That first story really shows why the term "red flag" exists, it's not that the one thing is a deal breaker, it's that it's a foreboding sign that the person doesn't respect you and has the potential to be abusive, which he definitely was. Thank god she got out when she did
@rachel5399
@rachel5399 11 ай бұрын
Right! Relationships are all about communication, respect, and sacrifices, big & small. He obviously cannot cannot communicate. He obviously does not respect her, and he cannot sacrifice an hour and half of his day off where he's not doing anything anyways? Instead of giving the same courteousy to her, and even just focusing on the positives on the situation(just being with your person in the first place, having a day off together), he disregards her emotions over this small issue. Imagine a bigger, more severe issue. Good lord. The insecurity of that man is excruciatingly painful to read about. That type of person never changes, either.

Completely agree. To me it's not really about the movie, but rather that she's told him several times that his behaviour is hurtful and he still continues doing it. What's even the point of taking turns to pick the entertainment if he's going to spend the entire time bitching about it, there's no clearer way he could communicate that he doesn't actually care about her getting her pick or enjoying what she picked. Also, people who hurt you and then act mopey when you get upset, as if you were the one hurting them by reacting, never change. They will take any opportunity to hurt you and then act like the victim and it's abusive.

Exactly. You as a parent got to choose every decision you made that led to having a child. Your other child had no real valid say in you choosing to have more kids. It should be your responsibility as a parent to do all of the parenting. Your kid didn't ask for that adult burden.

as a former youngest child who used to be a literal demon towards my older brother, I COMPLETELY understand the older brother’s perspective. I would NOT let my six year old self into a room full of equipment either.
@onettaviator5396
@onettaviator5396 11 ай бұрын
I'm the youngest and I mean, I was well-behaved? But it doesn't really matter in this situation-- mom's wrong no matter what. I didn't really throw fits past the age of 4 and I was never the type to play with and break stuff? But my brothers are musicians; so are their friends. And they still politely kicked me out the room when they needed to record stuff, and even I was like, "Okay, I get it, bye-bye!" at my age. Because they were doing something important in THEIR rooms; not mine. The fact that the **mother** thinks otherwise is SUPER alarming.
@xd1shr33
@xd1shr33 11 ай бұрын
@@onettaviator5396 omg yes, I definitely agree with you. Children act differently from one another and if I was a trainwreck and you weren’t, whose to say that his sibling wasn’t well behaved as well. And honestly the six year old didn’t seem to care all that much, it was definitely the mother who was taking everything out of proportion.
@ginathecookie
@ginathecookie 10 ай бұрын
Same. And I had higher needs as a kid too. I didn't really throw trantrums regularly, more at home when I was overstimulated and more crying fits than true angry demanding trantrums. Even with that, I would have been careful letting any kid under the age of 9 or 10 from being left alone with fancy equipment. Even then, only a well behaved 9 or 10 year old (not well behaved as in obeys, I mean as in is respectful of other's properties) and above. Kids take time to develop mentally, some develop slower and that's okay. What isn't okay is letting them be in an unsafe (for them and the equipment both) room. Ever.

Hearing the mom's AITA post gave me PTSD remembering my own. These people just have no control over their lives and their coping mechanism is to stomp on their kid's joy whenever they feel like lashing out in anger, and not allow themselves to be held accountable (usually with excuses like "motherhood is dificult" or "I do so much as a parent, I deserve to be allowed to make mistakes"). The kind of parent that you basically allow to abuse you emotionally one way or another. Defending yourself or standing up to them is "disrespectful/selfish behavior" and so is not laughing at their jokes when they're in a good mood. Therapists just "don't understand when I'm comming from" and in the end will always play the role of a victim. I've been to the point where I've attempted soy-side and was hospitalized, and when I walked out of the hospital with meds and a psychiatrist, I was shamed for taking pills cause with them in my system and the knowledge that my parents are the reason I take them, I wasn't reacting to their BS and instead just agreed with them to their face and lived my own life when they weren't in the room. Not everyone should be parents 🙄

