After 131 years of being up on a pedestal in downtown #RichmondVA, a 21-foot statue of Confederate Gen. #RobertELee has been removed. It was one of the largest #Confederate monuments in the U.S.
It's still unknown what will be the statue's final disposition.

All these historical statues that they taken down should be at least in a historical museum. No matter what kind of history it has or had it’s still part of American history which is what we are. What are our children going to learn in school in HISTORY class?! The point of having history class is learning about how America was founded and what and who made America what is it today.

I visited St. Petersburg, Russia on a weekend trip with my father back in 1994. As the tour bus drove past a small museum the tour guide said:"If you look outside you'll see the only statue left of Lenin in the city. It's standing on the lawn in the right corner. All the other statues of Lenin have been torn down and taken to the scrapper." So Russia tore every statue of Lenin by 1994 already (the Soviet Union fell in 1991) and distanced itself from its past but the U.S. still has statues of a man who was an enemy of the Union, who lost the Civil War and who is generally revered by people wanting a return to the "good 'ol days" ? Something isn't quite right here... Like I said: That small statue of Lenin was outside some museum where he has "historical" value as a symbol of the past. These Robert E. Lee statues can be put inside museums or the houses of private collectors. But to have them in public??

You realize he isn’t at all talking about statues he stated this in a letter about a meeting of the officers at the battle of Gettysburg. Meaning he didn’t believe in the cause he fought for anymore his history is deeper than this and he changed. If people did more research they would realize he changed and believed the cause he fought for was a waste. He did do bad things and fight for the wrong side. This monument should serve a reminder not to repeat the past and has other symbolic meaning if you dig further into his history.

General Robert E. Lee was a saved, born-again Christian man and everyone knew and respected him for it. He wrote to his chaplains who informed them of their prayers for him that he thanked them and needed all of the prayers offered in his behalf. And then he said: "I can only say that I am nothing but a poor sinner, trusting in Christ alone for salvation."

@@krishall4586 No, I'm telling the exact reason the removal of our Confederate monuments, especially Robert E. Lee's. They represent the Bible Belt and Christianity. The Freemasons (The Great Deceivers are really THE LUCIFERIANS) are getting rid of Christianity and replacing it with Satanic Statues like Baphomet, Albert Pike and The Arc of Baal to Welcome their messiah THE ANTICHRIST. Time is over! The Great Trib is about to begin. If you're not saved NOW is the time to get right with God. Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the LORD shall be saved.

(1860) White southern conservatives committed treason and formed the confederacy to preserve African slavery and white supremacy. (1865) White southern conservatives make up the KKK. (1865-1890) White southern conservatives make up black codes. (1877) Poll tax, literacy tests and registration referral is instituted across the south to disenfranchise black voters *(Georgia)* The term “grandfathered” is first used, exempting whites from all of this. (1883) Civil Rights Cases, Supreme Court votes (8-1) the Civil Rights Act of 1875 unconstitutional, ruling that the 14th Amendment only applied to state actions, not private individuals or businesses, leading to the legitimization of racial segregation and the establishment of Jim Crow laws in the South. A little confused here. 😢 Black men earned the right to vote in the 1800s. ALL women earned the right to vote in 1920. It may have been difficult in some places for some black women to vote. I believe this woman is referring to the 1965 act removing any obstacles for black women to vote. Her rights were given long before she was born.
