I bought the short barrel „Kit“ Last week and Played it yesterday. I actually bought it just for asthetics and maneuverability. I thought that the energy loss would be way more than nov said in his product video but its actually about 0,2 joule less with the m170 and 0,48g bbs. The best thing about the Short barrel is that my gun Finally shoots straight🙈 with the Original barrel it had(as the internet calls it) the „batch5 disease“... it was shooting always with in a curve to the right. Made some nice and accurate hits yesteday and i dont regret the purchase of the short barrel🙌

As beeing 15cm shorter, how did it effect to range? Does it fly quite same path, or do you have to aim little higher at 50-80m shots?

Marco M Not noticably. I can confirm, its just like nov claims it to be. Dead straight. Its just the same as the Long barrel. Of course with the Energy loss of 0,2j in theory you would have to tilt the gun up ab bit but i did not notice that i have to. And the field is quite big 🤷🏼‍♂️

@Novritsch one thing you should mention is that the SSG Full Thrust takes a higher spring to reach 3J while the longer barrel does it much easier. This is a big point and I am considering switching to the long barrell FT after topping out at 2.8J with M170 and the 2 largest spaces

So after 200mm it does not matter for accuracy, but it helps with spring efficiency. Good to know.. You would be surpriced to know how many retailers that does not know this! 👌👏👏

It's true, but if u have too much air volume in the cylinder then the air when exiting the barrel makes something like air bag and it can curve the bbs in many direction, but you can make this dissappear when using heavier bbs. It really depends on product :)

Bore quality is the most important factor when it comes to inner barrels in airsoft. Much more important than length or diameter. The bb travels along the top of the inner barrel not on a magical "cushion of air" .

Exactly, the bore quality is by far the most important factor. Do you have a link for the test that shows the bb riding on top of the barrel? I know there is one from HS5 , but there was also one with a see-through barrel and a high speed camera (which is the one I´m trying to find).

Novritsch inspired me to try sniping. Recently started sniping after 21 years airsofting with aeg’s and spring shot guns and gbb pistols. Started with the love it or hate it ares striker AS02, (I love it) didn’t want to spend a fortune on a rifle to decide sniping isn’t for me. Only thing I’ve done so far is fit M150 spring, it chrono’s at 462fps consistently on .2 bb’s. I am currently using .3 bb’s range is pretty good and accuracy with .3 is ok, suffering a bit with drifting at maximum range. Now have some .33 and .36 to try out.

@@skyfator hi, still sniping, still using ares amoeba striker AS02, I have changed hop arm and nub from stock to gunsmithy items, and changed stock hop rubber for a maple leaf yellow autobot, now using .32 bb’s. My original intention was to try sniping, if I liked it I would get “a better” rifle. But to be honest I really don’t think I will change from the AS02 for me it’s perfect

Novritsch you made me get into sniping and i love it man. I currently have a vsr10 build with all AA internals shoots a bit hot for my areas at 450fps with .46 but i love it i can hit targets at 250+ fts like nothing. But im thinking about getting a shorter barrel for a more comfortable platform. One day ill buy one of your snipers its just hard to get them shipped to my location.

I really like the video but from my point, if I'm in a building I always switch to my sidearm. 1st, I don't want to hit a player up close with 500 fps. 2nd, maneuverability is easier with a sidearm. That's what i do :p

Great video, Very informative but you didn't mention range, is there a difference in range between the short and longer barrel, I was under the impression that longer barrels( to an extent) provide slightly better range, is this shown in your experience testing guns ?

when play airsoft, is it possible to play a short barrel sniper in a CQB area with at least 425 fps far away from enimies around 70m to 80m (i dont even know how long the CQB arena is because im a starter and i havent gotten my airsoft M416 gun, but im just wondering) is it possible.

If distance from enemies is 70-80m, that's not CQB anymore. Low FPS semi-auto rifles can be used in CQB areas, as long as they are not springers

Just how heavy is your AEG? Tho you could get something like Scorpion Evo, not too heavy due to being all polymer, still a kick ass. And there's really no reason to get SSP1 when KJW Hi capas and WE Glocks exist..

Dear Novritsch, Here are my hypothesis regarding to the short and long barrelled rifle: Short barrel = greater power BUT less accurate (short travel, consistent speed) Long barrel = less power BUT better accuracy (due to long travel inside the barrel, the speed decreases) Correct me if I'm wrong.

No. You're wrong. Longer barrels have better power as the bb has longer time to accelerate, not decelerate like you said. In terms of accuracy they are basically identical
