Really loved the performance. Back to front, on and off the ball, excellent. We had a clear shape, threat on set-pieces and we were so dominant that Palace fans just groaned all the time because they couldn't get hold of the ball at all. Today's game (apart from the finishing) should be the base, or benchmark as to how our performance should look against most of the teams. Dominant on and off the ball, patient and steady possession but increase the speed and be decisive during transitions. Amad, Zirkzee, Antony (also Sancho if he was there) are one side, and Rashford, Hojlund, Garnacho, Bruno are the other side. Our front 4 should be a mix of these 2 groups. One side thrives better when people are in around and the other are too direct. Garna, Amad, Zirkzee is so balanced in nature, In the last 25 mins, we had our front 4 all from the other style of players, all 4 are too direct, our central progression stopped (Eriksen was also subbed out) and Glasner clearly shut down the midfield space. We are top in xG created, need to score and put emphasis on taking the lead. I believe we are 2-3 times the better team with the lead.

We should have ended the game with zirkzee, rashrod and Rasmus all on the pitch. Taking off zirkzee and eriksen killed our creativity. The team look good, off the ball we are not conceding too many shots and our midfield doesn't has as much space to run into like last season, we are creating chances. What is really exciting to see is we can adapt to different styles because of the squad depth and different profile of players it's a good headache for eth. This season rests alot on our wingers scoring playing along side zirkzee would create lots of spaces for them. Onlast thing onana slandering and banter will not be tolerated anymore

Same thoughts. It's not that ETH made bad subs but he preferred getting mins in for Højlund and Ugarte over the actual tactical need. Rashford, Højlund, Garna, Bruno front 4 makes no sense when we are trying to beat a low block, it just doesn't.

@@Aarya-v5n EtH did make bad subs, for the very reason you set out! EtH is flaky: sometimes he gets it right almost by accident, and other times he gets it horribly wrong. e.g. EtH claims to care about player development and player care. But, in practice, 1) he has played Mazraoui (a very good player) every match w/o rotation. 2) With Rashford, a player whose confidence was evidently returning, EtH chose to bench him for Palace while badmouthing Rashford to the press, for no apparent reason other than he could. 3) Ugarte has been started very slowly - we know EtH did not want Ugarte, who is an Ineos choice. With the Palace front three, Ugarte should have been an automatic selection 4) EtH found no playing time for Wheatley against National League Barnsley and dropped Collyer against Palace. 5) the club captain did not have a good game against Palace and should have made way, yet he was retained on the pitch while the effective 10, Zirkzee, was benched for Rashford.

​@@Bloodnok49 you don't know that ETH didn't want Ugarte you just heard ridiculous rumours and believed it the only thing true in all those rumours was that ETH didn't want to lose Scott but ffp had to prevail Ugarte has been a top targe for United since the window began and the plan was for Casemiro and Erikson to leave but Scott was the one that happened. In terms of our playing i think what we need to do is keep building the chemistry and fitness of the team the drop in intensity and craativity after the subs was because the style had to change and it happened too slowly and with players who need to build fitness and chemistry with the likes of Ugarte in the middle plus Fatigue set in in the second half. ETH will get better as the season progresses and so will the team and Ugarte will have to improve his ball playing too and that comes with confidence.

The team looks more stable and productive when Eriksen is our 10. Rashford and Fernandes lack of ball progression is currently halting the progress of the squad. The less we turn the ball over the better we look as a unit.

I could see that we controlled the game more but once again we are only good for 20-60 minutes. It makes me laugh when we beat bottom to mid table dross and the tactical youtube tub thumping begins. Palace sat back, that's what made us look good. I think Ten Hag is a fraud and we will be below 6th at Christmas and beyond, with people talking about injuries, needing time and all the other excuses. The killer moment for us really was taking off Zirkzee, Amad and Eriksen. If you want our attack to have the same fluidity it had in that first half, you need to keep atleast one of them on. I would be intruiged to see zirkzee as a n10, amad on the right, hojlund up top and rashford on the left. Garnacho is great but his impact off the bench is much greater than when he starts

Ten Hag's changes will be criticised, removed many technical players, but I felt they did physically drop off and slowed down, that's just where the squad is, not enough technical players who also have a decent engine yet, or like Eriksen, an engine left.

It's one of those situations. We can't criticise TH for wanting to make subs, but we only have one Zirkzee, so it's either you play him for 90 minutes and risk him getting injured, or you sub him off and take the criticism but at least you have a fit Zirkzee for the next game.

