Do the same thing as OP did and be completely unapologetic about it.

I'm so sorry, OP. Your father failed you as a parent. You owe him NOTHING. You had every right to feel the way you do. Your father can't just come back into your life whenever it's convenient. He made his bed, let him sleep in it. Your GF is the A*hole for telling you differently! That's a red flag on her part.

but can't blame the gf, she told him to be understanding for a his "father" who is grieving for his "daughter", she didnt told him to make amends. the dad, stepmom, stepsister were the major A*holes.

Wrong person to find sympathy. I understand how OP feels.

Can't blame the son, he doesn't have a great relationship with his dad nor his stepsister.

NTA. Your father is acting like now that the golden child is dead, they have a vacancy and all will be forgotten if you just pretend nothing ever happened and come home.

Story 1 NTA you aren't a conciliation prize.....dad lost you years ago and now that he has lost his golden child he doesn't get to play take backs....I'd tell the GF that you don't owe your father any sympathy because he is the one that tossed you away and just because his golden child died does not change anything ....that man stopped being my father when he tossed me away and his golden child was never my family so I owe them NOTHING including my sympathy.

All of the traumatic things that happens to a child and really mess up thier emotional and mental state. What the father did is not okay and treated someone elses child better than his own which could leave the child with feelings that would take a long time to recover from. Children not feelin loved by ther own families and getting types of emotional issues. Disattachment to a parent/caretaker is mostly affective towards abused and foster children.

OP’s father only contacted him after he loses the golden child, that’s actually only mean and selfish of him because he terribly failed as a father to OP, so OP is not the asshole here, he did the right thing, and actually his pathetic parents and that spoilt child teena met the karma here

Justified AH. This is AH in a great way though, not negative! While it's not nice to gloat about a death (only reason why AH is due to someone dying), honestly being an AH here is perfectly justified and I'd do the same. Being an AH will give your dad a reality check on how much of a bully Dianna was and how he failed you in favour of Tina and her spawn. I'd tell your dad only way he'll get you back is to divorce Tina regardless of the fact she's lost her child. Often cases like this are due to the fact a parent wants their bio child favoured. Dianna is an evil b. Your dad failed you probably to please Tina by favouring HER daughter. Honestly I would rub it in theie faces and continue to be a heartless AH to them. It's what they deserve.

Wrong person, wrong moment. I wanna point out the GF hanging up, if she did just that, then shes a good GF, she understood your frustation, but didnt let u go all balistic on smn mourning. While I cheer u not wanting anything to do with your dad, I suggest going to therapy, cuz sounds u havent gotten over it.

Inappropriate time to express those feelings to a grieiving dad. The dad was looking to the wrong person to mourn with.

@@l0rdapophis He was already 0 contact. His Dad was terrible yes, I can't agree with any of that. From personal experience, I had a aunt who was horrible (taught her kids to hate my family, told my siblings she would be the sh*t out of us etc. Etc.) When she died, and my uncle reached out. We did not express all of our grievances with his late wife & his family at that time. The dad here should not have reached out, he wanted to mend a broken relationship out of grief. And Op I think shouldn't have called his dad. He should have let it be.
