Airstream Renovation - Pulling Out Floors and Tanks

Four weeks into the renovation of our 1972 Airstream Sovereign 31 foot. Pulling out the subfloor, floor insulation, black water tanks, and first looks at the frame.

we got the "why tear it apart" question a lot. Can't imagine not having torn ours apart to see what really needed to be fixed. We are currently renovating a 23ft 1973 Land yacht and needed to replace 6 outriggers and the crossmember all the way in the back of the frame, and we replaced our axles with new ones. Completely worth it to do it this way! Great job!

Well done video! I typically don't love music in these types of videos, but because its generic and low volume, it was actually not bad. Mostly though, I loved the content about the progress. I'm thinking this is in my future to, but sadly, I'll likely have to farm out the work. Look forward to your next video on this project.

How much is the subfloor fix costing you? I found an airstream and I'm contimplating buying it, but I know it's gonna be a big expensive job.

I've got a 69 27" and am doing what you're doing. One thing I did to remove those bolts in the floor was to take a 1/2 inch drill bit and drilled the head off those bolts and knocking them thru the the plywood with a punch. Just a helpful tip. Can't wait to see yours when you get it completed.

Good idea! Does the 1/2 drill bit take a while to get through the elevator bolt head? It was slightly annoying to cut around the bolts and cut them off, but overall pretty speedy.

No I took a center punch and set a starter prick in the head of the bolt then drilled the head off. They are mild steel, that is on mine they are.
