As a brand new pilot I love watching these air safety institute videos. Good information in all these videos with very little doom and gloom, just good information for all to learn.

This is excellent information. Nailing the approach means something extraordinarily stupid would have to happen to have a bad landing. After turning final, obtain the 1.3 of stall for your speed, trim to hold that speed and you'll have a squeaker of a landing. These guys are directly on point!

Basic information we are all taught by our CFI but cannot be stressed enough. Get ahead of the plane with a stabilized approach and it will make the landing easier.

First time I went to Catalina I totally overshot the strip. No macho involved, I knew if I tried to put it down I would have broken something. Easy enough to turn around, announce and land.

Questionable information. "Set the power to the same level every time"? If the headwind on final is stronger you must have a higher pitch (for a slower rate of descent) and higher power (to compensate for the increased drag of the higher pitch). Most of the time the change in pitch and power is very subtle, but the key thing to understand is that pitch and power will be different, not the same, for every approach. Approach at 1.3 x Vso? For the Skyhawk shown in the video the recommended approach speed is 60-70 knots, which is 1.8 to 2.1 x Vso. Correction 04-22-20. For a C172P - Vso CAS 47 x 1.3 = 61.1 = 60.6 IAS. 61 IAS is on the performance chart.
