California needs to bring back prescribed burning to stop these large wildfires.

"Prescribed butrns" is the most idiotic and backwards practice. Besides number of times those stupid "prescribed fires" actually end up a runaway-wildfire, due to lack of competence. California needs major competence overhaul- in fire department, as well as other occupations. Here you got "heavy equipment" that caused wildfire. Other time it was prescribed burn. Other time someone had electric meter/box cause fire. All that!

@digimaks Did you notice that in the last 10 years, the frequency and size of wildfires has increased significantly compared to the past when prescribed burning was a common practice in California?

Moscow Airport being on fire is just a coincidence. I noticed I can't find the name of this "Airport." A few news stories say a ww2 blimp was destroyed in a bunker, no bush in sight. We didn't find out about the Japanese fire balloons until long after ww2.

So... County heavy equipment operators didn't know to pack fire suppressant gear in this record breaking heat, knowing that sparks can be emitted during operations of said equipment? It seems like a significant oversight for county heavy equipment operators to be working in record-breaking heat without proper fire suppressant gear, especially given the known risks of sparks from heavy machinery during such conditions. Operating in extreme heat increases the risk of wildfires, particularly in dry environments where sparks from equipment like bulldozers or excavators. How about heavy-duty saws which can emit sparks, especially when cutting through hard materials like metal, concrete, or stone and can easily ignite fires. In high-risk fire zones, it's typically expected that crews are equipped with fire-suppression tools, including extinguishers or water sources, and follow strict protocols to minimize the risk of fire. Not only would fire-suppressant gear be critical, but operators should also be trained to recognize and mitigate these hazards. If this wasn't accounted for, it points to a lapse in safety protocols or a lack of awareness of the heightened risks during extreme heat. Preventive measures like ensuring fire watch personnel are present, maintaining clear surroundings, and having equipment ready to suppress any potential fire should be standard in such conditions.

how hard would it be to have a hand held fire pump and at least 100 gallons of water on scene to put out a fire like this??? Did they not have a contingency plan in case this happened???apparently not!!

This exact place burned in 2016. Fire prevention is rather irrelevant when temperatures are so far above the average high.

@Ryan_hey We're dealing with this mess all up the west coast, even in northern British Columbia. Once it gets a start, there's no stopping it, well, not until or unless the Good Lord gives us the weather to help in knocking it down. I can guarantee that this will be an annual event for many years to come...

invasive vegetation piles over the years as dead brush. When it ignites, that's a heck of a lot of fuel and native plants can't cope well. This clears way for even more invasive vegetation to sprout and the cycle repeats. It doesn't help that 90% + of these fires are human-caused and occur much more frequently than ever before.

How incompetent can you be to cause wildfire with"heavy equipment" ???? And I guess it is a California habit - to wait until a small fire increases into 1000+ acres wildfire, only then they order firefighting planes to the area! Of c ourse - why hurry ad put out fire when it is small and easy to put out? We gotta wait until it becomes hard to tackle! (sarcasm)
