something much better in the future, hence the reason why i wouldn’t buy them until they make their 3rd edition of this product, with many improvements and more features made. Also, speaking of transparency mode, I’m not the type of guy who would wear headphones 24/7 outside, only in the subway, which means it’s not likely that I would take advantage of the transparency mode.

It (the article) doesn't say Sony and Bose's headphones look like toys because of the plastic, it's because the insides of those headphones look so messy with the seemingly thrown in together circuit boards and wiring, whereas the AirPods Max look super well-crafted even on the inside.

The reason they use plastic is to make them lighter and thus more comfortable. Heavy headphones get uncomfortable quick and can make walking around with them not a very enjoyable experience. Which is a complaint I’ve heard about the AirPods max

i never had condensation. and i wear them in the winter right now. they dont even condensate when i go inside from very cold to really warm. i have seen the pictures in the news, but i really dont know what these people did with them, maybe they took them for a run or they sweat from their ears? a friend of mine also has them and he too never had condensation underneath the earcups. so i dont think it is a widespread problem.
