AirTag vs Tile: How to choose

Not covered in the video. The AirTag alerts the criminal who stole your property, that they are being tracked. The precision locator helps the criminal find and deafest the AirTags tracking. The speaker inside the AirTag can be removed to make it harder for the criminal to find the AirTag. There are a couple AirTag clones that use the Apple network to locate the clone AirTag, but lack the AirTag precision locator feature, which is a benefit, because it doesn’t help the criminal find the AirTag clone. I don’t know if the AirTag clone alerts the criminal that they are being tracked. The AirTag interferes with the Toyota, Lexus, and some other makes passive unlocking and push button starting because it interferes with the vehicle’s key fob. I don’t know if the AirTag clones alert the criminals that they are being tracked. The AirTag is a better option for tracking a stolen vehicle if you don’t experience interference with your key fob system. You can remove the AirTag speaker to make it more difficult for the criminal to locate and defeat the AirTag tracking. But the AirTag clones might be a better option, since it lacks the precision locator feature, making it more difficult for the criminal to 8:56 find the AirTag clone. I wonder if Tile will sue Tile owners who track their stole property on behalf of the criminals who stole the property!

Great video. I have both Tiles and AirTags. I've been using them both for years. For me, the most important feature is the Connectivity. AirTags are simply way better on that front. I've had my Tiles long enough for the batteries to die. I contacted Tile and they sent new ones. That experience was fine, but a hassle. I also felt a pang of guilt because I think the Tiles with dead batteries are likely just going into the garbage. I prefer just having batteries around.

How can you attach an air tag to a set of car keys? Do they have a version with a little hole in it?

Their are Tiles that has the option to easily change the battery had has longer range its called Tiles Pro

For me it is the vastly greater number of field detectors (smart phones) that might help you find your luggage or whatever. Tile just isn't anywhere close to iPhone in that arena.

I use both android and ios, I have always been a huge android advocate for open source development. However, if your use is to simply keep track of something, pet, keys, car, wallet...the airtag beats the tile into the ground network wise. There is almost 0 chance you will find an item you lost out in the public with a tile, the airtag gives you over 60% chance to relocate the item. Now if you are just looking for it inside or around your residence, you can use a tile and have zero issues. Something more active and constantly moving like a pet or a car the airtag is the only way to go. There is a reason for the entry price for each device.

I see the Samsung smart tag performing good in reviews and also apple air tag so I plan to get both of them to have in my car in case it gets stolen. I just need to find a way to prevent the potential thief of getting alerted that he / she is being tracked..

I had the Tile before AirTag came out, it was just okay, I didn't like that you have to upgrade to premium with a yearly fee to have it alert you when you are leaving your wallet behind etc., AirTag does that automatically, also I can buy batteries for the AirTag, where Tile has to send them to you, I really am tired of having to upgrade to get the full package when it comes for free with Apple.

I’ve been using tile for years. Very reliable and never any problem with not knowing where the tiled item is. And no annoying chirps on all my tiles when I’m away from home.

You also can't share an AirTag with 2 iPhones (or more specifically 2 x .Mac accounts). We wanted to track our escapee Husky, but found we needed 2 x AirTags for one dog and even then the updates were too infrequent (took dog for walk and 10mins later the AirTag still reported the dog as being at home). We ended up sending the AirTags and holders back.

Now you can. Just saw an update within macOS sonoma and now your able to share airtags with up to 5 people. That makes me happy cause i also use it for my cat and now my mom can track him too.

I need to get one of these trackers for my dog. I know they say these are not meant for pets, but it's just an extra security measure in the scary scenario my dog gets loose. The AirTag seems more collar friendly.

I think the way apple beats tile , is you rely on people having the tile app. I tested it , left my wallet with a tile in the train station carpark, in my car. It never showed up where it was all day Im sure there would have been 50 people with iphones walk past during the day Unfortunatly i dont run an apple phone so im not sure how to use the airtags
