I just notice that each time you put it to safety the spring resets which is similar to the WE Katana. This is a great AEG and great alternative to an M4, Scar or Masada platform. The only downside is the magwell.

Apparently, same thing as with WeiTech MSK. File down a little bit of plastic in magwell and it works.

@@WeaselLevelDesign Didnt realise that was such a problem. I got ICS midcaps for it but my steel midcaps which I bought for my F2000 work fine too. So I use those, without problem. No my main problem is the plastic switch on the folding stock. It breaks far too easily.

I have this gun but I got the more updated version which out of the box shoots 440+ fps .2 with a m120 spring .. I'm currently using an m100 spring and its shooting 391fps .2 consistently. Update also features a quick change spring guide I dont recommend an 11.1v battery if you running a lighter spring like I am otherwise it's going to over spin since the new motor is the ics turbo and shots burst in semi if you use 11.1

Hi, KhanSeb. I just got my APE yesterday and I love it! I got the long barrel version in black. Have you figured out if there are any other mags that will fit in this gun? Not a fan of the mag that came with it. Feels really cheap especially when you consider just how well made gun itself is. Oh and I apologize if this question has already been answered. :) I will also like to say I love your set up for this gun, Seb. Very slick!

Its been 2 years so I hope this answer wont be needed but: Metal G&G midcaps work fine. I also have 9 ICS midcaps but since the plastic feels a little clumsy (not to mention it falls apart if the bottom piece falls off) I dont use them often.

Nah, it's just that the gun was designed for hi-caps which don't have a long protrusion behind the feed hole because of the trapdoor. Midcaps have this protrusion which usually contains the end of the feedhole spring, and the top of the magwell structure in the APE isn't quite far back enough for this to fit inside. It won't affect the resulting fit of the mag, only whether it can fit at all.

@@WeaselLevelDesign It was not designed for high-caps. Just get midcaps that fit. Metal G&G m4 midcaps fit just fine. Last week I ran out of bb's on the field and some guy threw me a random mag. No idea what it was but it worked just fine aswell.

take for example the usp. the safety is a decocker. which un arms the hammer. which the first shot needs to be double action. while in this case the first shot only arms itself. but in a double action shot it arms itself before firing.

TestSubject92 In the airsoft world you don't really need to use the safety so much. The advantage here is that when the piston is pre armed, the shot will come faster (since the piston doesn't need to make a full travel to the rear before being released). I understand it might be annoying though. I'm not sure what to think about this.

KhanSeb Well I do like the idea of pre armed piston. With some AEGs, the delay after trigger pull is really...annoying might be the right word? I have to say, I like the concept of TM PSG1 much more. I don't think I need to decompress spring during the game and because I'm using safety pretty often, the hidden lever for piston release seems more logical to me.

+Kelly Daugherty Hi-caps stock. According to reddit airsofters, you can file a small bit down inside the magwell, which prevents the lip behind the feeding hole on midcaps to fit. Once filed, it should fit your midcaps perfectly. Note that both the PMAG and EMAG he is using are midcaps.
