I am no techie but had no problem with set up. It did take a couple tries to realize Echo Buds will only connect to one device at a time - at least it seems that way for me. The tap controls are 'very' sensitive and the sound is clear. I've been using these off and on much of the day for a couple hours at a time with no discomfort. I'm quit pleased with this purchase and will prob bite the bullet and join Audible to help get through all those books waiting to be read.

I used them both in the gym with my music. Sonys took my heart. The base is incredible. You can''t go wrong with the airpods too either but if music is what you want from your earbads, sony is the clear winner for me

They sound a little bit more clear but once you put them in your ears you will understand the difference since the airpods lack so much base that they seem dead compared to the sonys. Especially for the kind of music I hear that is mostly music and not vocals, sonys are by far the best. They get you pumped up

The active noise cancellation sounded better in the AirPods Pro as you could still hear voices come through with the Sonys but the AirPods seemed to drown out any indications of people speaking better. It seems that while the Sonys are great for low frequency noises like a plane engine, it is less capable of dealing with the higher frequency sounds of human voices, which is one area Apple really tried to improve on with the 2nd generation

I disagree regarding the foam tips and fit of the xm4. They are really bad, like I mean REALLY bad. A lot of people have reported issues with the included the foam tips, and I think most people dislike them. I would advice anyone to throw them away and buy an actual good pair of foam tips or get a nice pair of silicone tips for optimal sound, comfort and isolation.

They are really comfortable for me but after sometime the foam tips tend to chip off and it looks really unhygienic now... I would be getting a pair of silicone eartips as a replacement

I have both of these. I love them both. The Sony M4's have been pretty impressive. I've had them for about an year now. I mainly use them for the gym, cycling, running, and also for airplane travel. The biggest cons for me on the M4's are that the buds are relatively heavy and adjusting them becomes a constant problem especially and obviously when running or cycling with them. Another con would have to be the fome tips. Although they are great and far superior to the Air Pods Pro 2's tips, (Don't at me), keeping them clean is annoying as they get oily really fast and ear wax is pretty annoying to clean off as well. The fome tips also attract dust and debris which is also a constant thing to be cleaning before every use or else your ears will become irritated and itchy, I know... I know. Another con I have with my M4's is latency when gaming on my mobile device. I've made adjustments to them in settings as well as on my phone settings and made mild improvements. Lastly, and sadly, another con I have with my M4's example is that they are not consistent with their individual battery life. I often find that the battery life of either the left or the right ear bud can go drastically lower than the other. Sometimes one of them dies out first leaving me to just put them away and recharge them. That said, the pros are definitely the looks. They are far superior to the Air Pods Pro 2 design. The mat black color gives them a much more sleek and luxurious look and feel. The bass registers are much fuller and deeper which I appreciate more. The ANC is still above the Air Pods Pro and those tips definitely give them the upper hand. The app is great allowing you to customize and fine tune your sound and can even get louder a tab bit louder. On the other hand, my Air Pods Pro 2 are amazing. I've only had them for about one week but I already appreciate how comfortable they are due to thier lightness. Adjusting the volume is also much better implemented then on the M4's. The call quality is superior to the M4's as well. The cons I do see happening on my Air Pods are, although really comfortable, they'll definitely have to be pushed in or adjuted because I can see these falling out far easier than the M4's especially if you swaet a lot during your gym sessions. I also don't like the white color and that not all features are supported on non apple products, which I use these on a Samsung atm. (Currently waiting for my iPhone 14 to get here). They're both great and about the same price range. So far I'm really liking the Air Pods more but I think the M4's are still at top due to the in depth fine tuning and anc experience.

Wow! The AirPods Pro 2 is a major improvement compared to the first Gen. Although, I think I'll stick with the Sonys because of its ability to have a custom EQ and LDAC support.

If your ears can hear the difference LDAC + Tidal on an Android phone is great. The added details in the music also translates in a bit of added volume. I can EQ them to sound much better than in this comparison and frankly I am surprised they sound so bad in this video.

from personal experience I have a sony airpods wf1000xm4 And I have two phones iphone 13 pro max And Xperia 1 iv The sound from the wfxm4 It's very normal on an iPhone and I feel that the sound is a little low But for the sound when I connect it with Xperia 1 iv I find it much better, the sound is loud and clear and the bass is higher , i don't now why but I think Apple makes the product work on the iPhone well if it is made by Apple only

I have both and I have to say for me the Airpods Pro 2 are much more comfy and doesn't cause me any pain or discomfort.. I've been using Sony WF-1000xm4s for over a year and I really do not like the way they fit in your ears.. it just gives me discomfort and gives my ear pain after awhile. I never have this issue with the airpods pro 2s. I could wear them all day and even forget I even had them in my ears. Comfort is the most important thing in any good earbud/headphone and the APP 2 are the best for me.

@@xXcharlie313Xx I know right… I’m actually so happy with them, but when I first got them I couldn’t choose between AirPods and the XM4’s, and chose the Sony’s because of the sound quality. I guess sweat or wax messed with the speaker twice, though. The volume has dropped and that makes the noise cancellation and transparency modes less effective. Sony should’ve installed some kind of grill in the tube that goes in your ear, because that spongy thing in there isn’t doing it for me 😂

The durability on them is really bad. And the worse thing is that in the UK there is no official easy way for you to buy official replacement tips from Sony. This is despite Sony acknowledging the tips as something that will need replacing and selling them directly to consumers in the US.

