Since you technically know…. isshin was alr a soul reaper but lost his powers before ichigo was born… he just now regained them with the help of urahara… so he did not just become one, he alr was one but lost his powers 20 years ago( 3 years before ichigo was born)

He would've been, if idiots hadn't told him to skip the Bount arc. It's fine to skip if you've already seen the show once, but on your first watch there is important plot and character development in that arc that carries over to the Arrancar arc.

This is why you don't skip the so-called "filler arcs" the first time you watch the show. Plot and character developments carry over to the main storyline - if you'd seen the Bount Arc before this episode, you'd have known how Ichigo was struggling with his hollow self (and been introduced to the 3 mod souls that just seemed to show up out of nowhere in this arc).

@@NeelDesai And if nobody had ever told you that the bount arc was "filler", I wonder if you'd have noticed anything off about it - people think the "filler arcs" are filler because people tell them they are filler. It's a self-fulfulling prophecy. I count my blessings I watched the entirety of the show without any contact with the fanbase, so I could at least enjoy every episode for the first time, without being told I was supposed to hate some of them.
