Well the problem is not just failing in one series. Rahane has been out of form for 4 yrs out of last 5. His test career average has taken a huge hit since 2016 end. He was averaging 51 after 2016 NZ series whereas he's averaging 38 now. That's a big difference

he is no more the old rahane he struggles against swing and he is not that fluent has he was in the start of his international career used to be very dependable but now i dont think so , i might be wrong but the influence of white ball has hampered his foot work he gets out in his 20s or 30s and is not of that class as he was in his prime time from 2014-2016
