The album was dedicated to her mother "who thought me how to pray" (quote from the album cover), and she died when Madonna was 5 "Promise to try". "Love song" is feat. Prince. "Till death do us part" talks about her marriage with Sean Penn that was done on Christmas Eve 1988. "Oh father" talks about her frustrations with her father. "Keep it together" says that family is most important thing in the world. And "Act of contrition" as a closure of the album is actually "Like a prayer" played backwards.

Act of Contrition is a Christian prayer, a penitence asking for forgiveness for the sins that one has done. I’ve always thought that in the end when Madonna said “I have a reservation” it was actually Madonna being in the gates of heaven being assured of a place there, but she being sinful person was not allowed to enter paradise, hence the end line “what do you mean it’s not in the computer?”

At the end of the last track, "what do you mean its not in the computer!" was a joke about her then recently divorced ex husband Sean Penn's notorious temper and volitility in public with paparrazzi. She had à réservation, the joke being like à réservation for seating at à restaurant which would have at the time been looked up and verified on a simpler version of a restaurant computer back in '89. It was an example of self-deprecation on her part and the refusal to take her status and superstardom too seriously.

Madonna best album of all time and featuring her best conceptually tour ever: the blond ambition. Iconic. Instant classic. A visionary artist at her peak. The one we got now is a mere shadow of what it once was the most cohesive, bravest and successful female career from 80’s to 00’s, with her last decent contribution in 2006 with COADF. The rest was and is unforgettable TRASH. Thank god I witnessed the prime of her career and attended to her best concert tours cause what we got now is hmmm, IRRELEVANT AND REDUCTIVE

Either way, Gaga won an Oscar for music, it's an award known for acting not music , she did not get that so i don't know why Gaga fans act like an Oscar for music is anything better or bigger than a Grammy. Madonna has sung songs that won Oscars too. And if you want to do movie awards, she won a Golden Globe for Best Leading actress in 1997 too beating out Glenn Close and Frances McDormand, so it's not she's not been recognized at the movie front either.

She lost her multi million $ contract with Pepsi over the video to like a prayer
@jasondotson9035 Жыл бұрын
But she got to keep all the money, already aired the video, and she reigned on top of the charts without Pepsi’s help or the approval of the outdated religious beliefs. It’s her 2nd best album. But in 89 it was like Taylor Swift or Beyoncé’s popularity, great videos, fantastic songs, excitement was everywhere, she touched on important topics, and sales were great. Ultimately it left us with the beginning of her cementing her legacy as an artist, performer, songwriter, producer, singer, and overall great album especially at the time it was released.
