@Nick73806 жыл бұрын
Your recruiter is a dumbass AND a dickhead because this is one of the single biggest issues I have with them recruiting new soldiers into this MOS, they assume anybody that scores high enough on that bullshit test with no mechanical knowledge or background can do it an sadly that is NOT the case. If you think AIT is going to prepare you for this MOS you are sadly mistaken, you have to want to do it and you have to want to learn it, plain and simple.

I can't speak for the curriculum now as its changed from when I went thru but I do know at the very least you will learn how to use the manual which is a very important critical skill but do not expect them to do your job for you some old school guys won't like me saying this but they know its true (Army TMs are not always correct) this is why its important to learn how to think outside the box an use your greatest asset (your brain) which they will not teach you in AIT. When you first get to your unit you will more than likely be put on the service line (if your leadership is smart) this is the best way IMO to learn the equipment an how it works an this is your opportunity to LEARN LEARN LEARN.

So im leaving Fort Sill to come to Ft Lee, I’m wondering if there are formations for chow and linen & all that stuff. Also when you come in as Phase 4, are you allowed to keep your phone secured in your room or are they strict dependent on what Company I’m with?
@darrellhunzinger55276 жыл бұрын
Generic Auto Vlogs Generic Auto Vlogs there is still a formation for chow, but linen there is not. You can do laundry whenever you want. And no the phases restart. And nope I’m pretty sure everyone can have their phones but you just can’t bring it to class or in the chow hall. So after classes everyday you can use your phone or laptop or tv and x box or whatever you want. After classes you’re on your time to do whatever. As long as you are back and ready and cleaned up for final formation/bed check

Yes technically you can however you will more than likely will have an automatics restriction on your CDL which could limit your hiring potential. I would suggest going thru an actual truck driving school to get a class A with all the endorsements as you'll learn how to double clutch, back, an handle a rig-the GI bill will pay for the school so you really have nothing to lose.

@debracallahan25736 жыл бұрын

@Nick73806 жыл бұрын
So I will offer some insight into this MOS for those of you who are either about to enter training or are thinking about picking this MOS, I have over 15 years into this job an I still do it as a civilian as a contractor an as a reservist so I will give you the honest gritty details. As like any other job in the Army you will either love it or hate it an that mainly depends on how much skill you bring in from the outside-if you have absolutely no mechanical inclination whatsoever, you will more than likely hate it because you are probably going to struggle. If you've turned wrenches before you will be better than most but don't let that go to your head-you are not working on your 82' Camaro you are working on some of those most expensive an complex systems an if you don't pay attention YOU WILL FUCK SHIT UP. The Army's idea with this MOS is that if you can read a manual you can fix anything in the Army, which I'm sorry to say is complete BS-because they expect your squad leader to hold your hand and teach you everything you need to know an sometimes that just won't work in your favor. The greatest skills you can learn in this MOS is to be a self sufficient soldier, taking your time, paying attention to detail, USING COMMON SENSE, and being a sponge for knowledge. If you are one of those guys that thinks he knows everything and doesn't want to listen to people YOU WILL FAIL AT THIS JOB. I could go into more detail but I won't-if anyone has anymore questions feel free to either comment here or just pm me.
@ISLA08146 жыл бұрын
Stephen Kapowski, I'm thinking about being a 91b. I did automotive in school. After i graduate high school I'll be off for BT. Is ait for 91b worth it to go through? Will you learn more things? And does it benefit you a lot for outside civilian jobs?
@Nick73806 жыл бұрын
Consider this Patrick, most Diesel Tech schools are anywhere from 18-24 months long, 91B training is 13 weeks, which do you think you're going to learn more in? 91B schooling will do nearly next to nothing for you on the outside unless you want to try an get a contracting job working on military vehicles but that will mainly depend more on your experience than your schooling. Most of the good money for this MOS is on the outside in contracting an DOD positions but you will definitely need to add as much as you can for schooling (military and civilian) while you're active to benefit from it.
