ABOUT SPEAKER
Ajahn Brahm is the popular Buddhist teacher to a growing international audience of people keen to learn meditation and develop a deeper spiritual understanding. He is also the founding father of an emergent Australian forest tradition of Buddhist monasticism focused on being true to the original roots of the Buddha's Teaching of Dhamma and Vinaya.
BUDDHIST CENTRE
While registered as a Buddhist not-for-profit association, Buddhist Society of Victoria (BSV) welcome members of all backgrounds and religions.
Located in Melbourne, our East Malvern centre hosts programs that guide members on meditation; as well as practical Buddhist teachings for kids, teenagers, and adults.
Our spiritual advisor is Ajahn Brahm, the Abbot of Bodhinyana Monastery located in Western Australia.

FOREST MONASTERY
Newbury Buddhist Monastery (NBM) is just 70 minutes from the heart of Melbourne city. The magnificent landscape and tranquil surroundings offer an inspiring backdrop for seclusion and meditation.
NBM is unique in that it is only one of a very few monasteries in the world and the very first in Victoria that support both Bhikkhu and Bhikkhuni ordination and practice. This supports the cultivation of Buddhist teachers who in return, share Dhamma teachings across the world.

So true. My step sons learned how to meditate by watching me. I would bond with them by doing Yoga together and they loved the challenges of the challenging poses. I remember one lovely evening after doing Yoga me and one of my son's sat in meditation pose for a while...Suddenly he said during meditation in the most calm tone...I love this evening. I was so happy. I also noticed they did not start smoking or doing drugs... i feel so glad that these lovely teachings are the best way to raise healthy young Men... Thank you.

This is so timely. Thank you for addressing this pattern many of us, including myself, have. You are such a joy to hear and see. Sometimes I smile to myself because I feel you are my teacher whom i shall never meet in this life and you are the same age as my youngest sister. I love greatly and I accept we are different flowers from the same parental garden. I am so blessed to see myself as a lay Buddhist in the Theravada tradition. Sadhu. Sadhu. Sadhu. 🙏🙏🙏

Always great teaching, I am a Christian, but God put Ajahn Brahm's talk on my radar, when I was recovering from drug addiction. Long story short, his way of teaching brought me a peace Christian doctrine couldn't. So, I say God Bless you Ajahn Brahm, and BSWA! Turtle Sage out!!

Oh how I giggled when the mic was finally fitted .... :) On thwarted travel - when the Icelandic volcano erupted back in 2010 and many European Airports were forced to close due to the massive smoke plume that was covering large swathes of Northern Europe, I hopped on a train from Duesseldorf to Brussels and then grabbed the next Eurostar back to London. European trains being what they are, I pretty much got back in around the same journey time as it would have taken to fly and enjoyed a glass of wine and a snack while we travelled smoothly along. However, one fellow traveller in the Eurostar spent the entire European leg of the journey screaming indignantly at someone at the British Airways desk for cancelling his flight. "Do you know how many flights our company books..?! This is outrageous..." etc etc.. The humour was not lost of those of us sitting quietly heading home. He was in the corridor and each time the sliding door opened, we could hear snippets of the continuing torrent of abuse he was doling out. And then, we entered the tunnel, the phone signal was gone, and all was well... he could scream no more, but had to come back through the carriage to get to his seat while everyone stared at him in amused disbelief.

37:50 secs, But Sir Ajahn Brahm, there is a way to know the symmetry breaking before a kosmos is made, as well as all the wheres and whens, it has to do with how one deals with the many flavors of complexity, or apprent ordered chaos, or even chaos. there is a pattern that underlies it all, Mr brahm, please I would like to give you my mind module concerning this issue. Yes the first proto planets and the organusm to evolve on them is already known, and yes there are other kosmoses. Thank you for posting, hopefully someday I can come to visit you, I only have around 10-40$ a month. I currently have a roomate who is looking at what Ive written, he knows as well now. In truth the whole peninsula, as well as probably the world now knows this, its how the highest works, or an aspect of the highest, when I say the highest I am referring to infinite accuracy and precision, like taking a dice a handfull and telling all the rolls before you do it, or cards, book word matching to thought etc. Its very fun, but It has been horribly and still is horribly mishandled.

Hello Ahjahn, thank you for this moment. For me it was a wonderful mix of giddiness and wisdom that struck me more than I was willing to allow(does that make any sense?). Especialy; the kindness part to yourself the past and everything. Very "simple" yet overlooked by me on many(most) occasions. What still puzzles me is: so; not beeing perfect is actually real and therefore perfect...? Also; you say at the end that the mind itself has to be cast aside to trancend. Yet isn't the mind, not the brain/self-mind, the trancended state? FYI: I am sure I am not sure that I understand what you just taught me. But somewhere my "mind" tells me that the certainty of some of it is exactly what is wrong with .. everything I am trying to comprehend. Except the kindness part. Also, there's a lot of I's in my question.. that makes me question myself.. I am very impressed by this video, apologies if that was not intended =)

Crux of the talk - 37:00 43:00 - the emperor's three questions (the only time is now, the most important person right In front of you or yourself, the most important thing is to care, how you relate to others and to yourself) Care for this moment (the present moment, and what you are experiencing right now) in meditation. Caring for the moment - energy starts to increase, the five hindrances weakens. LET IT BE - compassion and kindness. The moment grows, blossoms and becomes an amazing experience. It stays in it because you are enjoying it. Stops this mind from making up stories - the truth is more blissful, of stillness and peace. Make peace, be kind, be gentle - stops the five hindrances. The five hindrances perverts the cognitive process.
