Love this concept. This layout and design was very similar to what I had in mind in the Class B market. I love the European influence because of the open & airy feel as well as the sophisticated fit & finish. Airstream is smart for collaborating with F.A. Porsche design as I’m starting to see the a few European influences and companies come to the U.S. in the class b market (Wingamm + Panoramic). It would be fun to pull this behind our Cayenne S.

This is a very, very nice caravan. An Airstream that is truly suitable for European and also Japanese roads with a centrally placed axle and what is obviously Knott GmbH coupler, overrun brakes and handbrake and maybe chassis also. Possibly too the air suspension which I know that they also now produce. The Hymer-Erwin influences on the pop-top roof and interior are very obvious and I like that.

I love Airstream campers. I love Porsche 911s. What a great design partnership. I'd love to have one in my garage, next to my... Audi Q5 towing vehicle (in fairness, the Porsche Mecan is a really Audi Q5 with a different skin, so I'm good). Please build this!

Wow, where to start? This is a great example of adapting ideas from around the world, good for Airstream to start to think outside the box. I know Airstream has reserve Manufacturing Capacity at their facility in Jackson Center Ohio, so I assume they want to take advantage of that by entering new markets and expanding others. With a product like this they can increase their Sales Overseas and in the USA. The "Collapsible Roof," to my knowledge, first introduced by VW, on their Vans is revolutionary in Travel Trailers, again a first. Obviously they want to cater to the Small Car crowd! Better MPG, and Garageable, it doesn't get much better that! I am not sure how they are going to address Air Conditioning, but I am sure that can be solved. The "Rear Door" is again a great idea, improved View and the ability to carry Bikes/SurfBoards etc! The Trailer's Chassis and Coupler allows for Sales around the World, and breaks with the USA's transitional method! The Overall Size and it's Minimalist Design makes sense to me! I'll give the concept a Passing Grade, go for it! This will be the smallest/lightest Airstream ever made, so hopefully the price will reflex this also.

Porsche developed a V-Twin engine for a Harley Davidson Motorsickle called a V-Rod. Harley-Davidson really stepped outside of their box with that collaboration. Porsche and Airstream will be a win win combination for the consumer.

I like the concept and the Porsche brand (I have four P-cars myself). The ability to be able to park the camper in the garage is a big plus. And the aerodynamics of which Porsche is famous for. I am not a fan, however, of the open rear concept. When I am in my RV trailer (yes, I have a 31ft RV trailer-non-Airstream), I like living in it. I spend my time during the day outside and the evenings/mornings inside enjoying the comforts of home. Great concept though. And to mention one advantage of travel trailers such as this one is that you can use your tow vehicle as your exploration vehicle, rather than having to tow a vehicle behind a motor home. More convenient and efficient.

The cost would be the number one concern. Then second, what kind of vehicle could pull it. I worry about the back being open and the number of bugs that will get in due to the lack of a screen. Is there air conditioning or heating?

My idea for the tailgate would be to make one piece that folds down from the top. It would double the deck space and could have legs that fold down and maybe a railing that pops up. And of course, an awning that slides out.

I remember when the Basecamp was a concept between Nissan and Airstream. Then it was produced. Don't be shocked if this actually gets built. Unfortunately, the dealerships are keeping the company behind. I feel Thor needs to spin-off a legacy brand with airstream quality, fit and finish as a direct to consumer brand.

I'm sorry but this design looks like it has been done by designers that have never been RVing. If you really want to design a small trailer better than an "original" Airstream you need: Design or include air conditioning and venting units that do not stick out on the top. Avoid pop-up ceilings that have disadvantages of tent trailers: These Don't hold in the heat, don't hold in the cold, get moldy on the screen materials, still allow small bugs and debris to enter, allow people to hear out side what you are saying or doing. The best design I have seen was a 2002 Casita brand all fiberglass trailer with a lowered built in air conditioning unit.

Nice design, but it doesn't have the airstream feel. Why? An airstream needs its windows to extend around the corners to provide this unique cinematic/panoramic landscape view when sitting at the dining table, best enjoyed with a nice window tint for privacy and enhanced colours. THAT is the Airstream feel, nothing else! An open tailgate alone will not do that, as it provides no intimacy. It would be a nice additional feature though, since it also would allow for easy bike or scooter transport.

People buy this crap planning run away from miserable life, but truth is this will mostly stay in a garage until time to sell it for 1/3 or 1/5 of the price paid. There are huge problems with camping far away, find flat place, toilet, wind,rain and more. Human body is not made for tiny space around. Not much better than to tent here and there, but much more costly. But I understand, porshe and others need sell some crap to the naive ones. And what about driving in reverse, especially in wild nature.
