The story about the surrogate INFURIATED me. I think she should sue the friend as well. You conceived a child (not with my egg), and slept with my husband, but I’m immature because I want to cut ties ? Absolutely not the AH

I ABSOLUTELY agree!!!!! Not to MENTION all the Money OP put into in being the main breadwinner… if she went through to have her friend surrogate, where did the Thousands go? To her friend…. But for “their baby”. I’m Rageful for OP, as someone with little chance of hanging a natural pregnancy myself.

Yes def thank you Madi for asserting what was happening in the first story ! I understand in some cultures it is considered “traditional” for the woman to do the chores, but for this story it doesn’t sound like it’s a matter of tradition - it’s a matter of outdated views, and the man completely fooled the woman he married, and she was extremely wronged

The only thing I wish they talked about was how people can change from huge/impactful events in their life. Marriage, divorce, kids and etc. People change after those. Had she stayed and deal with the mess it would’ve turned to her cooking & cleaning only. Then childcare all on her shoulders. 10 years in & ppl ask why she didn’t leave? Because it was just “a mess” when it started.

My heart is breaking for the fractured arm story. I went to Reddit to see if there was an update and found a post from 3 months ago (two months after the fracture) that she's pregnant with twins with that man. They were still separated when she found out and he's pushing her to get married now. She was asking Reddit if men really change and relationships get better once children are involved. She needs far far away from him and now she's trapped it sounds like.

Concerning the surrogate story, what really disturbed me was that the ex-husband said he thought he and the "surrogate" couldn't get pregnant because he would always pull out. Does that mean that he's been cheating the entire time with multiple women using the bs pull out method? Also, was the ex-bestie single at the time cause it feels like she had feelings for the ex-husband and made the offer to be their surrogate in order to get with him? In the end they are both POS and OP has every right to fully cut ties with them.

Trampoline story: there is a HUGE difference between risky play and unsafe play. Kids hugely benefit from risky play, however as your parent it is your responsibility to make sure the risky play is still safe from severe bodily injury. Sure, kids get scratches and scrapes, kids fall, but broken limbs ≠ risky play.

I remember when my cousin 8 years old broke his leg on the trampoline at his house. My aunt made my uncle take him to the hospital and deal with the issue himself. This was in the mid 80's my aunt didn't want a trampoline in the yard as she was pregnant and wouldn't be able to watch her other 2 kids 4 and 6 properly. My uncle said it's not a big deal or something to that effect. Within 2 or 3 months of having it my cousin broke his leg. I remember my aunt had my other cousin Lily by then. So she wasn't in any condition to be dealing with her 8 year olds broken leg. I remember later at some point my dad complaining to my mom that her sister should have dealt with her son's injury. Apparently my uncle was complaining to my dad that he had to deal with a screaming kid at the hospital by himself. I remember my mom telling dad who was going to take care of a nursing newborn while his mom is gone for hours. I was 12 when all that happened. More injuries followed over the years. One time my uncle broke his wrist when he bounce off the side in 89. Even my little brother lost a tooth at 7 when my other cousin kicked him in the face while bouncing.

And a lot of abusers will do the whole "I'm so sorry" flowers thing but unless they go to get help, seek therapy, support groups, etc, then they just do it again. Poor OP, she is not overreacting. Fractured arm story: He already showed he wouldn't believe her in this scenario. What about the next time he goes out of control over some presumed wrong-doing? Why did he hurt you instead of trying to figure out the situation and decide if he should stay or leave? His jealousy makes him get physically violent? You can be doing nothing and he could get jealous over a man giving you attention.

Men have so much empathy & understanding for men. Don’t be fooled, no one owes you another chance… Even the marriage, why because the best apology tis changed behavior. Believe what people do, believe what people do. We cannot mitigate someone else’s boundaries; we cannot determine what is too much for someone else only respect it. For some filth around the home is mentally & physically too much. Men do not understand that marriage also means pulling all of your weight… And when a woman is seen as a utility rather than being valued holistically, often times that is the reason for divorce . Plainly.

The supposed friend surrogate story. My first question would be why in DAFUQ was she trying to have a baby by a man that doesn’t even work??? Second question, why would the surrogate need to spend time with the husband one on one ever if they were planning on doing the implantation medically??? The universe gave her all the sign that children were not in the cards for her and she pushed and pushed and was blinded to the point of not seeing that her husband was obviously getting it on with her “friend”. We know men ain’t sh/t so I’m not even gonna waste my time on him. Ladies, open your eyes and consider who you let impregnate you or in this case who you choose to be the father of your child. Pack it up and sue them both for emotional distress

