You are supposed to “understand and support” him….yet he refuses to do the same for you? Thats not a healthy relationship

I can’t fathom why this is even a story. The original poster should simply explain to her husband that she had to leave him at home and go to the restaurant without him. She was supporting his need to stay at home to check the locks and stove.

I don't understand why you just don't leave the doors locked 24/7 After that you just lock the windows and check the stove and oven (if you have gas)

Two hours is plenty of time. Also doesn’t he care how important that dinner was for you?

What? Did he say underscore 40 times? I must have missed that bit 😂

Start with a checklist that he can mark as done so that he doesn’t have to go back to the stove or to the window or the door over and over again. KISS, the “keep it simple stupid” method.

Why should you wait for him no matter what? What about what is important to you? Not only does he have OCD, he’s selfish. It is hard to be the partner of someone with mental illness that refuses treatment.

I don’t mind AI narrators, please check and edit them before posting. Repetitively saying “underscore” turned this from a good video and story to a bad one. Just a couple minutes editing would have made this a great video.

I have OCD. Or I did have. Its not as easy as some of the commenters have said. Imagine a record an old fashion vinyl record that keeps skipping. That is your anterior cingulate. A little thing in your brain. You can't shut it off. I've been on Paxil for 25 yrs. I have gotten better by trying psilocybin cubensis or magic mushrooms. Micro dosing twice a week for a year improved me tremendously!!! I'm almost off Paxil and no brain zaps. People with OCD are trapped in their own mind and you can't just think happy thoughts and make it go away.

I'm glad you found the help you needed. Found out as an adult that I am... hm. Subject to picking up OCD behaviors. And fight hard to keep helpful ones sinking into unhelpful. Like bank facing all cash I handle, other than flipping the tenth bill from the bottom of the ones. As a cashier, that gives you a little cushion for ordering change. I've often found more valuable bills in with less valuable ones. Very useful. The less useful side is trying to bank face a busy till when you share it. Makes my eye twitch, but I have that one pinned down. Although... I have heard my managers always enjoy counting down my tills, since they are organized.... and accurate. Days of handling $2,000-$8,000, and not being off by more than 10 cents is a reputation I take pride in. Being able, with great effort, to not organize the drawer of someone I'm giving a break to? Also proud of that. New money going in was still organized, but that's different. Really! 😂