Also on the topic of animations, no live action film has ever made me feel all the emotions that a Studio Ghibli film has given me. If I want to see true magic and creativity I will watch a Ghibli 💚

I do the guessing thing, too! As a writer myself I think it's fun to think of the ways a story could end or how I would end it. But if someone has expressed that they don't like that or that they don't want me to do it, I'll keep it to myself. Hell I even guess the twist of movies that I've never even seen. My mom came back from the theater one night after watching a horror movie (not my favorite genre. I prefer psychological thrillers for my spooks lol!) and started telling me what the movie she watched was about and how good it was. I said "Let me guess, they're actually [insert twist here]" and she just went wide eyed and goes "how the hell did you know that?" I didn't guess the twist dead on, but I got it pretty close. And that was from just a description of the premise lol! I take pride in my ability to guess twists and I think it's a fun little party trick to shock people I'm watching with, but I would never say anything unless they said it was ok. Especially not if they specifically asked me not to.

i watched the barbie movie with my boyfriend. he kept making jokes saying he was literally ryan gosling and sang to I'm just Ken the way i sing dramatically to toxic relationship songs even though he's literally an angel and it's just for the sake of being dramatic. He acted the exact way I expected him to act. When the sexual harassment scene happened, he held my hand tighter because I had recently gone through something like that. He did some ironic "women" jokes every time something so obviously messed up was shown, like the beauty standards and stuff and he used it as an argument to get me to eat properly (i struggle a bit with ed). pick y'all's men, girlies. He should not be getting offended by the Barbie movie. He should laugh and find it goofy and understand when a certain scene might be triggering for you.

omg that first one... i relate so much! i had a relationship that lasted over a year with a guy who always ran right over my boundaries, and i kept at it thinking i could maybe make him be empathic one day. thankfully i learned my lesson and hopped off the boat before it sank!

17:24 yeah I think the Reddit poster mentioning having issues picking up on social cues (at 15:51) makes A LOT of sense, my brother is always guessing the plot of movies while we watch and it only bothers me when I try to show him a movie I’ve seen already and just want him to be along for the ride 😂

To the first person: YES! Amazing!! I left my first really serious bf too about a month ago for a lot of the same things. They really just want to control you and I brushed it aside because I loved him. Love makes you blind and I didn’t acknowledge that he was obsessive and disrespectful and overall, being scared of him. They may not physically hurt you but they do emotionally hurt you. Total props to that person for doing it because it takes a lot of strength to let go. I also had small moments like the movie thing, it’s disrespectful but not enough to make it into a big deal. But when you finally see it, you realise what you’ve been allowing yourself to go through. I hope they find the one because everyone deserves happiness 🤍

This was a refreshingly chill/fun video; I liked it! In terms of reviewing/reaction content, I feel like you'd really love "Marcel the Shell with Shoes On" and it's even an A24 film, so I think it'd be in the clear to use as content. "Talk to Me" I think recently just came out on digital too and is supposed to be another fantastic A24 film, horror though.

not sure if you’ve seen this already, but a great show you would definitely love is “Yellowjackets” (after the strike ofc) in 1996 a girls soccer team survives a plane crash in the wilderness, while the show shows them surviving in the wilderness, it also shows the surviving girls adult life in 2021, it is scary, and also has some mystery!

I have such a strong feeling that we'd get along well if we met in real life (sorry if that sounds weird), but we do live in different continents. Still, your videos always make me feel like I'm hanging out with that kind of cool person you'd like to get to know better but only see in very specific events from time to time (it's a good feeling tho). I also love that you're standing by the actors and writers on strike, it may seem like bare minimum or something but it's actually very noble, and I think I speak for everyone (or a solid majority) when I say we don't mind the change in content at all, we just like hanging out with you ^^
