Airstream Tour - Comparing 23ft vs 25ft vs 27ft Flying Cloud

We visited the local Denver Airstream dealership and checked out a few different Airstream travel trailer models. We were able to tour a few 2022 Airstream trailers, including a 23FBQ Flying Cloud, 25RBT Flying Cloud (older model), 27FBQ with Bunk Flying Cloud, and a 23FBT International. This was a very interesting tour in that we got to compare several Airstream trailers side by side, so we could easily see the differences among them. Like many of you, we were very interested in the bed configuration between the 25' and 27' Airstreams. We also got to compare the finishes on a Flying Cloud versus an International. Which Airstream travel trailer do you like best?

We love our International 23' FBT because it is sooo nice having a full bathroom instead of a split bath! Sometimes we leave the bathroom door open so we can see the view out of the window in the bathroom. The twin beds make the trailer seem longer even though it's only a 23'. It works for us and we are a family of 4 with a medium sized dog.

Ah yes, I did like that layout in the 23’. I just wish it wasn’t a corner bed. Each layout has its pros and cons. The 23’ is a nice layout 😁

We bought a 23FBT Globetrotter this year ( one of the last 23FBT in the Globetrotter). We really like the layout - having the twin beds makes for more space in the bedroom. Acts as another lounge area and a much easier space to navigate. Another plus is getting 3 outside storage areas.

We bought a 2023 Airstream International 23FB Twin with the optional solar package, convention / microwave oven and twin bed layout on August 12 and have already camped in twelve states. We immediately fell in love with the decor, the twin bed layout and the storage. We came out of a much larger toy hauler rig pulled by an F350. As a couple, we find this size to be very attractive and capable - it requires a smaller tow vehicle (F150), it’s welcome more places, its practical twin bed layout makes it feels longer, it has three large external locker, a deep 120VAC/12VDC refrigerator, is lithium battery ready, and feels light and airy.

We bought a 25 Foot Flying Cloud in 2020. After 2 years and taking 2 month long trips we decided we needed more room. We should have gone with the 30 footer when we bought, but we thought the 25 footer would be just fine. Only after traveling in it for longer periods of time we discovered we wanted the couch and extra space in the 30 Foot Classic. This is a very common problem when buying RVs. They say that you usually get the one you really want on the 3rd try. We pick up our new 2023 Classic in a couple of days. I would go with the longest one you can afford. You will be amazed at how the space shrinks once you are in them for a while. We don't need much space, but we did out grow the space in our 25 footer. Good luck with your search! Take your time figuring out what is best for yourself.

Thanks for the advice. As we look at them we are certainly drawn to the 27’ just to add a bit more room. Once we do make a decision, it will be a huge delta from our 16’ basecamp. Always nice to get more perspective.

Nice comparison! We have a 23' Flying Cloud with the corner bed and a bunk, this floorplan was discontinued for 2022. We had a 19' for 8 years before the 23'. I tow with a Jeep Grand Cherokee so I didn't want to go bigger than a 23'. It was a tough decision between our floorplan and the 23FB. I like the bed and bathroom better in the 23FB, but our 23' has the same dinette, lounge, kitchen layout as the 25' and 27'. I really like extra lounge area and all the windows. It also has the large pantry cabinet with the large sliding drawer like the 27'. The downside is the smaller bed and bathroom. It's always a compromise with the smaller trailers. I highly recommend the bunk option, it's so nice not to have to fold the table down every night for our kid, and it's a great storage space. If I were to upgrade to a larger Airstream, I'd go for the 27FBQ with a bunk, over the 25' for the extra storage and bedroom space. FC vs International is a tough decision, I like the look of the International interior a little better but it's more difficult to get things out of the overhead cabinets. It would be nice if they offered a bunk in the 23FB, that would be a nice option for those who don't want to tow with a large truck.

Thank you for the information. We haven’t really looked at 23’ because I’m set on having the hatch. We have the backdoor in the basecamp and I really like that feature. Yes, I agree there’s always a compromise. I would have never considered the bunk until the salesman pointed out you could use as extra storage space. I really like the 27’ but am trying to justify the extra space and weight. I like,too, like the upgrades of the International with the exception of the cabinets. Again, thanks for your input. It’s always nice to get someone else’s experience and perspective.

We are the ones who purchased the 23’ FC from Windish. We up graded from a 22’ Bambi. The additional foot made a huge difference for us and our 2 dogs. You can’t go wrong with any of the FCs. For us it came down to out tow vehicle and not wanting to move to a larger truck, so the 23’ was perfect!

Looking eher you had to open the doors under the beds for storage. Would've been much nicer to have roll out drawers, like in the kitchen, so you didn't have to get down on your hands and knees to get things.

Yes, I agree. I’ve seen people do a drawer conversion so it’s easier to access under the bed.

You might want to correct your English: 25 FEET not FOOT 27 FEET not FOOT etc You're referencing the plural of foot so you should be using FEET
