AJP seems to have hit the nail on the head with this one. If they keep it simple and keep tweaking it to match customers feedback they will keep selling them quite well.

Hello Mr Nomad Sweden, enjoy this excellent PR7 machine, I rode 36000 km on mine before parting with it. Very good first modifications. A few words of advice: to keep your suspension in tip-top condition, it's a good idea to change the fork and shock absorber at least once a year. As for the lighting, the original headlight and code are really bad, making it impossible to ride safely at night. I opted for the LSK solution, with its powerful lighting and lower power consumption, and no more worries about riding at night. Be careful with the regulator connector: it's very exposed, so it's important to protect it from water and mud. It's also important to check that the lugs are fully seated, as there's a risk of burning the connector and damaging the regulator or even the alternator. On my PR7, one of the lugs wasn't properly seated, and an electric arc started. This is a known problem. Enjoy

This year the amount of good videos on the PR7 has exploded. Lots of great info out there now. I got mine in May 24 and have used it for work commute, training, enduro touring, road riding with my street buddies and a couple of decent long trips. It does everything pretty well and so far has been a great bike. I have ridden all of its competitors extensively and for me it really hits the mark. All of my buddies I have let ride it come away saying "WOW!!" Maintenance is very easy on it compared to the competition and its well thought out in this category. The Avatar example really explains me and my PR7's relationship. Great video Robert!!

That weight measurement method although not entirely accurate like you said is actually a really good guide for people on buying bikes that are going to have to pick them up at some point , it mainly applies to adventure bike riders who are unsure on getting those big silly engine sizes and taking them off road . It’s kinda fascinating and frustrating to see all these videos of people discovering what was true back in 2010. The old red head Husky TE610/630 were WAAAAY better bikes than the 690 for a great many reasons from countershaft to fueling to reliability but nobody gave them its praise. Thankfully AJP basically took a fantastic bike and put it together in a new way and style that’s a great option for a new generation of riders to/are discovering.

Spot on. Great comment. You are so right. I have an umolested, 1 previous owner 4,000km 2008 Husky (when the brand was owned by MV Agusta, before the BMW buy-out) SM610ie. It's a great backroads bike, light (with full titanium and carbon Leo Vince exhaust system), pokey yet flexible engine, great Marzocchi and Sachs suspension, great handling, slick 6-speed gearbox, beautiful build quality and looks gorgeous. I love it and it's great fun. And unlike most competitors, reliable and simple to maintain yourself. And yet, when I read reviews of the AJP PR7 (which as you point out uses the last version of the Husky engine), the main criticism from 'journalists' and YT 'creators', is that it's an "old" engine. This is lazy journalism that just repeats cliches, because in fact that's one of the main advantages of these bike, no electronics but all the good stuff. Robert is far more analytical and perceptive.
@Pcfly3 күн бұрын
@@glennboy66 SWM and AJP are the same motor, both updated from the TE630 motor along with other components. SWM purchased all the remaining Italian “Red Head” Husky building, manufacturing and infrastructure from the BMW/KTM deal. AJP gets the motors from the same supplier, manufactured from the same place/building as SWM. The motors are very reliable, are built from the TE610 with an updated head to make the TE630 but further refined all these years to produce this most current version which is still a FANTASTIC motor, a bit heavy by todays standard however a long lasting motor if properly maintained. SWM & AJP both “label” the bikes “650”. Back in the day the motors made about 63-65hp whereas the 690’s of its time made about 67-69. These days the current 690’s took until almost 2019 before KTM put a counterbalancer in them to smooth them out. I put well over 15,000 miles on a 2011 630 and I have very close friends with well over 30,000miles on even older 610’s, the oldest being carberated. There are 610/630 out there with many thousands of more miles. I’m personally glad AJP is getting recognition for putting together a great bike and glad it’s this motor! 👍

Great choice with this AJP, I am considering also to get one. I wasn't sure if that bike is for me but now I think there's nothing to worry about. Four years ago I almost bought KTM 690 and ended with T7. Now, after one year of searching I'm sure that PR7 is proper bike. Only the manufacturer should change tablet and light or should offer different variants to choose. KTM 690 will be great bike if they fix all issues and start listening users. 690/701/700 are for few years now and need some refresh. So enjoy PR7 Robert, I wish You lots of fun, stunning adventures and safety landings.

