Ruben A. has a good setup but it needs to be well manage by the players. You can see the first goal MU score against NF. Seated in my sofa I saw the opportunity for that play so many times but the players only did it once, and it went well. And they could do the same thing over and over again because the pieces was there, some times Bruno tried to come to receive the ball again from central back to make it again but the lack of confidence from De lIgt didn't help, he never took that risk again. That is why I think it still can work

My cat approves of this new tactical identity. Closing the gaps between the phases in possession and then switching is definitely a pattern emerging. That said, the distribution is now even more important than before. At some point, the midfield two need to show for the ball and the progression needs to come through middle and from the big switches. All about balance. Well explained vid. Keep up great work

@houdinisplug2 күн бұрын
We need a specialist LWB in that wide Left position e.g Grimaldo, Di Marco, Kerkez, Ait-Nouri, Tavares etc. someone of that profile I feel will massively improve our attacking unpredictability. With Dalot the opposing FB can just send him down the line knowing he doesn’t have a left foot. Honestly don’t see how we finish in the top half let alone top 4 with Dalot/Malacia as our LWB options.

Exactly what I was thinking yesterday. The CBs should be play the ball through the lines cause they always do sideways passes. @AtroTenebris3 күн бұрын
[Sorry how long this is]. I agree with this but I think the issue lies in experience. So there were chances where like Yoro would play the ball into Amad and get it back; as there was pressure on Amad. So the CBs were thinking, if I try to progress the ball - it will just come back to me, so how else are we supposed to go? Now that issue is a result of two things: 1) the competence of the 10s and the Midfielders on the turn 2) the speed we play out. A continous thing I see is that we are very slow with playing out from the back, which gives the opposition time to shift over and cover the lines (so the conundrum i explained above comes into play). So when the ball is played out quicker, it will be better. Something i argue has helped us is with the no 9 dropping deep [more preferably with Zirkzee]. As we then have number superiority in the middle and the players can play in the middle. The other issue I spoke of is the 10s and the midfield. Bar Kobbie as I think he is great on a turn plus Mount on a given day, the midfield we have does not excel in ball handling. [Maybe technicality is the better word here]. Bruno, as much as I have him praise, is one of the worst ball carriers and holders in a midfield. Ugarte seems to be getting more onto ball carrying and holding, but I would still say it is not a strong suit for him. Nashers and Rashford, nothing needs to be said. So even if you play the ball into the lines, if the tens pick it up - it is likely they just won't hold or keep the ball up. Hence that causes an issue of turnovers and if the players are in the Opponent's final third [with the WBs high] - that's a crisis. My solution for this to play our more technical players in the tens to hold the ball but also be a good midfield option of if they drop in, you can play them and know they will keep the ball well. Or train the CFs to be able to lay off the ball [more concerned with Holjund on this one than Zirkzee, as Holjund's technical ability is questionable.]. The Midfielders in this system are an option to progress the ball through the lines but shouldn't be the main channel which we progress play. We should keep it varied to the three ways Amorim has done with Sporting [i.e. WBs, Middle or to the CF to knock it down/lay it off to the Tens and progress]. Another issue i actually remembered as well is you need movement from the midfield and tens as well. One issue i clearly saw in the Forest game is that the tens and midfield would always be standing still. So it was easier for Forest to man mark the players (linking to the first issue I spoke of). [Icl, Bruno looked tired that game]. We need more energetic players in those positions but who also are very reliable and viable options.

Let me tell u something this you said is exactly what he’s trying to do. But he’s doing it with the wrong players. There’s is no way this will work with garnacho and ramus upfront those players are too direct and they ain’t that clinical let’s be honest. There’s a reason why that game vs Everton was very amazing, zirkzee is the player you need for this things to work, he will keep possession, link up plays and give assist and score. Now Rashford is another person who needs to in play too because he’s direct and he’s our best finisher rn he will be making those false 9 runs with amad while zirkzee can create them United will be lethal. Bruno honestly need to step up. He need to be playing with these players rather than always trying to improvise. But you can’t get control of the ball without players that can’t hold the ball. Garna and Ramus can’t give you ball control but zirkzee rashy and amad will give you 💯 ball control

Losing to Arsenal away and Forest who also beat Liverpool at Anfield is not a bad start. We do need more technical players and Amorim must choose the correct combination of player characteristics to use this squad for the season. In particular we cannot play too many low ball retention players in the team at the same time Garna Bruno Hojlund and Rashford. Amad must play centrally so that he cannot be marked out of a game AND We should invert the system so we can try Garna as an inverted left wingback and put Maz/Dalot at RWB

@AJAnalysis another analysis that is factual, that is, you are strong, very difficult to see football without emotion, more difficult to explain with it, congratulations Essential ball possession, both in general and individually, every time a player touches the ball he gains confidence, he knows that he can make a pass even if it is a pass back or to the side, which makes that the 3rd time he receives the ball instead of passing it he already has the confidence to hold it, even if it's just a second, before passing it again or even dribbling But as RA said (he explains everything) there was still no time to practice the dynamics in the last third of the terrain. It is urgent to buy an LW with left foot, it seems a bit silly but everything changes, in my point of view but mainly from the point of view of RA, in 5 years of coaching he always bought lefties for that position, in this case the wingers, are left foot, always