@@Yash-re3wi yes, and also, the responsibility is on all squad members to step up the game, Rashford, Hojlund, and Garna are direct players, but need to learn how to deal with tight blocks, Bruno had a bad game, but i have also seen him being shuffled around in 3-4 different ways to play in just the last month, instead of having one approach to build on since we moved away from 4-2-4. The squad has a combination of players that's a conundrum, I'd say beware, yes Eriksen worked right now, but because rest of the midfielders filled in the structure to give him license to roam into space, but he might look really bad against a team that'll be more aggressive than Palace, Palace never pressed aggressively, so completely dissing on Bruno wouldn't help, he'll be better in many situations where Eriksen would get run over, in a way we need improvement in players who can be good against both situations. We don't have ideal squad, but this approach was fine.

The subs killed off all intensity and probing. Had they taken the chances in the first half, 5 big ones at that, the complexion of the game changes overall. The mere fact they failed to score off those, always meant the match would be stretched as it progressed and it showed. Coupled with that the subs totally killed all momentum. Good thing he didn’t sub off any defenders, that would have lost us the match and killed any momentum and chemistry that’s being built. Overall a very positive performance albeit without coming away with a win. Winning would have created a buzz and boost United going forward.. ❤❤❤ United Forever

Ten Hag is keen to give Hoyland and Ugarte minutes to get them match fit as soon as possible which is understandable and we weren’t looking particularly dangerous at the point he started making changes. . The big mistake was taking Zirkzee off particularly given how jaded Bruno looks. I think there is a strong case for resting Bruno and playing both Zirkzee and Hoyland at least in the Europa League. We will be harder to beat this season but scoring enough goals remains our biggest problem.

The myth about having physical players in the number 6 and 8 role has been demystified. Where did Ericson suddenly get the legs to play against a physical crystal palace midfield? . Ericson and Mainoo ran the midfield. you need technical players who can keep the ball and play the right passes and keep their shape while anticipating danger this is why Bernardo silver and ikay gundegon can play 6 and 8. We need somebody with the attributes of Ericson and some physicality to control games. But we have gone to sign Ugarte who is totally different profile from Ericson this is a serious problem, Ugarte is a good player but the profile is confusing. Bruno is not a technical player, yes he scores goals and assists but once you play possession based football he is exposed. He does not have the technicality to be patient and do the basic things to recycle possession. Haaland is not wasteful on the ball for City and mind you he affects the game without touching the ball with his movements. Ericson is a better 10 to Bruno we all know this. Bruno thrived under ole because it was counter football and he is a transition player if you noticed we struggle in games that we appear to be the superior team because we have the possession Bruno can't be patient or composed to play the simple passes, he prefers Hollywood passes. Bruno can't play 8 or deeper because he doesn't look after the ball that will mean more and more problems. He is needed but he should be played based on the tactics of peculiar games. Zirkzee, Amad and Ericson are highly technical and the manager chose to sub them. ETH has a way of messing things up. Must the fans be the ones to do his job for him and point out the obvious!. He will lose this job because he has refused to do easy stuff. We really improved on our play but all those positives cant be spoken about because ETH is making basic mistakes and frustrating the fans. Bruno is a good player it's just the tactics. If you play Zirkzee and Rasmos any defence will be terrified by them. take note Zirkzee is not a purple patch that is how he always plays he is suited for possession based football. If you remember when Ericson played in the 1st season under ETH, we played better because he orchestrates certain things even now he is the main one operating properly to allow the game flow so why did we have to sign Ugarte? That profile that only Ericson plays should be the profile we should have signed!

to be successful in this day and age u must be a good possession team. man utd can't be a good possession team with bruno on the field. 4 years ago he was class because we didn't play possession football. times have changed he is completely useless now. the only thing bruno has is chances created which is just deceiving. chance created is a thing once a player shoots a ball. bruno can tap the ball 5 feet to another player and if they take a shot it's a chance created for bruno. rubbish player.

5:15 Very interesting from Dalot that. Eriksen is such a clever footballer. Can't help but think Man United should have a got a younger Eriksen/Kroos rather than an Ugarte. Rashford, Zirkzee and Hojlund should have all been on the pitch if looking for a goal. Get all your strikers on. Thought Bruno had a stinker though. Bruno and Garnacho should have come off for Rashford and Hojlund. There were positive signs from United against Palace. Only thing missing was a goal.

Even if you apply my argument to this season, you have to completely ignore the fact that Palace also had clear cut chances to win the game, so where does their "deserve" come into it? Every game we have played this season has been a mild improvement on last year but not to the point of "deserving" more than we have got.

@JohnDoe-qm8ns Fulham "deserved" a draw, Brighton "deserved" to win, Liverpool " deserved" to win even if Zirkzee scored his chances, Southampton "deserved" to go one nil up thus changing the probable outcome and Palace deserved to win or draw. For our 5 clear cut chances compared to Palace, theirs were easier to score so their fans would argue that they "deserved" to win. It could be argued we "deserve" as low as one point.although that is a bit harsh.

You can try and distill our issues down to individual moments but the truth is, the manager is the one who ultimately sets the tactics, culture and picks the players to carry out his instructions. No club would ever need to change manager if your argument held up.
