My son was right behind the White Sox visitors dugout where they come out to the batters box when they were in St. Pete playing the Rays. AJ was just looking around at the crowd with a smug look on his face. For some reason my son tells AJ his mom isn't coming to the game. He said AJ looked like he was going to hit him with his bat.

@@chickenfkeryayI wouldn’t call him a douche but he was on the club level for a fan event thing and was taking a few selfies with some people. I swooped in and asked for a quick selfie, while he agreed and gave a good smile, he definitely gave a little attitude and rolled his eyes a bit. My 10 second impression, for what that’s worth, is that he will smile for a camera but doesn’t like taking the time to humor fans. Please take my impression with a grain of salt.

Uh Bonds played 147 games, the most of anyone that season for the Giants so I don’t think the manager was truly concerned that Barry wasn’t going to show up and he also knew that if anyone deserves some leeway it would be the 39 year old still leading the team in runs, hrs, and batting average.

@mikesnow Hank Aaron took greenies …. I don’t hear the same amount of hate for hank. Players in his take took amphetamines, players in bonds day took juice. Answer me this: What’s more valuable? Being able to slow time down and have hyper reflexes that give you a way better shot to make contact? Or hitting a ball harder? The object is to hit the ball, juice doesn’t help your hand eye coordination. Bonds had better hand eye than hank without amphetamines. Game set match, you are done now son, have a seat, grab some pine to go along with your wine.

Dozens and dozens maybe hundreds and no other 70 home run hitters? Seems you know nothing about steroids. Line three guys up and give them all 250mg of test and you will get three different results. Every . Single. Time. Why doesn’t everyone put exactly 50 pounds on their bench when they do a cycle? Fact is someone puts 20 on someone puts 100 on the bench. Ted Williams, Tony Gwynn, and Barry Bonds were probably the three greatest hitters to ever play the game and I had the privilege to watch two of them throughout their magnificent careers. Barry Bonds was undoubtedly a Hall of Fame player prior to ever taking a single steroid, but his legacy will now forever be tainted in my eyes. Sure it gave him a couple of more years and the home run records, but was it worth it? Only Barry could truly answer that question and I am not sure if he even knows himself.

That's what everyone who hates on him doesn't get. Only Nolan Ryan and Pedro even have a shot to come out ahead. They feared his eye at the plate , pitch selection, and ability to make contact. His power was secondary to all of those things

While I think bonds is better, the pitching wasn't that much better for Barry. Also , Barry was allowed to wear body armor like he was a juggernaut in call of duty. In the 60s and 70s he'd have been blasted back into the dugout trying to crowd the plate the way he did . He wouldn't have been able to hug the plate and therefore wouldn't have had as much success at the plate. There's no arguing that either. That said, I still find him to be the best hitter of all time. Ted Williams and baby Ruth are only other candidates in my opinion. Everyone plays within their own Era and they can't be compared fairly. So based on dominance , those 3 are the clear cut best hitters of all time. I don't think Aaron makes the convo. Mays gehrig, and a few others rank as better hitters than Aaron for me. But he's still an elite hitter and no less than 10th best batter of all time. None of the top 25 hitters in mlb history should be diminished or slighted. They were all elite and no doubt hall of gamers.

It's always the people who think bonds hitting hr is all due to steroids. Bonds elevated his fly ball rate around 2000 , and also lowered his ground ball rate. Significantly in both categories. Do you not believe in physics? Ground balls don't turn into fly balls , and certainly not homeruns from steroids. His change in hitting style and philosophy coincides with his alleged steroid use . But the truth is , without steroids, the only difference in his career numbers is he has more doubles and less homeruns. And even that is just purist wishful hopium. Almost all of his hrs after 2000 were hrs for anyone with such good contact swinging the bat, except ichiro