I've noticed a shocking difference between the sound you get when you first listen to sony products and when you adjust their EQ settings (at least this was the situation with my sony linkbuds S). At first they do sound similar to the xm4's, very low focused and with muffled vocals (especially that of female). However, once you adjust EQ settings to prioritize high's and mids you get an identical if not better sound clarity then the apples. Basically, the xm4's are pretty trash in everything other than sound and noise canceling, but there are other sony products which can be better than airpods.

noit really.. the thing is, Airpods Pro have adaptive EQ, so depends on track they sound different as they adjust to the song. it's pretty difficult to compare preset to adaptive eq. some songs might sound better on sony, while other definitely will sound better on the airpods pro 2.

I get really irritated searching for speakers and headphones that do justice to female vocals because most midprice brands damp down the highs and as a result make female vocals fade into the background, which is esp noticeable to someone like me who loves listening to genres where the female vocalists already tend to sing in a higher pitch, like Soul or Hindi Movie music. @@insoserious right out of the box the airpods pro 2 will be better for female vocals or other higher frequencies. However, you can always adjust sony earbuds to your liking using the Equalizer settings (basically adjusting which frequencies you hear more of or bass intensity)

With comply true grip pro's wf1000 xm4s are much better. Sound, comfort and especially noise canceling. With them i don't hear anything around me. They go way deeper to my ear canal than stock one's. It's fair to compare xm4's using stock eartips, but they are just terrible. My soundcore LP3's have better noise cancelling comparing to xm4's because sony's don't fit well with stock eartips. Even if LP3's stock silicone tips are on xm4's, everything is better comparing to stock sony foam tips.

My Airpod pro 1 died quickly right after the extended apple care warranty and I switched to XM4. XM4 is great but sometimes I missed airpod's ease of use with seamless switching between iPhone, apple watch and iPad. If I am to replace my XM4, I shall go for airpod pro 2 again but with a foam tip

I have both and MTW3 are more bass heavy while AirPods are more clear and clean. Both are good but I’m sticking to AirPods since I work with MacBook and invested on apple eco system. Noise cancelling is better on AirPods.

Bro, you must have a busted pair of WXM4s because mines with the adjusted EQ sounds superior to what you're hearing on the AirPod pros. 2. Mines are louder. More punchier way better base hands down. Maybe out the box. If you're just going based on standard then yeah I would say the AirPods probably sound better because I don't have EQ but that's the whole point of an EQ. You can customize it to sound how you want it to sound and the Sony XM4s just like the XM3 sound better than that. My XM3s and my ex and fours do not sound. Nothing like with your hearing

Just got a APP 2, i will say the biggest draw back is the over kill noise cancelling and there isnt an option to adjust it . (Tends to make me uncomfortable after long hour , feels like build up pressure in my ear). Whereas sony wf1000xm4 gets to adjust it. Sadly i am already both legs into the apple system, so might as well try it out. Btw thank for this awesome comparison video aaron !

@@gtaphotosig you are not alone in this, its definitely from the ANC i have a wh1000xm4 and a wf1000xm3 both i have to tone down the ANC to reduce the cabin pressure sensation and the ringing effect after long hours of wearing in office/at home. Surprisingly its quite ok if i am commuting or at noisy environment.

Aaron, you did it again and nailed it with an objective and non-biased review on AirPods Pro 2 and Sony XM4 ANC earbuds. I actually used all AirPods Pro 2 and Sony XM4 ANC earbuds as well as AirPods Pro 1 and Sony XM3 ANC earbuds. Personally I think AirPods Pro 2 beats Sony XM4 ANC earbuds for excellent ANC, sound, comfort, lightness and portability. The sound is out of the box great, no need to tweak aound with an app. It is the simplicity that makes Sony XM4 ANC earbuds too cumbersome to use, especially they are not comfortable to wear for long hours. Also they do not block out sound as great as AirPods Pro 2, and AirPods Pro 1 has even better ANC than Sony XM4 ANC earbuds (these are overrated). Actually Sony XM3 ANC earbuds are bigger and yet they sound better, more natural and more comfortable to wear than XM4 earbuds. Soundwise, I agree AP2 is clear, clean, crispy. I think AP2 outwins Sony XM4 ANC earbuds easily because they are now less pricey, and they no longer work badly (or not as good) on Android phones like they did with AP1.

I'm disappointed that my old Sony XM3's sounds better than my new AirPods Pro 2. To me the AirPods are only louder than the Sony's, but seems flat. My Sony xm3's has better highs and better bass, but isn't loud. I'm listening with Amazon Music Unlimited with Ultra HD sounds

I used my new wf 1000 with those foam tips. The pressure was awful and after a few days developed an ear infection, pain started in my right ear stabbing pain followed by ear ache, then a fever and horrendous headache. Dc told me that the foam tips case friction within the ear canal causing infection. Funny thing is the doc uses same sony we- 1000 earbuds, he says don’t use that foam . Any way brought some spin cp360s No pain. But..... lost 30% anc and a lot of bass, have to use equalizer . Shame because the snot foam sounded sooooo good. But what’s the point if it’s painful and dam dangerous. Still spraying antibiotics into my ear.

Bonjour Aaron ! (sorry for my message in french but i'm so bad in english) Comme d'habitude, comparatif très bien mené. Jai une petite remarque : j'ai actuellement les wf-1000xM4 et je n'ai pas du tout le même rendu. Je suis en ldac, sans dsee et sans équaliseur. Le son, chez moi, est bien plus riche, plus ouvert. Sur ton extrait, ça manque clairement de clarté, on dirait que c'est enregistré dans un tonneau 😅 Quand tu les portes, tu as une meilleure qualité du spectre audio ? C'est dû à la recompression agressive de KZbin ? Merci en tout cas pour tes tests ;)

Les échantillons sonores ne seront jamais aussi bons que d'entendre le son directement des écouteurs parce que vous entendez ce que les microphones entendent. Il s'agit d'une comparaison relative car le son des deux écouteurs est enregistré exactement de la même manière avec le même microphone. Merci encore d'avoir regardé et pour votre commentaire !