Trying not to be long winded with this response… but it probably will be. 2nd story, shes not over reacting and shes also not being overbearing. I worked in a pediatric emergency room for a decade, operating room before that. While i dont personally know anybody whos had serious tramp injuries, i have witnessed 100s of mild to severe tramp injuries. She’s not coddling her children she asking for reasonable safety accommodations. It’s not a matter of never wanting them to get hurt, they will get hurt on a trampoline no matter what, it already happened. She’s trying to decrease the likelihood of a severe injury. It’s hard not to think beyond “just an injury” when you’re not a parent but the absolute overwhelming inconvenience of having to care for a kid with say a femur fracture is enough to just install the damn net lol. I could go on about that but I will stop there. The reason i dont think the question about breaking up is doing too much is because he’s gaslighting her, saying he never said what he said and completely ignoring her concerns. Those aren’t things that just get better when you ignore them. It’s also not evidence of person willing to compromise in their relationship (to the point of just talking about how you want to raise the kids). They’re boyfriend and girlfriend this isn’t a matter of ending a marriage before trying but glad it happened before deciding to marry.

The disrespect that is underneath his responses is kind of.. yikes. I only has to think of the video i saw on youtube by dr. Mike about "why doctors hate trampolines". You have falling off an getting bruises and bumps and you have breaking stuff levels of dangerous play. The first is probably needed, the later is not.

Fractured arm story: OP, I can't emphasize this enough. LEAVE! She sounds in pretty strong denial. She is already excusing controlling behavior because of childhood experiences. Those are valid but not to be used as a reason to control a partner. Also, I cannot think of one instance where shaking someone would end up in a broken/fractured arm. OP is probably having a trauma response to the incident & may be blocking out some stuff that happened. It's WILD that he got all riled up & the boots outside were HIS. He never calmed down enough to ask her what was happening & wait for a response. I wonder if she thought back on the relationship if she would see more red flags that she had ignored or excused. It's so rare for someone to be violent like this out of absolutely nowhere. Run, OP. Run.

There were red flags throughout our whole 8 years together but we were teenagers when we first started dating. We were about to hit 30 and I finally had the wake-up call, 1/4 life crisis, go realize I couldn’t live in filth and being the only one who cared about our living quality. They brought a little skateboard into the house so he could get on that and use his arms to get around. I can't remember how long he was in that basically full body cast but I know that when he got out he had to relearn how to walk and everything if I can help it my baby boy won't be getting on a trampoline. The husband using that excuse that he thought he was impotent and therefore could sleep with her friend is so frustrating. As someone with endo, it is incredibly devastating to hear how callous he was regarding her diagnosis. He knew she had a medical condition to prevent her for getting pregnant naturally. Wheter or not he got tested(which I highly doubt he did), he should have known how heartbreaking it would be for him to conceive naturally with another woman. It’s so disrespectful to her grief and pain over her own body not allowing her to do what she wanted. Also, shoutout KennieJD, her documentary review series is hilarious! P.S. He cheated without using protection! That’s even worse, what if someone has STD or something?

What he said was extremely harmful, abuse that is displayed in media is not over dramatized. Has he been an intimate basis with men and experience this harm to be able to say this. Like the lack of awareness and able to see nuance is so dangerous. This is my last lesson after this, that was just really irresponsible to say.

On the surrogate story, the parents are not the ones betrayed or the ones raising the child. As they’ve said in their mind it’s not any different than having an adopted grandchild, and since they’re likely already attached to the baby, it’s just easier if their daughter turns a doormat for their sake. If she doesn’t, either they lose their grandkid or they might lose their daughter if they keep in touch with the cheating duo. In short it’s selfishness.

Bruh. Allowing kids to experience riskier play is one thing. But nurses and doctors alike will tell you that trampolines are very dangerous. A lot don’t allow them for their own children. BUT if you want one, do get a net, supervise younger children, check its features regularly, put in a rule of only one person on it at a time and a rule of no twisting your body/somersaults. People who allow for injuries to build character are so fkn weird.

Man I almost broke my neck on a trampoline as a kid. I understand why she's worried.

On the story of the truck driver guy who broke OPs arm. I suspect she grew up in poverty and a “good man” is equal to financial security.

I mean they should give him the benefit of the doubt , I'd ask him if he's depressed or willing to get help before divorcing him. Then her going to her friend's house did she communicate before going that I just wonder. Because how do you go from cleaning up to allowing bugs & food water . Like that's gross

As someone who shattered the cartledge behind both my knee caps on a trampoline a net and covers won't save from double bouncing mishaps.. but makes it so much safer. We always had nets and covers still f*ck*d both my knees in less than 3 minutes one day. .. for my kids we got the net and springless cause it's the safest option ..things still happen though

Trampoline Story: I don’t thinks she’s overreacting. He’s shown he’s willing to lie, risk their children’s safety, steamroll OP, and gaslight in order to get his way.

Needing kids to experience consequences while playing doesn't mean that you should help or deliberately cause injuries. Just because kids need to learn doesn't mean that you should help harm to come to them. Wtf?