I have owned 7 KTMs...no more for me. I have decided that I will stop giving my hard earned money to a company that just refuses to listen to customers, fix known issues and not support its own products. Yes I am taking some risk with a small manufacturer, but I am not taking any more risk than I gave to KTM and they stole from me. So far my AJP PR7 has been great, incredibly fun to ride in any situation and does exactly what I wanted from a bike in this class. I have 3 mid size and one large ADV bikes and this one is just a whole other world and opens up so many riding options not available on a mid or large ADV bike. Of course, if you live nowhere near an AJP dealer expect to have to mail order parts etc but this bike does share some parts with older bikes. I have ordered a few wear and tear and commonly damaged parts to just have them on hand in case but where I live in Europe you can have parts inside of a work week...no different than the KTM dealer that never kept even common parts in stock or even tubes for tires. I expect for any of my bikes to have to wait 5 days to 3 weeks on parts so don't let the AJP naysayers convince you not to buy one for this non-issue.

I have a T7 since 2022, it was my first real motorcycle and it was my first contact with offroad riding, it was scary as well and it went OK but my skills plateaued. I was scared of the more technical sections, any time she wanted to go down she would definitely go down, and so she did, countless times! I've broken the crashbars, I've broken the original plastic kit, I've put a big dent on the swingarm because of the center stand, I totally destroyed the original handlebar... and last year I decided to buy a second hand AJP PR7 and currently own both and I can tell you that my skills started to improve once again, even when I get back on the T7, my confidence levels are much higher! The PR7 is so much giving and forgiving, its weight is on point! The problem? its reliability... I've had it in the shop 3 times already and she's currently dead on what I suspect is a dead fuel pump... but it surely is a fun bike!

Your presentation skills and dry humor rock! The way you measure the bikes' weight while hanging at an angle was brilliant. I think a comparison of all enduro/dualsport/adventure bikes done this way would be more valuable than the normal way of measuring weight. Did you have the same amount of fuel in both bikes? And another question: How do you get the bike delivered in a box? Can anyone do that, or is that only possible because you are a KZbinr?
@NomadSweden2 күн бұрын
Thanks mate :) Yes both bikes had about 1/3 fuel. More fuel would should show even more difference. Most new AJP are bought on back order with a 2 month wait on delivery from the factory (for Sweden at least). It was no problem delivering the box to my address instead of the reseller. It seemed to be a normal option for them. I could also ask them to send the decals in the box, not mounted on the bike. It's like talking to the chef in the kitchen :)

I think my lighter bike would be something around 400cc but not anything modern as they are mostly overweight or underpowered or both. CCM GP450 is brilliant. DRZ 400 is a solid workhorse if you can find a decent one. Had a couple of CCM 644's which were light and surprisingly good all rounders if you had to do some road miles. Much lighter than a 690 and reliable once the wiring is sorted out. Your PR7 looks fantastic with the retro graphics. Really nice bike and would be my choice if I didn't have the world raid.

Thank :) Well I have used the standard for 5 years and had no problems. I would like the rally because it has even better suspension but it's really no need if you don't plan to go a lot offroad. Mid Size Crisis Indeed. New Bike day, I just purchased new AJP. You're investment in one helped me decide, thanks! Now I have Honda 450RL and PR7, so my lightweight and midweight riding is covered. I'm going to enjoy next season. Next up, purchase bits and pieces to improve. Cheers 🍻

"MIchelin tracker, I love these tyres" WHAT???!???!??? That made me laugh! 😂 Coming from Enduro, that is the WORST tyre in the world. It is the old "AC10", they have to rename it to lost its bad reputation! For trail, or enduro in DRY conditions, OK. But those tyres are like cats, avoid anything wet. pd.: Midlife crisis guy here, thinking on buying a PR7, my ktm 300 is feeling lonely (And I am getting old 🙃) Great channel! (avoiding the michelin thing 😂😂)

thanks for the video, got my PR7 in May and have been going through the same issues.. There seems to be a cure for all the minor issues but I have not found a taller seat yet. I am not super tall at 185cm but feel that my knee angle could be more open to help with the ergos and rear brake when seated

Did you ever considered a Kove 450 Rally as a contender? And was it an easy choice to go with the AJP?
@NomadSweden3 күн бұрын
Yes I did check out the Kove, but it was too much a racing tool for me and needs to be maintained like one. Looks smashing though. I rode the AJP and felt it was just right for me.

Nice degree force measurements. Those kilograms times 9.81m/s^2 and you will have the force in newtons you need to tilt the bike up from the point where the scale is measuring kilograms.🤔 F = ma Units 1N = 1kg*m/s^2

Very strange. I bet you had a reason to not go with standart exhaust&ECU/map but with Domi exhaust and tuned ECU (from the factory) and then trying to restrict it. I completely understand you effort because I know it is unnecessarily loud. Indeed that Domi exhaust package is meant for rallying literally. So, why didn't you really prefer the stock setup ? :)))
@NomadSweden3 күн бұрын
I went with Doma exhaust mainly for the materials. The standard is made of cheese and looks like a rusty pipe quite fast
