Not sure about Air France, but in the USA, if your flight is delayed, you will get money compensation according to how long you have to wait. Doesn't excuse them from profiling him every time,but at least the airline will pay for it.

Story 1: Yeah, stuff like this is why flying ever since 9/11 has been nothing short of a nightmare. I get the heightened security, but there is no way that the OP was "randomly" selected here, and multiple times at that. I can understand the frustrations from the other passengers here, but this is 100% on the security agents here, not on the OP.... not in the least. Story 2: Uggh, always new jerk managers that have to ruin everything for everybody. The malicious compliance here was pretty funny and seemed to work for the better since they got their discounts back and all that. Mr. Smith should feel lucky that there wasn't mass walk-outs over the way he was but it does seem that he got a bit better in time and the OP learned a lot from him. Sometimes people's attitudes and egos need to be knocked down a peg or two. Story 3: Yeah that boss was pretty dumb here and absolutely deserved to be called out on this. Some people really need to mellow out and think before they do stuff like this. Story 4: I have no idea what company chain that was, but this story alone should've made them change their uniform shirt rules for pretty much everybody. Sometimes i dont think head office gives stuff like this a lot of proper thought when things like this get implemented, but good on the OP for the funny shirt underneath... i would've done the same. Story 5: OP is not a jerk at all... the dad is and anybody that is taking his side and/or harassing the OP about what she got in the grandmother's will. The dad totally deserved to be cut out of the will for abandoning the OP and everyone that is on his side likely hasn't been told the whole story of him abandoning the OP. I'm sure those people were told lies or an abridged version of it all. I dont think a lot of them would be pestering the OP about "being a good daughter" if they heard the whole story. Story 6: Honestly, i would've told this stupid Karen to screw off here. All of those questions were just invasive and inappropriate and the OP had every right to counter with equal invasive and inappropriate ones back. OP is not a jerk at all and that Karen just needed to mind her own business. You reap what you sow here, and the Karen couldn't take it. Story 7: Well, the OP is not wrong here. While i get that no other SO's were allowed on that family trip, saying that 'we arent family' was a bit uncalled for. By the same token and standards, the OP had every right to turn around use the exact same words on Nick's mom here. OP is not in the wrong and not a jerk or cruel. Another case of you reap what you sow here.

Yeah we all know people aren’t randomly selected for an extensive search. Whenever my family comes back to the US from Mexico, we randomly get checked every single time. Same thing happens to our car at border crossings. We are Mexican American but we are also US Citizens with US passports. This only ever happens when we enter back into the US, not the other way around. One year it was so bad the TSA agent threw out my mother’s entire suitcase onto the table and she had to repack every single item. They screamed at us for taking so long to repack the bag when it was the TSA agents who literally dumped it out without a care in the world. Honestly we rarely go back to Mexico nowadays since the politics of 2016, the hassle is too much and our dignity is destroyed every time.

See through shirts. Yep. Had a company issue everyone mandatory high-vis yellow tshirts as part of a new safety program. I started wearing cheap tank tops underneath because the shirts were pretty thin. One of the supervisors even joked that if she wore a polkadot bra we’d all be able to tell.

For that airport one they could have a specialized line off to the side for these kinds of situations if a passenger has a large quantity of electronics that need to be inspected. That way other passengers can get through more quickly.
@LillidieGurke11 ай бұрын
Story 1: The thing is, when I was at an airport, they asked me to give them my Nintendo. When I asked why, they straight up said they needed to check electronics, to make sure it's not a rebuild bomb. I was 15 at the time lmao. I do get why they wanted to check as much of OPs stuff as possible, they probably didn't expect him to have that much tho.

Last story: what is that fiance even on about!? It was his mother who said that she as well as her soon-to-be daughter-in-law weren't family yet! Well guess what that goes both ways not just her way! It's like the original poster said the mother-in-law doesn't get to cherry-pick when they are or aren't family. The mother-in-law really ended up shooting herself in the foot with what she said and I think she recognizes and is regretting it.
@vexxama11 ай бұрын
Exactly. And the fiancé needs to recognise that no significant others were going on the trip. Does marriage not count either? He says a family trip is ok to exclude people from but a chili recipe is too far? Guy needs to grow up and not assume his mom (read family) is in the right. If anything, he’s excluding his fiancé from being considered family too. He acts like it’s petty revenge when it’s just being consistent.

