Let's shift our focus from excessive talking to more action. Rather than announcing military hardware and long-term objectives, it's essential to concentrate on incremental progress and achieving the necessary variables. It's important to consider the risk of delivering key dependencies before the overall aim is achieved, as premature delivery of critical components may impact the program's success. Therefore, a cautious and strategic approach is needed to ensure that each step contributes effectively to the overarching goal.

My only question to this man is - what is his ministry doing to ensure that we don’t see a repetition of what’s been happening in the last 45 years or so? A quick google search shows that “Nigeria has pumped more than US$8 billion into Ajaokuta Steel Company, a project which began more than 40 years ago but has yet to produce one tonne of steel. Several attempts have been made to bring the plant into production, but without success. It was built to 98% capacity by the Soviet Union’s Tyazpromoexport. But the lack of a rail line around the plant, and changes in political and operational management over the years, stymied completion.” Also, what infrastructures are in place (e.g., rail system) for transporting the products when the plant is up and running? It’s not just about coming on tv to speak big grammar and mention concession a million times.

The problem with ajaokuta is that of inept leadership. These were visionless leaders who only became leaders by mistake. The last administration was a disaster. Even when the house allocated 1 billion to the project the minister of mining and steel was completely uninterested having his eyes on governorship of ekiti state. Nigerian politicians are a disaster
@chikembanefo978411 ай бұрын
Well said. The integrity required does not exist in the tinubu government. There’s a reason why democratic governments like ours tend to distance themselves from commerce. They don’t do it well without enough motivation. The right move would be to completely leave it for private sector like they do in America. The Chinese government on the other hand is able to engage in commerce because if you’re caught in corruption, it’s firing squad. Nigerian ministers don’t have that motivation. They’re not hungry nor threatened by anything. Shege pro max continues. Only the dense agbados continue expecting miracles to happen as if Tinubu has ever run a legitimate business in his life.

Sorry sir/madam, this is not near what Mr president promises us with wells of talents in Nigeria. Yesterday was a bad day in the office for the homs mobister of steel development. Take it from me. The biggest take of steel in the world is the automotive industry where the cars in entirity uses steel. Today, cars body is made up fibre, the engine of super cars are made up sone super alloys even tough steel is an alloy, let shock us all, we 43 years behind on the steel industry that is dying. Do you know the British government is paying the company managing the steel company in the UK to be amle to employ people. Go and read on the history of steel industry and it will surprise you, ejat us really happening wake up Nigerians. Please Ajaokuta will not produce not more than the plates, it is cyrrently producing and they ran an energy bill of N33billion. I did not find it funny when he said the actual bill was N9billion that the remaining N24billion was interest. He should not commented at all. Do arsenal winger style I did mot see it or just say NEXT.

Ministry of steel company headed by a lawyer. Na wa oo for Nigeria
@David-qp2fu11 ай бұрын
Dear Mr. Minister, Nigerians deserve more than selling our steel company to foreigners, which we all know will only benefit the politicians and the foreigners when money exchanges hands. I would hope that our leaders, by now, have the insight and knowledge that what belongs to Nigerians should only be managed by Nigerians. There are different approaches the minister could adopt, such as a model and agreement that will develop Nigerians to manage their own resources. Skilled Nigerians and Black expatriates around the globe can support and provide the services required to effectively make the steel plant function. These approaches and strategies were adopted and implemented by South Africa, Dubai, Ghana, Kenya, and many other countries. What belongs to Nigerians should only be managed by Nigerians. However, most of our leaders are lazy and want an easy way out: sell it to the Chinese or Indians, cash out, and they are gone. They come in, exploit our people with cheap labour, and enslave Nigerians in their own land. I believe Mr Minister can do better, as Nigerians deserve more.
@oyewaleilesanmi137810 ай бұрын
The minister had never mentioned selling our steel company. You can go back and listen again. He mentioned that they are raising money internally to fund the company and talked about some other foreign companies from China and India interested in investing in Nigeria in terms of steel companies produce. We just need to listen very well and comprehend before commenting or sharing our view. Anyways, we are all hoping for the betterment of our country.

The Minister stated that the Ministry of Works will need 7million MT of iron/steel rods to complete 30,000 kilometers of roads over 4 years. Let's work it out: that's an average of 1.75 million MT/year. He said it, in his own words. The funny part is, the maximum capacity of light steel mills is 400,000 MT/year. Ajaokuta cannot fulfill the Ministry of Works' order of 1.75 million MT. Why are we looking for investor when hocernmenr as in mins of works need is more than we can produce 400,000MT against 1,750,000MT, By now the minister can just go work and start production of iron/steel rods, road project will take it all and they can even import billets and just make more and save $500million. What is he and his proncioal waoting for there we the first 50,000 jobs in Ajaokuta. Please Hons Minister stop branding nimber, we are not moved by those number as they are not adding up one bit. One major question to ask regarding getting the Chinese and Indian company is will these two countries flood Nigeria with Chinese and Indian workers? Look at Dangote refinery which has brought over 5000 Indians to Nigeria (who now behave as if they own Nigeria) whilst Indians in India are almost lynching Nigerians in India. We need to make sure the country is NOT flooded with Chinese and Indians who will begin to lord it over poor Nigerian. I prefer the Germans to assist but not take over
@joshuaelaiho220110 ай бұрын

Seun, next time you have the opportunity, please ask the Minister how he thinks Ajaokuta is tooled-up to produce military hardware. Is there any business plan on his table in this regard? Apart from that, let him convince you how he thinks steel rods from his plant will compare in price to those from the more modern existing Chinese and Indian rolling mills running on scrap. Lastly, ask the Minister what capabilities the 'Central Maintenance Workshop' in Ajaokuta has got apart from the outdated set of lathes and other archaic equipment? This workshop should be able to produce castings, forged items, rolled plates and a diverse range of fabricated items for the shipping, rail, cement, mining, telecom, marine, oil & gas and other sectors. Why is this facility not in operation?
