I think a round with weapon reloading off would’ve been interesting because the AA team could scramble their positions again when the A-10 leaves to rearm and the A-10 would have to choose targets wisely

However the amount of times it would have taken to fly back and forth from the battlefield to the airfield wouldn’t have been very exciting to watch with also the plane being repaired every time it returned could have dragged this out for hours which is why I didn’t do this initially. Wanted to focus on what the a-10 could do with skipping all the times it would need to return to the airfield to reload and be repaired

This just reminded me of playing in the old "World War mode" beta back in 2017-2018 range. It was Soviets VS Germany on the Kursk strategic map (not the game map) and the Soviets attacked a German convoy with IL2 bombers, the convoy was guarded by Pzr 3s, Ostwinds, and Werbelwinds. The Werbels shredded then entire Soviet player squadron, and only lost 1/3 of the convoy trucks. It was kinda at that point that I realized CAS REALLY needs other distractions to pull the attention of the AA off of them, be it fighters, tanks, or artillery.

This mod was fire. Sad it's not going on now. As for the AAs, historically there was way less AA vehicules per column than there was in WW mode, so that's the main reason

Tbh as long as the A-10 keeps CCIP dropping bombs with the infinite ammo there isn’t much of anything the SPAA can do with how fast bombs reload and how crazy forgiving bombs are when killing most SPAA. Honestly glad they decided to go for guns at least a bit, otherwise it would’ve been pretty boring imo (and would’ve denied us the BRRRRRRRT we crave!)

Keeping his distance and slinging his bombs was smart. Moving in close where they could more effectively engage them was the death of them. But also blowing up your own jet doesn't help. But otherwise the A10 dominated especially the last guy! A fun video!!

Reminds me of the first time I saw an A-10 in the game. a friend of mine called me for a custom battle and told me to hop on my Kugelblitz. I shot him down twice before his first kill.

Most players don’t play the smart way with the A-10. They just get up close and are surprised when they’re shot down quickly. Gotta keep your distance so that the SPAA have a harder time to hit you.

Flak 88 can't use in game for example you want to explode bullet at 1600 meters, first you need to find a terrain at 1600 meters far away, make rangefinding at here and it sets fuse at 1600 meters. Now you can shoot a plane if he is passing at 1600 meters away from you. İts impossible.

For the last round you should’ve done 6 a10’s vs 33 spaa because the best single a-10 killed 5. That means collectively each a10 would have to kill a little over 5 each.

This reminds me of a realistic battle I once played, a guy flying a BV238 was being followed and shot at by my the majority of my team. It took a bare minimum of 9 planes to take him down. At the end of the game he was at the top of the leaderboard with 7 kills. That BV238 took off and fought hard. I’ve never seen a BV238 go down in such a glorious way! Edit: I take a 1 month break avoiding social media and I see 100 likes?!! Why thank you everyone!

I am glad to see my suggestion made into a video. I have a few more suggestions tk consider SU-25 in the same thing. I would imagine the SU-25 would outperform the A-10 here. The SU-25 has a much larger selection of unguided weapons including bombs and rockets of all sizes and has APHE rounds for the gun(although penetration is kind of weak). I would imagine the preferred strat would be to lob S-25O rockets at targets from a distance. Napalm could also be a useful weapon here Modern SPAA vs WW2 prop aircraft. Which one is up for debate but I think this time the aircraft might have a better chance at overwhelming the SPAAs than with in this scenario. Battle of the low tier speedy bois. BT-5 vs M22. Both are noted for being very fast and a popular meme tank that sometimes makes it way up to top tier for meme reasons. I would imagine this one would be a rather even fight since both is rather capable of one shorting the other(BT-5 has cramped crew and 45mm APHE can one shot M22) but I think the BT-5 has a more stable platform so it can shoot sooner than an M22. This one have player skill be a bigger factor since they are rather evenly matched.

I figured out for playing ww2 SPAA its best to find a spot where you can see the enemy planes coming in and with something to get behind for cover.

Would make it hard since most German AA has default camo which compared to other nations it's harder to spot them which makes sense, since in the last bits of ww2 the germ airforce was wiped out and the main focus of destroying planes was by easy to design/cheaper ground AA and hell if n.germany lasted longer than 1935-1945 then you'd see more well armored AA like the coelian be used more often

@@Jammikkar1 nah, the Kugelblitz was destroyed mid match, was the M15 and a lucky shot. I would bet that the Ostwind and Ostwind II, M15, M19 and similars have chances of destroying the A-10 with not much effort if they hit. 20 mm still can but need more ammo and I feel that .50 cal would struggle a lot to even scratch the paint of the Warthog. .30 cal AA present there are ludicrous, what the hell are doing those? XD

I don't have the a-10 but my strategy would have been to circle a little and look for the tracers. Spot the spec. Unleash everything on it. Then dive down and use speed to my advantage. They can't keep up in tracking.

Idea for a challenge: Spawn in 15 B-29's set up in 3 chevron formation and all the bombs at 30k feet or so. The challenge is for the players on the ground to try and survive a carpet bombing run on one of the smallest maps. You could even do different nation's strategic bombers to see how it compares.

The AAA fire is very cool. Simulating either a night raid, or a WWII Bomber mission against a German target would be incredible. 15th Air Force raid on Ploesti for example. One of the maps has what looks like a refinery.

I'm thinking about starting a tree removal service. But instead of cranes and ropes and chainsaws, I'm just gonna buy a used A-10 and blow the hell outta the trees to knock them down. The A-10 is such an ICON. I love how Air Force higher-ups and Senate defense committee members keep trying to retire it but the Warthog keeps showing how invaluable it is. I've seen a lot of comments from vets saying the A-10 is like a Guardian Angel to infantry on the battlefield. It's saved A LOT of American lives

I wonder how an A-10 would do with cluster munitions? The effect of the 2000lb bomb was generally immediate destruction, but the spread wasn't as pronounced as a cluster bomb could be.

In an engagement like this where all of the AA vehicles can only rely on visual sighting and their autocannons/machine guns, the A-10s altitude and smart targeting by pilots is what gave them the edge. As soon as they got low and committed to diving attacks, they got shredded because they were now on a predictable course and close enough that there was little to no time to dodge the incoming AA fire. If the A-10 pilots had kept using high altitude bomb drops and saturation attacks with rocket barrages, they likely couldve kept out of reach on the AA and minimized what damage they would take. Gun runs were a bit dangerous, though long distance attacks with shallow dives mightve done the trick. That last A-10 pilot did great, though.

Meyer stared, his mouth agape, as the sound of the after fire of the mighty machine ripped through the air. This, was the new era of Aerial Warfare.

If all 3 A-10s played like the last one they'd have obliterated the WWII AA. First 2 played too much like "I'm in an A-10 that means I can just dive into WWII era AA fire and live". Last one played much more like a bomber with only the occasional short gun and missile runs which is much more effective because that leverages the altitude and mobility advantage the A-10 has against unguided gunfire AA much better.

Staying high in the air as the A10 was the best strategy, in the last round the first two A10s died because they got too close to the ground.