I beg to differ on the fullback not being good enough to cross and needing wingers. Amorim used both types there interchangeably. Nuno Santos was a good example of a converted winger - which a huge pace and can reasonably take on defensive duties, but he also used Nuno Mendes there - in fact he turned Nuno Mendes into the best LWB in the world. There's also the thing were when he feels he wants more pace and crosses from the line back, he puts a winger into the role, when he wants crosses from the edge of the box in quick transitions (like those you mentioned from through passes from the center backs ) then someone like Dalot gets the nod. I think there's no good options right now for that role at MU. And even Dalot can cross, but he's got a tendency to go too deep instead of combine with Garnacho or cross at the edge of the box. Whenever he crosses early in transition he's a danger. He did it a couple of times in the Forest game but Rasmus lacks the experience, the pace, or simply the capacity for guessing where those passes might land and was always late to them. There's a reason Amorim insists on Dalot, and there's a reason why he keeps playing for the Portugal National team - his versatility. In the absence of world class players in MU for most Amorim roles (or any roles really), Dalot shines because he can fill 2 or 3 of them reasonably well in either side.
@Bloodnok492 күн бұрын
Dalot is getting a bad press currently bcs he is constantly being played out of position, It was only last season he received tons of plaudits for his work at RB, and in fact he displaced Wan Bissaka so often that the latter applied for a transfer. One major issue which AJ does not address is the relative inexperience of the side in the front 7 who started against Forest. Dalot and Bruno aside, the other 5 are young and some of them have a tendency to lose patience if things go awry. Garnacho loses composure and develops tunnel vision, while Mainoo has already picked up 5 Yellow Cards this season and taken a match suspension. I think most accept Hojlund is very much a work in progress. How much do the players listen to their skipper or Dalot? We know Bruno''s general impression of his team: in early October he was reported as saying he preferred playing for Portugal because"It's a space where I feel good and I feel like I can enjoy my football at a very high level, due to the dynamics we have and the quality I have at my side."

For me, we won't see the full effect of Ruben's tactical style of play until we sign some new players who haven't been corrupted by the shite we currently have at the club, and those that manage to survive the cull need to break the old habits that they fall back into everytime it goes to shit.! Our 2 No.10's also need to track the opposition FB's/WB's all the way, as Garnacho tracks them to a certain degree but then stops and they can run free, which is better than Rashford as he doesn't track them at all.. Our CM's are still having to cover out wide, which in my opinion is why we conceded the 2nd goal against Forest as M.G White had way too much space in centre midfield, 20-25 yards from goal.. Onana should've still saved it though.. We don't even try to stop teams from crossing balls into our box. We need more intensity from our wide players to close people down and stop the crosses.! Standing in front of the player isn't gonna get it done.

Because I never see positional rotations in their attacks Positional rotation isn’t essential some people prefer it some people don’t I personally don’t you play players in their position where they’re comfortable I don’t see haaland dropping out wide to let foden go centrally, Salah saka KDB haaland foden diaz odegard I know exactly where these players will be, we’re so bad in attack because we lack footballers with IQ composure and the ability to beat their man not because of no attacking rotations As I said this sounds more like a preference thing, I think you’re wrong to slightly criticise Ruben here I’ve made 3 comments now against 3 points you’ve mentioned and I believe I’ve made strong arguments would love to see you respond

The amount of times we'd go backwards even when we have space on either wing to occupy, and I'm sure that's not Amorim's fault, it's the players'.. Honestly, we are going to need more intelligent players in order for this system to be successful, so it's not only about quality, because most of these players have some degree of quality, they just don't have the IQ, they are not intelligent enough.. I can see the great transformation Amorim can make if given the right players, but he's going to struggle with most of the current ones, their mentality is average.. It's not only about energy, it's also about what the energy is producing, because some of them look like headless chickens on the field.. The examples you used are perfect areas for a fitter Shaw to be in, he def makes those crosses. The Dalot example, someone like Davies ends up in the box after driving touchline for a cut back. The Malacia example, someone like Alvaro Fernandez or Harry Amass finds a better cross.. idk I’m just saying. This isn’t a “they’re not a winger” reason, they just suck. Imo at least. Good video tho.

@AJAnalysisКүн бұрын
I think the terminology is key here Alot of fullbacks are ELITE ball carriers, but not necessarily great dribblers, of course there are examples of those that can do it; Frimpong etc (although even Frimpong only beats his man 35.7% of the time) The key difference is that fullbacks often arrive into the space, whereas wingers start in the space. When the game is at a standstill, and the ball is outwide, wingers are naturally better at changing the speed (just because they've done it since they were kids) I do think this is largely personal preference, but I know who I want in 1v1 situations, and I think there's a reason that alot of teams have chosen to invert their fullbacks in recent years 💚
