Former TSA officer here, thank you so much for taking the time to explain not only to your kids but also the video that the tsa is there to keep you safe. People use their kids to do horrible things in airports which is why that all has to happen now.

Sometimes it’s just dumb though. We were flying with twin toddlers and a 3 yr old. One toddler had a stomach issue and we got him a Gatorade. They insisted it was for me and not the toddler, and threw it out. It was sealed and it was 4 in the morning. Common sense sometimes should prevail.

I'm honestly glad TSA is a thing! I was pulled aside as a teen at our connection flight and she was so kind! It honestly made me feel much safer to be on my 2nd flight in my whole life. I'm sure they have saved many lives. I will never understand how people are inconvenienced by them keeping you and others safe.

I used to be frightened of the TSA before I had flown. But after experiencing the airport security checkpoints, I realize that it is nothing to be afraid of. I realized that the TSA officers are mostly very polite and courteous people. I got partial pat downs on all of the flights I have taken in the past, and it was nothing; just like a quick massage.

Jess, we do a fair amount of traveling and years ago (I won't explain WHY), I made up a list of "things" to not forget. I have it on my computer and before we leave, I print it out and check off everything that applies. You can be as detailed as necessary but it works wonders and I never have to second guess anything. Give it a try, I know you do a lot of traveling and it really helps.

When i was traveling to Tennessee from Jersey I went to the same airport y'all did and I was traveling with a cat and 4 year old so it was MUCH harder and stressful cause just checking in and everything made us miss our flight. Still to this day my cat is traumatized and the security in that airport (I'm not gonna say the name) was rude in my opinion. I was wearing slides while traveling and they made me take them off even though security could see the bottom and everything. They are just trying to keep everyone safe and do there job which is very important and I'm glad they are keeping people safe after 9/11 happened.

Like girl what am I hiding inside my scrunchie 😂 And then another time my shoulder got flagged when I was wearing a tight cropped shirt, like wouldn't you be able to see if I was harboring something on my shoulder 😂 I'm not salty because I know they're doing their jobs and I appreciate them, but the things they pulled me for seemed silly to me at the time 😂

@@natatron TSA is a joke they have put me through hell, i have rods in my back and they pull me every time .... have stuck their hands down my pants saying they are checking me for explosives out in the open for all to see... UMM the rods are down my spine in my body. NOT in a packet down my rear end...I have missed my flight as well due to this invasion of my personal privacy. Have been pulled into a room and held due to rods in my spine, even have a medical card detailing all this. This is not to protect us its to control and condition us. To hear Jess tell her son this is for our safety is an utter joke, NO its NOT. They have many other ways to protect us with incredible technology that has been in use for yrs, this is nothing but over reach. My son works for Southwest and he knows so much about all this and could tell horror stories ALL day about these evil lunatics!!

When my daughter was little she was wearing a sweatshirt over her overalls and set off the metal detector at the airport. They immediately took her over to another spot and asked me to gather all of our things and sit on a bench. I tried as hard as I could to tell the agent she was wearing overalls, but he told me to stop talking. She was scared and was crying for me. I was ready to put hands on someone for touching my child and not listening to me. Finally a female agent came over and listened to me and took me over to my daughter. I probably would have been arrested has that lady not listened to me and understood the situation!

In my travels anywhere, I have to specifically say Upstate NY (I am also from Central NY) when people ask me where I am from, otherwise they think I am from NYC! There is far more to this state than concrete and skyscrapers!! They also tell me I don't have a NY accent lol. Umm nope, I'm not from there!

Girl I could not even imagine. Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, and LA all recommend getting there 3 hours ahead. Im usually there well over 2 hours before. 45 minutes is cutting it waaayyyy too close!
