It’s not cosmetic enough, not something you’d want on your desk , your friends won’t be amazed……. Real model steamers are really clean from use, this is a bit dirty….. still this is probably not straight from the box…….

Beautiful restoration, especially the aesthetics. I have one myself and it's a tough old beast for 360W. The excellent fan keeps the motor very cool compared to some 1995+ drills. But ... did you pack in enough grease?

I know it's dumbed down for people who couldn't care less, but does water to citric acid ratio actually matter? Does spreading the mollecules far enough apart before adding any of the sodas make a big difference in quality of solution? That is, will I get same results if I add thrice as much of citric acid and soda to 0.5l of water, or will it be worse? Likewise if I add a third of citric acid and soda to 1l of water... I know that chemistry is fickle sometimes, that's why some chemicals are very expensive and of course, sometimes outright illegal unless you're educated enough with proof to handle them. And sure, you can say I should try and see, and I am waiting for one thing to derust right now in like 800ml of water with 30g citric acid, which started as like 100ml of water turned into 30% citric acid solution with more water being added to wash out remaining citric acid (which doesn't really matter) and then I was adding water together with soda very slowly for same reason, to remove all of it from a cup. For completeness sake, I used baking soda, of which you need 63g per 100g citric acid, in other words, 18.9g in my case. And I'm asking because I know that trisodium citrate is basically worthless and what we're going for is mostly monosodium citrate, hence lower amount of soda that doesn't completely kill the acid, leading to ~4pH

Hear hear! (to the NO MUSIC!!) Just out of interest..... 1. Why did you fit the tank with the filler on the right? Would it not have been easier to have it on the left away from the valve gear? 2.Also why not screw the straps to the sled BEHIND the tank first. Surely less fiddlesome. 3. PLEASE tell me where I can buy this kit. I'm too old to go lugging full size H&M engines round rally fields, but I miss my Bamford 'Tulip Top' like crazy. I'm in the U.K. Many thanks.

As someone who does this professionally, Id point out 3 mistakes in your technique: NEVER use paper towels on the cast iron, fibres get lodged into microscopic crevasses, ALWAYS season immediately after resurfacing otherwise your just trapping the re-formed rust into the season where it will continue to rust, and lastly, NEVER USE A SEED OIL, instead, rendered bacon fat is the preferred oil to season with, I do mine for 2 cycles at 425f

When you said "John Deere tractor", I was thinking riding lawn mower, but wow! you meant "John Deere tractor"! So cool. I have no doubt that it will look like it just rolled off the showroom floor when you get finished with it. John Deere's will last a lifetime and then some. You have a piece that can be passed down for generations.

I had the same idea, thought I should rubberize the underneath of the body and wheel arches. Also the part where the user's feet will rest when he is on the tractor.
