#LustForLife has already made my skin clearer, cured my depression, improved my credit, fixed my split ends, and restored my ability to love. I'm really starting to think that Lana Del Rey is an goddess sent from heaven to bless us with her music. For the next 24 hours I don't want anyone to contact me, because I'll be listening to #LustForLife released by our savior Lana Del Rey.

xoxo, Jo Calderone I was so overjoyed and felt amazing for the album and then Get Free hit me really hard. Made me break out, sent me into an emotional downward spiral, made my hair greasy and made my heartbreak. Not because it was bad, but because the message is fucking sad.

dad dy Actually Get Free is really hopeful. It's the idea that no matter how deep of a depression ur in, tell yourself to stay on the ride of life and see if it takes u somewhere better. I went through a serious depression at one point and this song makes me feel so happy to the point of almost glowing. I was never suicidal when I was depressed, but the song was definitely relatable

Get Free is so well-written. The melodies are uplifting, beautiful, and haunting all at once. The chorus is so unexpected and she sings it in her Lizzy Grant voice. Her magnum opus. I got tears in my eyes when I first heard it. It's so beautiful.

FYI some of her lyrics are a homage to the 60's and 70's music . For example: 1) in Cherry when she says "rosemary and thyme" it's actually a lyric used in Simon and Garfunkel's song called Scarborough Fair. Simon and Garfunkel was a well known music duo in the 60's and 70's. 2) In the song Coachella - Woodstock in my mind (Woodstock was one of the biggest music festivals organized in 1969 where "hippies" came together to celebrate three days of peace and music to show their opposition of the Vietnam War.) She says "I'd trade it all for a stairway to heaven" and it's actually a reference to the song Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin. 3) Then she features Sean Oko Lennon (John Lennon and Yoko Ono's son) and Stevie Nicks (baddest bitch and original witch with some of the biggest hits from 60's and 70's that use to be in Fleetwood Mac ) This bitch is just a musical genius in her references, lyrical content and people she features in her songs. Crazy how she compares the political tensions during the 60's and 70's to whats going on now in the world. Only now she questions if this is the end of an era where America has lost its power of being a world leader all thanks to a president who is very incompetent and has no idea how his actions are affecting our relationships with other countries and many allies. So many people, including Americans, are losing its respect for America.

She goes through different phases in this album. First 2 songs - feel good songs about life Songs 3-5 : about relationship Songs 6-8 : RnB sound Songs 9-11: politics and war Songs 12-13: harmonising duets with people about life Songs 14-16: Very smooth finish like honeymoon.
@nickoteene7 жыл бұрын
Sam ESC I think 14-16 are more like songs looking for freedom, changes, her own happiness but obviously a smooth end like Honeymoon.
@samlovesu69417 жыл бұрын
YES 100% AGREE! Lana is so clever she tells a story with this album, im still trying to figure out its message
@nickoteene7 жыл бұрын
Sam ESC I have this crazy theory: "Get Free" it's like the first part of something, she says "Sometimes it feels like I've got a war in my mind" it's an obvious reference to "Ride" and it's like if she starts to think se has some troubles, some bad thoughts and in "Ride" it's like if she finally admits that she has troubles or in other words "she has a war in her mind" but she stills being free just like she says in "Get free" and even in "Ride" it's just something I thought.
@samlovesu69417 жыл бұрын
Dann Hernández OMG IVE FIGURED IT OUT! This album is meant to represent a persons life! Sow the first two are feel good songs about life like people being born and brought to life. Songs 3-5 are about love which could reference the teenage times when you fall in love. Songs 6-8 are RnB which could express the freedom of finally doing what you want to do. Then songs 9-11 are references to politics and war which is what you start thinking about as you get older as an adult and it become more important in your life. Then the two duets (songs 12-13) could be about mid life crisis almost. And then the last 3 could represent a calming pass into death and old age
@nickoteene7 жыл бұрын
Sam ESC OMFG I love this, maybe that's why it's called "Lust for Life" this whole album is a person, it's a life and its phases. I got you!
@mandoz3537 жыл бұрын
I feel like heroin sounded more like ultraviolence. It even had the "ultra softly" lyric in there. If you look back all the songs on the record have lyrics that call back to her earlier songs. Get free has lines from Ride, she mentions video games in Beautiful People Beautiful Problems. This album definitely makes a complete 360 from born to die but still has hella undertones from her previous works.

The loser Lana's singing about in In My Feelings is (probably) G-Eazy. They had a thing for a while (Lana confirmed this in her interview w pitchfork). Yesterday there was a listening party and when In My Feelings played she said "I could name names, but I won't." And then right after the "Could it be that I fell for another loser" bit played and she made a G signal with her hands.

Yes, if you aren't familiar with Stevie Nicks get "Rumors" by Fleetwood Mac... just her screaming and howling in pain as backing track in "Gold Dust Woman" will shake you to your knees... Stevie's voice is now shite compared to the 70s (she didn't sing properly and messed up her sinuses with coke and blew her vocal chords so badly she now sings an octave LOWER. BELLADONNA is her first solo album (1981) and it will MOVE you. Stevie is now 70... but look at her photos. No plastic surgery. Just got sober and got healthy again... also, for years she's denied actually being a "witch", but "Sisters of the Moon" will pretty much make it solid she was getting into serious Old Religion mojo... when it was still taboo. Meet Lana's auntie !!!

*PS: stevie nicks is the legendary vocalist from fleetwood mac :d and sean ono lennon is indeed the son of the legendary john lennon and his wife yoko ono :d thought these need to be highlated because in sean ono lennon's feature she sings about how crazy is life that she grew up idiolizing john and yoko and now she's having their son feature in one of her songs :)

I agree you should react to Fleeteood Mac's "Rumours" album for a first Stevie Nicks experience. She started out with Buckingham, who also sings, and they joined the band in the mid-'70s. She started putting out solo material in the '80s, which is also great, but I would suggest starting with "Rumours" if you're going to explore her music that album is a classic and every person in that band is incredible and all three voices in that band are so different but so beautiful together.

Awww, that was too short! She did so many special things with her voice and music and lyrics, I wish you would have highlighted it more. I definitely think this is one of her best albums and my favorites are Tomorrow Never Came (makes me cry every time I listen to it), God Bless America (the scales she sings in the background towards the end, amazing!), Cherry, Groupie Love and White Mustang (and your revving and revving and revving it up, needs to be repeated more). Just a gorgeous gorgeous album!!!