As a former TSO who worked for the TSA I can understand why they wanted op to remove there electronics since you can easily mix up things like a cord or anything with lead. Story 1: Third option: the OP was being ethnically profiled. Given their Middle Eastern (Lebanese) looks, as well as the fact that they were "always randomly selected" for these extra checks, it sounds like the security checks are actually specifically targeting him, even if it's not really possible to prove. In which case I don't blame the OP for getting a bit cross with them, even if I would consider it a bit of a dangerous play to maliciously comply under these circumstances. Story 2: Agree with the narrator. He may have taught you a lot in the long run, but you taught him a valuable lesson early on. Maybe the reason he taught you so much was _because_ you let him see the error of his ways, and this was his way of showing his gratitude. Story 5: Ah yes, the "because faaaaamily" argument. Your dad is toxic, as is your extended family. Cut contact with him and anyone who supports him. And if you suspect he or the family will take legal action, contact a lawyer pronto. Story 6: "You should have been polite and answered her questions"? Seriously? She has _no business_ demanding that. It's OP's decision to tell her or not. This woman was a jerk, and so were her companions who defended her. And since she was _not_ taking no for an answer, I'd say extreme measures were necessary. Story 7: Nope. If OP isn't family yet, then she's not family yet, and that works both ways. OP isn't being petty by refusing to share the family recipe after she was denied the chance to go on a family trip for the exact same reason.
@ashleylindsey893311 ай бұрын

Story 6: Is it against any laws to divulge information that sensitive to a complete stranger? I feel like it is, but I may be wrong.
@MarsJenkar11 ай бұрын
@@JamesDavy2009 In the US, laws regarding disclosure of medical conditions are primarily governed by HIPAA. Contrary to popular belief, this law doesn't _prevent_ a patient from disclosing information on their condition to others _if_ they wish to (though in some situations it may be unwise to do so). But it _does_ give a patient protections against having their medical information disclosed against their will or without their knowledge or permission. So like I said, it's OP's decision whether or not to disclose that information. And if OP says no, then it's no.

If you think CDG is bad, go to Frankfurt, after my last trip through Frankfurt, I came home, cancelled my Order for a new Mercedes, sold my BMW and started to systematically scrub German products from my life and the life of my company. Funny thing, we made inquiry about replacement for German origin items in our company, we were deluged with alternate suppliers and our bottomline increased significantly. My next target was Chinese, same result!

Asking about someone's gyno visits in response to questions about your medical conditions is sure to get you labeled TA by at least half the people you ask. The CORRECT response is to talk about your medical condition. In excruciating detail. I should know, I'm a storyteller. And it's apparently super annoying. But it's so goddamn hard to answer "yes" or "no" when I could say "well, I was on my way to work at Best Western in 2008, eating a Wendy's chicken sandwich while driving down rt 82 when I blinked. HUGE mistake"..."asked my manager if I could go to the ER, but she had a date and there was no one else to cover my shift, so, like an idiot, I worked my shift with double vision in both eyes"..."and my mom, who's awesome, drove behind the ambulance all the way to Yale New Haven hospital"..."and one baby doctor had this bright idea that maybe they could just force my eye back into the proper position if they used metal forceps. You'd think they'd need to like bring me someplace? Numb the eye? Or at least give me something to calm me down, but NOPE. WE'RE GONNA DO IT HERE AND NOW, DON'T BLINK!!!"..."and after I was paralyzed, unable to move or speak, the doctor leaned down and said 'now this going to feel like you're burning alive, but you're not', and then they injected the dye directly into my brain"..."agreed to let a baby doctor do their FIRST lumbar puncture on me so I could go home and, well, he did much better on the second try". "WHEN DID THEY FIND THE BRAIN TUMORS?!?!" "Huh? Oh, uh, not until three years later. Anyways, after a week in the NICU, they let me go home. But THEN-" "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!"

First story : for context, if it is recent, France is in a reinforced security mode for one month in a half now, after a teacher was killed by a terrorist, rising the number of attempted attacks all around the country, especially bomb threats. It is very possible that policy is part of the reinforced security plan and that the op was a victim of it. That said, the '' random selection '' and overall attitude of the security guard was very uncalled for and could come from a place of racism (it is on the rise too thanks to our lovely right wing). I don't blame the op for maliciously comply but I feel for the people missing their flight. That is terrible. (security guard was a jerk and op too, kinda, but could not do much about it).

to the last story : i have more than one opinion on that was it petty just in comparison of the importance ? like a family trip holds a lot more weight than sharing a piece of info about food and i gues viewing it as you don't give up that little info just for paying back, yes of course its petty but at the same time she rejected you first so they should be the grown ups to just accept your no and go on with it. blackmailing you emotional with it is just the jerk way to handle it but its normal either way they act how they feel plain and simple they feel wronged = you evil and realising that makes the whole szenario just more pointless. in fact they should be gratful for the good food you provided for them.
