I meant their relationship was already mediocre at best and then after their miscarriage the dude locked himself away to the point where he didn't even realize what was going on in his house. Nothing she did was rational but I can definitely see the guy stepping out on her sooner or later because it's obvious he didn't actually want her as anything other than an affair partner. And it probably wasn't hard for her to see that too considering she already knows he'll cheat on his spouse regardless of whether they have a kid together or not. And she sees the OP and her kid as competition because the OPs the one he originally chose to be with without an affair baby held over his head.

Story 1 update: For the most part, I agree with keeping the son away from the daughter. I’m worried, though, that if Dad gets 50/50 or less with the boy the narrative will be “that spoiled princess and her jealous B mom wrecked our family because she can’t take a joke.” He needs primary custody of the boy or we can write him off now. But that may cost him his daughter.

I totally agree that M was threatened/insecure/jealous of OP. She couldn't take it out on OP, but she could take it out on the "next best thing", the daughter. When the daughter told OP the things she did with her father, such as play and help with homework......it sounded like a rarity. If it was, when he worked at home, he probably knew of the problem a long time ago but chose to not stand up for his daughter. Better late than never.

I guess she miscarried a daughter. Because she babytrapped daddy with a babyboy she tried to convince daddy that boys are more fun than Girls. So he would not blame her for loosing the daughter. This is a problem for everyone that babytrap someone and than miscarry. M needs grieve counseling and the brother needs therapy to learn how to containers emotions. I say this because the bullying started after the miscarriage. Dads often work more after miscarriaged it destract them from the emotions they have. So M got the feeling he was drawn away from her. Op made a wise decision to take away her daughter out of this mess.

#1 Very simple, the child does not want the woman around her, so she's out. The reason is unimportant immediately, and may be sorted through as she is able to communicate her feelings. Adults have a difficult time sorting feelings, so children will as well. Forcing children to interact with people they are uncomfortable with is a terrible idea. They rely on adults for safety, and comfort. If mum, or dad, dismiss her concerns, why would she assume they will be a safe place if another adult is being inappropriate? She can have visits with dad, which do not include his family, if she wants, once things are clearer. Step mum is not entitled to be liked, nor included, at the expense of the child's emotional safety.

Wait. Last update, very last comments made by OP... If her daughter is with her at THANKSGIVING, then she would be with the ex husband on Christmas, or vice versa. Did no one else catch that? OP said just before that: she is French. All of this transpired in France where they live, M is French. Unless they all up and moved to America after the divorce, which was never mentioned, then they are still in France. They don't have Thanksgiving in France, that is an American holiday. So OP just gave herself away as likely faking the post saga because most French people haven't a clue about the meaning of Thanksgiving to Americans (and vice versa on French holidays for Americans).

As in, they don't celebrate it but she wanted to explain their custody agreement by saying that if Daughter spend one holiday at her dad's, she would spend a different one with her mom and vice versa. I have trust in the half brother. He is six and dad ia going for full custody. If he can proof that his ex isnt capable of caring for the boy, he'll get it and hopefully will put the kid in a behavioural class or therapy. 6 is young enough to unlearn that kind of behaviour. And if dad lives up to his word of demanding M goes to therapy and he puts hia son in therapy, they boy will be fine and grow into a good member of society ❤
