My gosh AJ, what a beautiful top notch restoration! That engine sounds great and runs so smoothly, great job!!

Thank you very much! I am glad it ran so good, I am always worried about that part.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Looks awesome! It’s amazing how smooth it runs for its age.

It was quite rough, now its nice and smooth.

@@AJRestoration The GX engines were made to last. The newer GCV ones are junk. I doubt you will be rebuilding any of them down the road. It’s said but the Chinese knock offs are a third to half the cost of the Honda and run as good.
@MarkMeadows907 ай бұрын
Those Honda engines never disappoint. Smooth running, and very reliable.

Doesn't matter if you're South African, European, American, we guys are all the same....(looks at torque values)....2 ugga duggas with the impact driver will get us to the right value! 🤣🤣🤣 Great job on the restoration, the engine looks great. BTW, you actually motivated me to buy a nickel plating kit, so I can refurbish the nuts and bolts on my 1968 National Walking Sprinkler.
@AJRestoration7 ай бұрын
Haha funny enough I used the ugadugga on the crank cover, and all of the bolts were spot on when I double checked with the torque wrench, moving a degree before clicking, I was like wow nice!

I dig the color choices. I litterally ran my Honda powered pressure washer all day today... probably all day tomorrow...

Haha they are good engines.

@@AJRestoration Today my pump may have given up. Acted like the unloader seized. Killed the engine twice (I had the RPM's backed off)... Like a knuckle head I start it a third time and gave it full RPM only it blew my hose. Disassembled the unloader. There was some junk in there but it still does not unload right. I can't get a pressure gauge on it at the moment... But I suspect the over pressure event may have caused pump damage. That is a project for another day...

Not sure if you are interested, but you can get a new oe or aftermarket recoil starter for this engine, small plant hire companies make use of these all day long

I do have a few at the back, I just liked the aesthetic for this project.

Good restoration but you didn't show setting valve clearance and you didn't set the engine governor so I doubt very much it will run right until the engine governor is properly set
@AJRestoration7 ай бұрын
I never show the valve adjustments, there are plenty rebuild videos focusing on those parts. The governor is correct, its either wrong or right, there is no in-between. I suspect the carb has a blocked passage, however I did confirm they are all open, could be partially blocked.

Сложилось впечатление, что при сборке корпуса, везде хрустит песок от пескоструйки. Как по мне, не стоит песочить те места, где масло. Очень трудно избавится от остатков песка. Налипает он на алюминий и потом начинает вымываться.

hate to say this but you put the piston in upside down
@AJRestoration7 ай бұрын
Haha nah its fine. The piston should be installed with the arrow or mark facing down towards the pushrods
