Believe it or not, the airsoft optic in this video has been mounted to a 7.62 AR and never shifted zero. That said, the parallax and dot quality are still absolute shite.

@LN2_Burst Wikipedia has a good article on it. Pretty much dot moves off target when your eyeball moves in relation to the optic. You will miss if your eye isn’t centered exactly where it was when you zeroed the sight. Shitty sights will have more parallax.

My cheap $20 optic has that parallax issue but it does hold zero out to 100 yards. Works surprisingly well for normal range use, I just have to make sure to keep the dot centered in the optic.

I would 100% use a real optic or gbb or anybother simulard recoil system because airsoft optics break easy and dont hold up to any sort of recoil even on a .22lr and yes thats what a gbbr, bolt, and ngsw feel like in terms or recoil. yes i know you can see where they are going but its faster just to use your sights and in a gbbr you dont have the luxurary to spam the trigger unless you have a drum or an aeg mag conversion which requires you to have an air tank. At for a regular aeg, it will last far longer than anything else for if you play in adverse conditions like the winter or rainy season because inclines are slippery when they are muddy, they can fog, and moisture can get in. Also the flex.

Vortex is a great brand, and their budget options can be below 200, but that’s still a lot to blow on a scope for most people. I mean hell my gun is 250 so a red dot for 30 works perfect for me. If I go with gbbr though I’d rather get a proper red sor

Parallax. Dot doesn’t stay centered on target when you move your head while looking through the optic. Cheaper optics have terrible parallax.

Look at how much the dot moves in both optics when the camera moves. This is called parallax. Cheap dots have a lot of parallax.

That is usually false unless you are running a dot on something like a 12 gauge. I’m very cheap (and poor, great combo I know!) and I have ran plenty of airsoft level optics on real weapons and the recoil was a non issue. I imagine you might start to see issues when you get up to the 30-06 territory. Biggest concerns with the cheap dots are the parallax pictured here, and the spotty QC. Sometimes they will not hold zero but I have not encountered one with that problem.

The main reason why people use these optics is because the price. A cheap sight is about $30, however a real sight is about $200-800
